Material and method: The aim of this study is to describe the cases of two female patients suffering from anorexia nervosa, who developed a refeeding syndrome after starting nutritional therapy. Additionally, the available literature was reviewed in order to characterize the issue, including negative consequences and prevention of the refeeding syndrome. Results: In both cases, the development of the refeeding syndrome was found in the patients, resulting from the excessive supply of energy and nutritional substrates in a short time, preceded by a previous, months long period of starvation and exhaustion of the organism (both patients had a decrease in the body mass index-BMI-to the value of about 14 kg / m 2). In patient 1, the symptoms concerned mainly the cardiovascular system: a significant increase in the concentration of N-terminal B-type natriuretic propeptide (NT-proBNP) and tachycardia, as well as a decrease in the concentration of inorganic phosphates and hypokalemia. On the other hand, in the case of patient 2, symptoms such as confusion or deep disturbances of consciousness, which led to hospitalization in the intensive care unit, dominated the clinical picture. Conclusions: Refeeding syndrome may develop during nutritional rehabilitation, especially in the case of a sudden, inadequately planned supply of nutrients. Particular care should be taken in patients with extremely low BMI when reintroducing nutrition. The presented case reports draw attention to the possibility of cardiological complications and mental disorders of the realimentation syndrome, and indicate the behavior of patients (eating excessive food) that may lead to the development of the refeeding syndrome.

Restricted environmental stimulation technique (REST) is a method used to achieve a deep relaxation and subsequent beneficial health effects on stress and relaxation. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate potential positive health effects of flotation-REST.Flotation-REST treatment decreased the degree of stress. Another study's results indicate that flotation-REST reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure due to greater relaxation. It was concluded that flotation-REST has beneficial effects on decreasing stress, therefore the method has potential as a complementary treatment of stress-related ailments. However, more studies are warranted to further evaluate the treatments efficacy.

All this comes down to the fact that the resulting prints better fulfill their roles in the world of medicine and enable patients to recover faster. This precision translates into the main advantage of 3D printing, i.e. personalisation of models with perfectly reproduced structures of a given patient based on CT or MRI tests. At the same time, these prints can be used for didactic purposes by medical students from the very beginning of their professional career, which in the future will make it much easier to perform difficult and complicated operations. Aim of the study: Presentation of the application and positive aspects of 3D printing in medicine. 939 Summary: 3D printing is a permanent feature on the pages of modern medicine. Thanks to it we get to know the personalized morphology of given structures, we more accurately prepare ourselves for the procedure and more often prevent probable complications, and our medical staff receives another dose of knowledge, which they translate into the profession. Conclusions: Training on perfectly reproduced copies printed in 3D can certainly attest to the high qualifications of specialist doctors. The use of widely understood 3D printing technique in medicine is slowly becoming commonplace.

During a session of flotation-REST a patient is lying face-up in a tank filled with high-buoyancy water, allowing the patient to float comfortably on the surface. The tank reduces the external stimulation and allows to achieve a state of deep relaxation. It has many potential health benefits, including reduction of stress, anxiety and depression. A few studies suggested its positive effects on sleep quality too. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate potential positive health effects of flotation-REST.Flotation-REST treatment decreased the degree of stress, anxiety or depression, whereas the patients' optimism and sleep quality were significantly increased. The results also 130 indicate that the most severe perceived pain intensity was significantly reduced, however low perceived pain intensity was not influenced by the floating technique. It was concluded that flotation-REST has beneficial effects on decreasing stress, anxiety, depression and pain, therefore the method has potential as a complementary treatment of these. However, more studies are warranted to further evaluate the treatments efficacy.

It is considered to be rare; however, the prevalence of the disease is underestimated because it is commonly misdiagnosed as obesity or lymphedema and the general awareness is poor. The etiology of the disorder is considered to be multifarious, including genetic inheritance, hormonal imbalance and microcirculation alterations. Diagnosis is mainly based on medical history and physical examination. Management of lipoedema is focused on reducing the symptoms, improving the quality of life and preventing further progression of the disease. The aim of this paper is to raise the awareness of the disease and provide appropriate clinical guidance for the assessment of lipoedema. We searched through the PubMed/MEDLINE database and took into consideration all of the results available as of 6 September, 2020 and outlined the current evidence regarding lipoedema epidemiology, etiology, clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, and management. Better understanding of lipoedema is crucial for establishing an early diagnosis and a proper treatment, which in turn will reduce the psychological and physical implications associated with the disease.

It refers to a computer-generated, three-dimensional image of objects, space and even whole events. It is an extremely promising prospect for medicine, both in the training area and as an aid in carrying out certain procedures or diagnostic processes. The number of conducted research and great interest of scientists in this subject indicates that in the future it will be one of the basic tools of medical personnel in diagnostic processes and therapy. It could be also helpful addition to increase education quality of medical students and specialization education. VR increased the safety of surgical training and has significantly improved it, creating completely new possibilities of imaging complex structures during operations and extending the possibilities of already existing imaging examinations. What is important, VR can be successfully adapted for use by specialists from various, often extremely different medical fields. This article describes the use of virtual reality (both VR and AR technologies) in medical training, procedures and diagnostics.

It is becoming an increasingly common health issue amongst people over 65 years of age and poses a direct threat to life. However, early diagnosis, proper treatment and postoperative care significantly increase the chances for long-term survival. The currently available methods of treatment of an abdominal aortic aneurysm are surgical and include classical or endovascular approach. The classical method is an open operation consisting of the replacement of a changed section the aorta for a vascular prosthesis. Endovascular surgery protects the aneurysm from rupture by placing the peripheral vascular stent-graft access to the light of the aneurysm.Aim and method: Comparison of two methods of treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm: classical and endovascular in patients. We searched through the PubMed database and took into consideration all of the resu...

The main reason of elevated GH concentration is pituitary adenoma that originates from somatotropic cells. As a consequence, several changes in the organism appear such as progressive deformation of the skeleton with enlargement of the skull, hands and feet, growth of soft tissues, bones and internal organs as well as many other systemic complications which are responsible for increased mortality in untreated patients. Case report: A 60-year-old patient was diagnosed with acromegaly due to the pituitary macroadenoma and associated hypopituitarism in the thyroid and gonadotropic axis 4 years ago. The disease was suspected in April 2016 by a rheumatologist, and then confirmed on the basis of hormonal tests in the Endocrinology Clinic (IGF1 - 754.7 ng/ml, N: 77-224; GH - 2.51 ng/ml, no inhibition in OGTT). The imaging examination revealed a pituitary macroadenoma with dimensions of 17x15...
