\u3cp\u3eCloud Computing has emerged as an economical option to use IT resources when needed with... more \u3cp\u3eCloud Computing has emerged as an economical option to use IT resources when needed without considerations about where they are allocated or how they are delivered. Cloud Computing expands the SOA capabilities by adding scalability, elasticity and other relevant quality attributes. In this context, many companies have started to migrate their SOA applications to Cloud environments without proper support. We conducted a systematic mapping study to gather the current knowledge about existing strategies for migrating SOA applications to cloud computing. 105 papers were identified and the results show that most of the approaches follow a semi-automated (conventional) strategy for migrating to the Cloud (93%) and that most of the reported works follow a hybrid deployment model (60%). We additionally identify several research gaps such as the need for more technology-independent solutions, a common definition for concepts and resources, tool support, and validation.\u3c/p\u3

The price of cocoa has generated concern in small farmers dedicated to the cultivation of this fr... more The price of cocoa has generated concern in small farmers dedicated to the cultivation of this fruit, which has led to the search for ventures that contribute to the family economically. The objective of this work is to make known the interest of the farmers to produce handmade chocolate. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used, through a survey of 10 research questions, applied to 140 farmers in La Garganta Campus. The results expressed that the majority of farmers recognize that the price of cocoa is not significant, which has led to the process of cultivation as raw material for the production of homemade chocolate, demanding the need to know the improvements in terms of preparation and presentation of the product for sale.

The aim of this study was to adapt a research model that describes the behaviour of use and the intended use of e-learning systems in Ecuador students, based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) developed by Fred Davis. A self-report questionnaire was designed to examine the student's acceptance and attitude towards e-learning system. The success of an e-learning system depends largely on the acceptance and use that teachers give ... more The success of an e-learning system depends largely on the acceptance and use that teachers give this tool. After critically evaluate models of technology adoption, including the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and TAM2, we built a conceptual model to predict the level of acceptance and use of elearning system among teachers. This model extends TAM2 and includes technical support, computer self-efficacy, social influence, perceived enjoyment and satisfaction. Data were collected from 145 teachers of a University in Ecuador. For data collection, a form in Likert scale was sent by email. Upon receipt of the data, these missing data reported 4.2%, to correct this data imputation method it was applied for replacement by mean. After performing the checks about satisfactory reliability and validity, the structural model was tested using PLS. The results indicate that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have a direct effect on the intension of using e-learning systems. Perceived enjoyment, perceived ease of use and social influence have a direct effect on the perceived usefulness. Perceived enjoyment and computer self-efficacy both have a direct effect on perceived ease of use of e-learning systems. Universities Principals should not only worry about the basic design of e-learning systems, but also explicitly address individual differences among teachers using elearning system.

Resumen El presente trabajo investigativo nace de la necesidad planteada en las diferentes normat... more Resumen El presente trabajo investigativo nace de la necesidad planteada en las diferentes normativas establecidas en el Ecuador, en las que se evidencia la urgencia de transformar el sistema educativo nacional a través del desarrollo de la investigación en la educación superior, convirtiendo al uso del Aprendizaje Basado en la Investigación (ABI), en una buena estrategia didáctica para lograr su fin. La investigación pretende demostrar la relación existente entre el incremento de la producción científica docente y el uso de la metodología didáctica del Aprendizaje Basado en Investigación, dentro del proceso didáctico en las aulas de la Universidad Estatal de Milagro, UNEMI, con el fin de contribuir a la creación de nuevos conocimientos. Se trata de una investigación cuali-cuantitativa de tipo transversal, que tiene como participantes a 304 estudiantes. Como instrumento se utilizó el Cuestionario ABI, creado por las autoras y los datos fueron analizados a través del programa IBM SPSS. Los resultados obtenidos indican el crecimiento en el uso de documentos científicos por los estudiantes (76,32%) y el aumento de la producción científica de los docentes. Se concluye que existe una relación entre los estudiantes que utilizan más información científica para realizar sus trabajos autónomos y los profesores que comparten sus investigaciones en el aula. This work is about the use of the ICTs in organizations, it is suggested that this use is by mean... more This work is about the use of the ICTs in organizations, it is suggested that this use is by means of methodologically guided processes. The pattern proposed begins from an organizational diagnostic and of the ICTs; then the strategic planning of the ICTs is developed and organizational alignment. Here the key is to compile a list of viable projects with their execution priorities. The pattern continues with the management risk and the selection of solutions of ICTs; next step is purchase and implementation of solution of the ICT. Finally the planning of ICTs is control and continuous improvement, corrections and opportunities for improvement are identified, and if necessary, the strategy is adjusted. Prerequisites of the application of the mentioned pattern are: to have a system of institutional planning, and a technological committee formed by the main executives of the organization to negotiate the strategic planning of the ICTs, Examples are cited of organizations in which the model presented was applied successfully.

The aim of this study was to adapt a research model that describes the behaviour of use and the intended use of e-learning systems in Ecuador students, based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) developed by Fred Davis. A self-report questionnaire was designed to examine the student's acceptance and attitude towards e-learning system. Data from 263 undergraduate and graduate students were collected in a University of Ecuador. The model is composed of eight constructs, namely, technical support, computer self-efficacy, subjective norms, satisfaction, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, intention to use the system and use the system. The model was estimated using structural equation modelling (SEM), for which the software was used R. It was found that the technical support and computer self-efficacy served as the two anchors of significant perception of fundamental constructs in TAM. Satisfaction became the sole determining factor in predicting use, while subjective norms were significant to the prediction of intention to use e-learning system. Overall, subjective norms, computer self-efficacy and perceived ease of use were able to explain the most variation observed in the intention of the students to use e-learning system.

