Consequently, these studies were categorized into deficit (what is lacking) and affordance (what knowledge enables) approaches. Yet, research literature is very scarce on what future teachers’ geometry knowledge is: what is its content and structure. In research, under the term of personal epistemology are regrouped studies on people’s perceptions on the nature of knowledge and knowing, in particular those of future or in-service teachers. The main research tool of these studies is a closed item questionnaire with questions usually targeting four aspects of knowledge: certainty, simplicity, source, and justification of knowledge. A shortcoming of this approach is in the difference between professed and enacted epistemologies: the questionnaires measure professed epistemologies, yet these can differ from what is manifested in a spontaneous manner, for ...

We propose two difficulty factors and analyze their role in the difficulty assessment process. The pilot ...

We used the method of a teaching experiment to evaluate the applicability of the developed approach to cases of students with dyslexia and to modify it, if necessary, to meet these students’ needs. Our data suggest that: a) the understanding of the mathematical structure of a problem is independent of the student's basic numerical knowledge, and b) there are conditions that allow a dyslexic student to develop mathematical reasoning to solve written problems despite difficulties in reading and writing of numbers and text.

In this article we explore students-prospective teachers' written productions of a set of instructions in a learning situation. Through three emblematic cases we illustrate how a communication task focused on a partner selected by the student reveal snot only the student's domain-specific knowledge, but also a mental frame induced by an assumed paradigm, which is both constrained by the student's knowledge level, and purpose oriented by the need of successful social interaction.
