Research paper thumbnail of Membership in the Region of the Double Cluster h and χ Persei Working from Proper Motions and Positions: Distance Moduli and Extinction in That Galactic Direction

Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 2002

The extinction and the distance moduli are determined once the physical cluster members are found. R V

Nowdays based on near-infrared spectroscopy L-band spectroscopy and data collected from ground and space-based observatories is possible to explore the occurrence of starbursts in the dusty torus (Imanishi et al. 2004). Because the torus

This statistical analysis allows to discriminate two different groups in the sample following the Expectation Maximization algorithm. These two found theoretical tridimensional groups show a very high agreement with the groups that come from observations of galaxies of types Seyfert 1, Seyfert 2, Quasars and Ulirgs, taken into account the classification found in the published literature.

Photometric and spectroscopic data were used to discriminate these processes in a sample of starburst, infrared galaxies and AGNs. Herein, we propose new diagnostic diagrams based on the 7.7 {\mu}m polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon emission band, the L(MIR, FIR) infrared ratio and the q parameter. The diagnostic diagrams allow us to discriminate the behavior of quasars and Seyfert 1-Seyfert 2 galaxies from starburst and LIRGs-ULIRGs objects.

In this way, we have performed a study about the correlation between the flux of the 7.7 μm PAH band and its equivalent width, with the luminosities and fluxes observed in JHK photometric bands, IRAS 12, 25, 60 and 100 μm, the radio emission at 1.4GHz and X-ray at 2-10 keV, for a sample composed of Seyfert 1-2, QSOs, Quasars, Starburst, and ULIRGs. The results found let us discriminate between objects with more star formation activity from others with more AGN influence.