The success of an e-learning system depends largely on the acceptance and use that teachers give ... more The success of an e-learning system depends largely on the acceptance and use that teachers give this tool. After critically evaluate models of technology adoption, including the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and TAM2, we built a conceptual model to predict the level of acceptance and use of elearning system among teachers. This model extends TAM2 and includes technical support, computer self-efficacy, social influence, perceived enjoyment and satisfaction. Data were collected from 145 teachers of a University in Ecuador. For data collection, a form in Likert scale was sent by email. Upon receipt of the data, these missing data reported 4.2%, to correct this data imputation method it was applied for replacement by mean. After performing the checks about satisfactory reliability and validity, the structural model was tested using PLS. The results indicate that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have a direct effect on the intension of using e-learning systems. Perceived enjoyment, perceived ease of use and social influence have a direct effect on the perceived usefulness. Perceived enjoyment and computer self-efficacy both have a direct effect on perceived ease of use of e-learning systems. Universities Principals should not only worry about the basic design of e-learning systems, but also explicitly address individual differences among teachers using elearning system.

Resumen El presente trabajo investigativo nace de la necesidad planteada en las diferentes normat... more Resumen El presente trabajo investigativo nace de la necesidad planteada en las diferentes normativas establecidas en el Ecuador, en las que se evidencia la urgencia de transformar el sistema educativo nacional a través del desarrollo de la investigación en la educación superior, convirtiendo al uso del Aprendizaje Basado en la Investigación (ABI), en una buena estrategia didáctica para lograr su fin. La investigación pretende demostrar la relación existente entre el incremento de la producción científica docente y el uso de la metodología didáctica del Aprendizaje Basado en Investigación, dentro del proceso didáctico en las aulas de la Universidad Estatal de Milagro, UNEMI, con el fin de contribuir a la creación de nuevos conocimientos. Se trata de una investigación cuali-cuantitativa de tipo transversal, que tiene como participantes a 304 estudiantes. Como instrumento se utilizó el Cuestionario ABI, creado por las autoras y los datos fueron analizados a través del programa IBM SPSS. Los resultados obtenidos indican el crecimiento en el uso de documentos científicos por los estudiantes (76,32%) y el aumento de la producción científica de los docentes. Se concluye que existe una relación entre los estudiantes que utilizan más información científica para realizar sus trabajos autónomos y los profesores que comparten sus investigaciones en el aula. Cloud Computing has emerged as an economical option to use IT resources when needed without consi... more Cloud Computing has emerged as an economical option to use IT resources when needed without considerations about where they are allocated or how they are delivered. Cloud Computing expands the SOA capabilities by adding scalability, elasticity and other relevant quality attributes. In this context, many companies have started to migrate their SOA applications to Cloud environments without proper support. We conducted a systematic mapping study to gather the current knowledge about existing strategies for migrating SOA applications to cloud computing. 105 papers were identified and the results show that most of the approaches follow a semi-automated (conventional) strategy for migrating to the Cloud (93%) and that most of the reported works follow a hybrid deployment model (60%). We additionally identify several research gaps such as the need for more technology-independent solutions , a common definition for concepts and resources, tool support, and validation.

This work is about the use of the ICTs in organizations, it is suggested that this use is by mean... more This work is about the use of the ICTs in organizations, it is suggested that this use is by means of methodologically guided processes. The pattern proposed begins from an organizational diagnostic and of the ICTs; then the strategic planning of the ICTs is developed and organizational alignment. Here the key is to compile a list of viable projects with their execution priorities. The pattern continues with the management risk and the selection of solutions of ICTs; next step is purchase and implementation of solution of the ICT. Finally the planning of ICTs is control and continuous improvement, corrections and opportunities for improvement are identified, and if necessary, the strategy is adjusted. Prerequisites of the application of the mentioned pattern are: to have a system of institutional planning, and a technological committee formed by the main executives of the organization to negotiate the strategic planning of the ICTs, Examples are cited of organizations in which the model presented was applied successfully.

The e-learning information systems are widely used in universities to improve their courses, alth... more The e-learning information systems are widely used in universities to improve their courses, although this does not always achieve the objective of facilitating the teaching-learning process, there are several factors that avoid it. The aim of this study was to adapt a research model that describes the behaviour of use and the intended use of e-learning systems in Ecuador students, based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) developed by Fred Davis. A self-report questionnaire was designed to examine the student's acceptance and attitude towards e-learning system. Data from 263 undergraduate and graduate students were collected in a University of Ecuador. The model is composed of eight constructs, namely, technical support, computer self-efficacy, subjective norms, satisfaction, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, intention to use the system and use the system. The model was estimated using structural equation modelling (SEM), for which the software was used R. It was found that the technical support and computer self-efficacy served as the two anchors of significant perception of fundamental constructs in TAM. Satisfaction became the sole determining factor in predicting use, while subjective norms were significant to the prediction of intention to use e-learning system. Overall, subjective norms, computer self-efficacy and perceived ease of use were able to explain the most variation observed in the intention of the students to use e-learning system.
