It investigates the economics of implement-ing forest and REDD+ projects through a number of case studies from Africa, Latin America and Asia, by analyzing real forest and REDD+ investments. The report sets out to advise policymakers, financial sector stakeholders and project developers on how to structure REDD+ initiatives and implement national REDD+ strategies, especially in relation to attracting private and/or public investments. The report has been funded by the UN-REDD Programme. Economics of forests and forest carbon projects Translating lessons learned into national REDD+ implementation

This led to a horizontal low-density urban expansion model that resulted in long distances between homes and working places or services. Meanwhile, a public transport system that has not been modernized fails to meet the current needs of displacement. As a result, private cars heavily congest the GAM. The number of private cars has tripled in the last twenty years (in 2013 were 1.5 Mio cars in Costa Rica). The Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) of the GAM aims to help to achieve the Carbon neutrality goal of Costa Rica. Therefore, the mitigation measures contemplated by the LCDS could be aggregated in the four following lines of action: 1) Integrated, compacted an mixed use city centers, which grows through the consolidation and renovation of 122 different urban centers which together establishes the new ...

The leaf content of these pollutants where always slightly higher in M. azederach as compared to S. molle. Differences between sampling years and between sites could be detected and especially for chloride a point source for emission could be identified. It was possible to detect sulphur and chloride as an essential component of dust particles. Among gaseous pollutants dust has also be taken into consideration as a source of fluoride, chloride and sulphur. The presented study has proved the suitability of M. azederach and S. molle as bioaccumulators and further investigations should lead to the development of appropriate threshold levels for this region.

The study is based on an analysis of the mitigation potential in 16 countries in the Caribbean Region, due to the interconnection of renewable energy to the grid, the modeling of in-country energy sector development and its associated emissions for different scenarios; that include both the “business as usual” and “mitigation” due to the scaling up of Renewable Energy Technology. The study also looks at the experience from participation in the CDM in the region and narrows on some of the perceived institutional challenges, especially from the perspective of Programme of Activities...
