This study investigated the issues and challenges of Electronic Security Management (ESM) in Libr... more This study investigated the issues and challenges of Electronic Security Management (ESM) in Libraries and Information Centres. It is a systematic review of literatures from Nigerian scene and global perspectives. The objectives included discussions on the conceptions of electronic security management and its rationale, types of Electronic Security Systems (ESSs) used in libraries and information centres and analysis of the various issues and challenges of ESM in library and information centres. Top management commitment and support, entrenching a security conscious culture, ESM policy, good governance and personnel management issues were highlighted. It was therefore concluded that ESM helps reduce or eliminate security risks against library resources, systems, facilities and equipment as well as safeguard the library staff and users respectively. Also, it is recommended among others that librarians should acquire lobbying and negotiation skills in order to assist them in community engagement and advocacy with their top management team and other donor agencies. These and many other skills are useful in seeking for funding or any support for the library.

Such centre's as serve as rehabilitation centre's were individuals are expected to be trained and counsel in order to be reintegrated and accepted into the society after serving their jail term. However, the need to have a standard library is imperative specifically it will help in educating, enlightening and entertaining the inmates by the provision of adequate information resources and services. An assessment of library information resource and services for inmates in correctional centre's in Katsina metropolis of both the central and medium was carried out. The population of convicted inmates in the two correctional centre's was 1658. 322 inmates were sampled from the two correctional centre's for the study. A wellstructured questionnaire was used to collect data from the inmates. 320 inmates responded, representing (99.4%) of both males and females inmates response rate. The study revealed that there is inadequate information resources in the library from the items tested, also there is poor services rendered by the library. Out of the 14 items tested, 12 items portrayed very poor service provision, while the remaining two items; Lending service and information consultation service were the only one offered to the inmates. The paper, therefore, recommends that the library in the correctional centre's should be equipped with available and updated information resources and library services be fully rendered in order to facilitate their rehabilitation and improve inmates reformation for proper reintegration to the society.

This emphasizes the need for critical evaluation and discernment when utilizing these sources. The study recommends that Federal Universities should establish guidelines and recommendations for accessing health information related to Text Neck Syndrome. This can include promoting reliable websites and platforms for health information, collaborating with reputable health specialists, and creating official social media groups or channels where accurate information is shared and discussed. Encouraging critical thinking skills to discern credible sources from unreliable ones is also essential.

This paper aimed at investigating the channels used by public libraries in information disseminat... more This paper aimed at investigating the channels used by public libraries in information dissemination for sustainable rural development in the North-Western States of Nigeria. The main objective of this paper was to determine the channels used by public libraries to disseminate information in rural areas for sustainable development. The methodology used in carrying this study was survey research using a questionnaire as the research instrument. The study involved 52 branch libraries of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi and Zamfara states. The population of
the study comprised 52 heads of branch public libraries in the States under study. The findings revealed that traditional printed materials such as books and magazines were the most common channels public libraries used to disseminate information to rural communities in the area under
study. Other channels used were centralized library services at the local government headquarters, audio/visuals, and posters among others. However, the study found that public libraries in the North-Western States of Nigeria did not use Community Information Resource Centers, ICTs,
extension workers and town criers in disseminating information to rural dwellers. Similarly, the paper identified challenges associated with the provision of public library services in the study area. Finally, the paper came up with recommendations that can be used to address the challenges identified

reasons for non-compliance to child spacing
information. Using Chatman’s (2000) theory of
normative behavior as a theoretical framework to
guide the investigation. The study adopted
interpretative research paradigm and also qualitative
research method guided data collection, data
analysis, data interpretation, and discussion of
findings. Twenty child-bearing women were
interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire.
The study adopted analytic inductive process to
identify 235 narratives explaining socio-cultural
reasons for non-compliance to child spacing
information. The narratives are organized into 13
recurring topics and further collapsed into four
emergent categories to explain the socio-cultural
reasons for non-compliance to child spacing
information. Findings interpreted using Chatman’s
(2000) theory of normative behavior suggest that for
there to be a sustained acceptance and use of child
spacing methods, there is critical need for child
spacing information program, to design child spacing
information services based on the social and cultural
dynamics of the child-bearing women who are
resistance to child spacing information and services.
Future research areas for sustained acceptance of the
child spacing information services are identified.

This paper studied youths' information access on the social media for their socio-political participation in northwest state Nigeria. Two research questions and hypothesis were raised for the study: What types of social media platforms do youths access information for socio-political participation in Northwest States of Nigeria? How reliable are the social media used by the youths to access information for socio-political participation in Northwest States of Nigeria? Quantitative methodology, cross-sectional survey design and questionnaire were used to guide the study and collect sample 343 randomly from a population 201,062 of youths in universities in northwest states Nigeria. The data collected were analysed using frequency count, percentage, mean, median and one-way ANOVA. The findings revealed that, the common types of social media platforms used to access information by youths in northwest states in Nigeria were Whatsapp and Facebook, Youtube, Telegram, Twitter, Opera news, Messenger, Phoenix, Naija.com and Myspace. The highly reliable social media as indicated by the youths in Northwest States Nigeria were Facebook and Twitter, Youtube, GistNaija, Naija.com, Messenger, Blogs, Phoenix, Whatsapp and Viber and there is significant difference in the type of information available on the social media platform for youths' socio-political participation in universities of Northwest States Nigeria. It was concluded that, the participation of youths in socio-political activities is essential to emerging democracies like Nigeria. The absence of comprehensive studies on youths' participation via social media platforms in universities of Northwest States Nigeria hampers understanding of the subject and inference in recent times of emerging varied agitations and concerns. This study has in response, produced basis for understanding youths' socio-political participation in terms of information available on social media, the reliability of the social media and the discussion they engage in. Ministries of Information and communication and youths in Northwest States of Nigeria should as a matter policy, factor in social media platforms particularly, Whatsapp, Facebook, twitter and Youtube when designing and initiating socio-political programs that affect the youths and ensure they make available verifiable information on the platforms. The youths in Northwest States of Nigeria must be mindful of the reliability of social media platforms at all times, find out more about the reliability of the social media they intend to use and for what purpose. They should also, adhere to awareness, enlightenment and sensitization campaigns launched by National Orientation Campaign, ministries of information and security agencies on the volatility of information on social media.
