[mood** |amused] [music** | in head: The Magnetic Fields' "My Only Friend"]i hearby decree that in GPHB, a box full of kittens shall be called: a "treasure" of kittens. because "litter" just doesn't aptly describe it. 2-week-old kittens are SO SCRUMPTIOUS. especially the ones that like to be upside-down a lot.yes. that is all.EDIT: perhaps in the later weeks of kittens' life, they become a "chaos" of kittens, but in weeks 0-3, they are a treasure. and wobbly. |

[**mood** |hungry]this is x-posted from my own journal because someone at some point said we should have a g.p.h.b. recipe book...Butternut Squash Bisque (sorry, bluewillowtree, that it took so long!)Ingredients:1 lb peeled and seeded butternut squash5 cups chicken stock (i used mushroom-onion soup to have it be veggie-only)1/2 cup brown sugar (i used 1/4 cup just cuz i usually reduce sugar in recipes)nutmeg, to tastecinnamon, to tasteoptional: heavy whipping cream, roasted squash seeds (i did not choose this option at the party)Directions:1. Simmer the squash with the stock/soup until the squash is very soft.2. Remove from heat and place into blender. With blender on high-speed, whip in the sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon.3. Optional: Add heavy whipping cream and roasted squash seeds. | |

battle cries? | [Jun. 9th, 2004|04:29 pm]Glorious People's Hypocrisy of Bavaria |

[mood** |bouncy] [music** | intracranial -- chelsea morning, joni mitchell]do we have any official battle cries? who is our war dept, if we have such a nasty thing as that? bluewillowtree and I were thinking "yay kitten" might be a good battle cry, but that it would also make sense for such a widespread diaspora as ours is to have many different battle cries! |

at squankumhaus...What: garden party (nothing fancy like BMC garden parties, just -- well, in the garden, and a party). If it rains, we have the cozy inside, or we can just get wet, so please still come. When: June 12th (Sat), late afternoon / early evening. People will probably be coming and going at differing times. I guess it's around 5 or 6pm that the garden starts cooling off from the day's sun, so that's a good startish time.Where: my place. if you need directions, let me know and i'll get them to you. also let me know if you need a ride. for those of you who might want to bike, let me know and I can work out a route for you from wherever (jimmi_obadger and greyhoundliz, if you want to try something different from last time, I can work out a route from the Atco train station, or the Lindenwold station if you want to take PATCO instead of NJTransit).EDIT: and if you want to stay over that night, you're welcome to. we have a fold-out single bed, a roll-out full-size futon and a big sofa inside, but if I were you I'd bring a tent and use the prime camping-out yard space with fire pit to boot. | |

So i've been in touch with Rehema Trimiew, who seems to be doing the class of 2000 website. She wants photos. I figure this is a chance to show the less presentable side of Bryn Mawr. Thing is, all my photos feature you-all, and i'd rather not post them without your permission. Thoughts on the matter? | |

The Great Bavarian Crap Swap is on. My house, next Thursday and Friday evenings. Bring all the stuff you rather not move but think someone else might find useful. We'll make the upstairs room a giant free box, and let people root through it at will. Anything not claimed will be dumped at the God Shop whenever we get around to it. | |

UnCookbook | [Jul. 28th, 2003|03:10 pm]Glorious People's Hypocrisy of Bavaria |
---|---|
So i have this blank cookbook that i inherited from my grandmother. My mom has one too; it's full of actual tried-and-true recipes she and her mom and her mom's sisters have collected from assorted friends, relations, neighbors, and other cookbooks over the years. It mostly contains very precise formulas for Red Meat, overly-sweet desserts, and stodge.I am not interested in these things.So. Send me recipes for things that actual humans can eat without dying young of heart disease. Things that can be made without arcane foodstuffs last seen on supermarket shelves in 1972. Things you've invented, and things you keep making even though you use more substitutions than recommended ingredients. Things you've actually fed me over the years, cause dammit, most of you are good cooks, and it's high time i got around to compiling The Great Bavarian UnCookbook. | |
