Mr. Reinsel artist and educator working in the areas of time-based arts and interactive media. Starting as a composer, his work evolved to incorporate video, animation, and interactive formats. He has 13 years of professional and academic experience in electronic/digital arts, focusing on the area of interactive arts and design, new media, and time-based arts. Mr. Reinsel has two masters degrees in advanced fine arts practice, the first from Radford University in Music Composition and Media Arts(M.A.), and the second from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Electronic Arts(M.F.A.) Mr Reinsel’s creative and professional works have been exhibited and performed at international and national events including: Corcoran Gallery of Art, ArtPrize, Free City International Art Festival, SIGGRAPH, Zero One San Jose/ISEA, New York Electronic Art Festival, and international locations including the United Kingdom, Portugal, Ecuador, Spain, and Finland. Mr. Reinsel has received logistical an monetary assistance from the University of Michigan; Flint Public Art Project(Artplace); SIGGRAPH, ZeroOne San Jose; New York State Council for the Arts; New York Foundation for the Arts; Maryland Arts Council, Willam Baker Foundation; Free Fall Baltimore; and the Baltimore City Office of Promotion in the Arts. As an educator he has worked in multiple capacities in teaching and administration. As an educator he has taught over 20 courses at the undergraduate and graduate level that cover foundations levels to graduate level project based courses and has received recoginition most notably being a university faculty teaching award. An an administrator Mr. Reinsel has created, designed and managed an M.A. in Digital Arts at Goucher College. At University of Michigan-Flint he has added a new undergraduate Graphic Design emphasis in Interactive Art and Design to a B. F. A. degree. This has been approved unanimously by the department faculty and the University governing faculty in April 2013. While in Quito, Ecuador he also worked with a local university to assist faculty with learning different areas of interactive art. During his residency at Universidad San Francisco de Quito he taught courses and created workshops for faculty about creating interactive art projects using the software, Pure Data and MAX/MSP. Mr Reinsel has worked in New York(2001-2002), Maryland(2002-2006, 2008-2010), Ecuador(2007-2008), Michigan(2010-present), is a US citizen and speaks intermediate Spanish.
