The problems occurred including difficulties to get birth certificate for children with unmarried foreign father where the mother works, parents’ history of contagious diseases, prone situation to crimes act such as gang quarrel, drug abuse, sex before marriage, and unwed pregnancy. This research aims to comprehend the problems related to migrant workers’ children and the role of PEDULI program to provide a solution in facing the problems. Data gathered by conducting interview and observation. The research was conducted in Tulungagung, East Java. Informants for this research are children and family of migrant workers, community figures, Child Protection Agency, and government agencies. The phenomenon of globalization in Nusantara actually was happened for long time ago. There is in... more The phenomenon of globalization in Nusantara actually was happened for long time ago. There is international trade between Nusantara and some countries in Asia and Europe. The meetings between traders in that era reflected the encounter of different civilizations as well as, that was able to transcend geographical and cultural boundaries. This paper would like to seek for an explanation about the phenomenon of globalization which Nusantara is taking a pivotal role in international trade. There are a lot of goods traded in that time, such as spices as a mainstay product. Important to explore the glory of Nusantara since, regarding modern era, identity must be supported by strong root history through shared memory and experience. Nusantara must be reinvented as a strong provision to strengthen national identity which is increasingly threatened by modernization.

Secara resmi kedua negara ini mulai menjalin hubungan diplomatik tahun 1950. Walau demikian hubungan baik antara Indonesia dan Australia telah terjalin semenjak Indonesia pertama kali menyatakan kemerdekaannya pada tanggal 17 Agustus 1945.

Activities of Non Governmental Organization (NGOs) around the world vary by degrees, as do their ... more Activities of Non Governmental Organization (NGOs) around the world vary by degrees, as do their relationships with international organizations, corporations and other civil society organizations. Until recently, it is widely accepted that NGOs that able to operate internationally mostly coming from developed countries, while due to various limitations the ones from developing countries tend to operate locally which in most cases working together with NGOs from developed countries. Scaling-up is a term referring to a means by which smaller NGOs especially from developing countries or Southern NGOs (SNGOs) can participate at the world table or operate internationally. Looking at the experience of Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB Foundation) as an example of SNGOs that has successfully operated internationally, this paper reveals several motivations for the scaling-up of SNGOs. The paper identifies three related motivations, namely the agenda of south-south transfer, NGOs bargaining power, and a competitive environment faced by NGOs. While the first motivation is normative in lieu of YCAB Foundation as a non-profit organization, the other two motivations tend to be pragmatic and closely related to economic considerations.

Winning public trust is an important element supporting the continuity of a firm or corporations,... more Winning public trust is an important element supporting the continuity of a firm or corporations, as public acceptance could guarantee profit to come in. Hence the loss of public trust is a serious threat for a corporation. For corporations, many factors could end up in the loss of public trust, and one issue that could lead to this situation is allegations of environmental destruction by corporations in their business operation. In facing this situation, corporations have to take various strategies in winning-back public trust. Taking one of the largest, publicly-listed, integrated palmbased consumer companies in Indonesia widely known as PT Sinar Mas Agrobusiness and Technology (hereafter SMART) as a case study, this paper reveals strategies that have been employed by SMART in order to winning-back public acceptance. The paper finds that through a process of multiactor bargaining in the mechanism facilitated by Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), SMART has been able to gaining-back public acceptance and successfully defending its position from allegations of environmental destruction.

However, Indonesia’s relations with these countries face contention due to it being perceived as “big and aggressive.” This is evident in its decision to oppose the independence of Papua. After decades of seeking good relations, Jakarta has opened its Eastern door by creating a closer link with the Pacific countries through the provision of aid. Although the government has made various efforts to prevent and combat tropical diseases, the incidence of tropical diseases is still high. This study aims at exploring the application of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) treatment of tropical diseases in East Java, covering the aspects of participation, transparency, and accountability. The approach used is a qualitative research with the setting of health stakeholders in four regencies of Madiun, Bojonegoro, Sampang and Surabaya. The results show that the handling governance of pulmonary TB disease, leprosy, dipthery, and HIV/AIDS that includes aspects of participation, transparency, and accountability has been well implemented, ranging from the level of planning, implementation to evaluation, although not yet fully run optimally. The emergence of cities in diplomacy represents the multi-centric world rather than state-centric world in post-Westphalian diplomacy. By using Surabaya as a case study and examining how it overcomes environmental challenges, we will show how a city can play a crucial role in the realization of responsible development. We will focus on the mayor’s efforts to decentralize Surabaya by making the city’s diplomacy down-to-earth and people-oriented, especially in environmental-related issues. This overturns the idea that diplomacy is the reserve of diplomats and political elites, with little connection to the welfare of the people, especially those at the grassroots level.
