In producing a language, someone uses many ways to express his/her feelings, such as metaphors wh... more In producing a language, someone uses many ways to express his/her feelings, such as metaphors which full of artistic values. To understand those expressions, we have to compare the tenor and vehicle to get the similar meaning between them, so we can grab the implisit meaning. Samin community in Klopoduwur village expresses metaphor in daily conversation influenced by the their culture. Most of the metaphors have semasiologic meaning, that is the same expression represented in many concepts. To find out the implisit meaning, we have to analyze either tenor or vehicle related with the culture.

The writer had made three objects of research. The first research is to find out how many affixes were used in the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran, the second research is to find out what types were used in the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran, the third research is to find out what types were dominant use in the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran. In this study, the writer uses a descriptive mixed method that described, identified, classified, and calculated numerical data on the words of affixes found in Kahlil Gibran’s poetry. The data for this study was sourced from the official website and statistical books from the Department of Environment and Forestry, Central Java Province. Although short, abstract writing must pay attention to several things. One indicator of good writing is marked by using logical, consistent words that are easy to understand. This study aims to identify the types of cohesion (grammatical and lexical) and coherence in writing abstracts for final students of AKI University and whether they have fulfilled cohesive and coherent writing. This study analyzes 16 undergraduate thesis abstracts for the English Literature study program for the 2019-2022 and 2020-2021 academic years. This study uses qualitative and quantitative research methods to achieve this goal. The result shows that the students use lexical cohesion devices much more than grammatical ones. The objectives of this study were to identify the segmental changes resulted in the articulation of English mispronounced words produced by most young learners, to describe the different elements between Indonesian and English sound systems, and to explain the phonological interference of mother tongue in English mispronunciation. This study uses descriptive qualitative research design performed on ten primary school students selected by using purposive sampling in Semarang. Efforts to avoid horizontal collisions do not mean that a society is clear from multiculturalism of culture, religion, social life and free from friction among groups. Harmonization is actually expected to be created in all communities throughout Indonesia not only by the awareness and attitudes of each party to accept differences but also by the ability to develop them as dynamic potentials that provide opportunities and hopes for the progress of the Indonesian nation. Based on the background of the problems, it is important to conduct a study to make the economy of Magelang Regency, Central Java community as a policy model for improving people's welfare among multi ethnicity, culture, and religion in Indonesian by empowering society. It can be done by using two approaches, namely the top-down approach or often called the trickle down model and the bottom-up approach model, those are creating tourism village and providing power to the society or called empowerment.

Dialectology is the study of dialects or the study of language variations. Kudus and Pati are two... more Dialectology is the study of dialects or the study of language variations. Kudus and Pati are two neighbouring towns. Even though the towns are close, there are many different dialects between the two. The objectives of this study are to find out the characteristics and the differences between Pati and Kudus dialect. The research design is descriptive qualitative method and the data collection method to get the data are simak, interview and introspective methods. The results of this study show that there are some differences in both dialects. The dialect variations which occurs in both observation areas are phonological differences which consist of the process of vowel and consonant change, morphological differences with the affixation differences, syntax differences for affirmation, and lexical differences in which the different words have the same meaning. The research gives contribution to the development of local language, especially Javanese related to the Javanese teaching at school, so that it will make the teaching and learning process getting easier in Kudus and Pati. Meanwhile for practical contribution, it completes Javanese standard and Javanese dictionary.

The model is needed as an effort to build and maintain social harmony of all regions in Indonesia that consist of plurality (multi-ethnicity and multi-religion). Based on the problem, this study is carried out in Magelang regency as a sample of region in Indonesia which has multicultural differences but the people live in harmony. The method of this study is descriptive analytic. Data collection techniques are taken by collecting basic data that are directly related to the object of this research, namely interviews and questionnaires. These collecting data techniques are supported by observation and literature studies related to this research problem. The results of this research are social conditions, local wisdom, cultural conditions, and geographical conditions are factors of the emergence of multiculturalism, but by the awareness and attitude of each party to accept differences, the people are able to develop it as a synergistic power and dynamic potential in people's lives for the future.

If they intend to ask something, they can express the idea in strategies in order to gain the goal. One strategy to fulfill the intention is politeness. By doing politeness speaker tends to avoid the ‘face’ of hearer, such as insulting or directing. Politeness influenced by power, social distance, and weight of imposition can be expressed by positif and negative politeness to lessen the irritating of the hearer. Complaining letter in readers’ forum is a means for readers to complain their problem in newspapaper. The question arises: Do the readers apply politeness in complaining in order to avoid FTA? These differences exist in many life aspects such as culture, economic area, language, and art. Indonesian culture believes that woman and man have different role. Woman has lower position than man. It is shown from many songs which contain the ideology of woman’s inferiority in the society. To establish the relation between song lyrics and ideology of gender differences, critical discourse analysis is applied to identify song writer’s ideology about woman. As the result, there are four ideologies which humiliate woman’s position. It identifies woman as second part in every life aspect which means woman has lower position than man.

One way to communicate is conversation which has rule in interaction such as turn taking and adjacency pair. Beside conversation analysis, it is essential to identify other issue in discourse analysis, namely implicit asumption to know the implicit meaning of the speaker. In interaction there is an assumption phenomenon involving power between speakers in turn taking and adjacency pair, as well as overlapping called ideology which has close relation with language. Speaker tends to show his/her power to others for many reason, such as to control the turn, to control the type of adjacency pairs, and to show his/her social status.

If they intend to ask something, they can express the idea in strategies in order to gain the goal. One strategy to fulfill the intention is politeness. By doing politeness speaker tends to avoid the ‘face’ of hearer, such as insulting or directing. Politeness influenced by power, social distance, and weight of imposition can be expressed by positif and negative politeness to lessen the irritating of the hearer. Complaining letter in readers’ forum is a means for readers to complain their problem in newspapaper. The question arises: Do the readers apply politeness in complaining in order to avoid FTA? These differences exist in many life aspects such as culture, economic area, language, and art. Indonesian culture believes that woman and man have different role. Woman has lower position than man. It is shown from many songs which contain the ideology of woman’s inferiority in the society. To establish the relation between song lyrics and ideology of gender differences, critical discourse analysis is applied to identify song writer’s ideology about woman. As the result, there are four ideologies which humiliate woman’s position. It identifies woman as second part in every life aspect which means woman has lower position than man.

To understand those expressions, we have to compare the tenor and vehicle to get the similar meaning between them, so we can grab the implisit meaning. Samin community in Klopoduwur village expresses metaphor in daily conversation influenced by the their culture. Most of the metaphors have semasiologic meaning, that is the same expression represented in many concepts. To find out the implisit meaning, we have to analyze either tenor or vehicle related with the culture.

One way to communicate is conversation which has rule in interaction such as turn taking and adjacency pair. Beside conversation analysis, it is essential to identify other issue in discourse analysis, namely implicit asumption to know the implicit meaning of the speaker. In interaction there is an assumption phenomenon involving power between speakers in turn taking and adjacency pair, as well as overlapping called ideology which has close relation with language. Speaker tends to show his/her power to others for many reason, such as to control the turn, to control the type of adjacency pairs, and to show his/her social status.
