Ademas, este tipo de construcciones, cada vez son mas grandes por las nuevas capacidades y exigencias del ser humano y tienen en muchas ocasiones la facultad de provocar importantes impactos visuales en grandes extensiones de terreno rural. La normativa al respecto, en la mayoria de las localizaciones, es muy difusa en sus exigencias respecto a la integracion visual en el entorno y los criterios que propone no siempre son los mas acertados. En una economia global en la que los cambios se suceden de manera vertiginosa, la capacidad de ad... more En una economia global en la que los cambios se suceden de manera vertiginosa, la capacidad de adaptacion a los nuevos tiempos debe ser prioritario para la evolucion de la industria. Existe una necesidad cada vez mas creciente, de digitalizar el flujo de trabajo en el proceso constructivo. Se analizaran las principales causas de la baja productividad del sector. Y como se puede mejorar mediante el empleo de nuevas metodologias de trabajo como es BIM (Building Information Modeling). Se realiza una revision bibliografica, que avala este cambio de paradigma. La irrupcion de esta tecnologia esta haciendo que gobiernos y universidades de otros paises apuesten por la integracion y formacion de profesionales en esta materia. Por ultimo se presentan aqui los resultados obtenidos de una encuesta publica difundida a traves de internet. Los resultados de dicha encuesta arrojaran algo de luz en algunas cuestiones referentes a la metodologia BIM en Espana.

One of the main objectives in rural areas must be to maintain a balance between economic and sustainable development. In the exterior design of buildings, it is necessary to follow technical and scientific criteria that respect the natural environment, and one of the most important parameters in this scenario is façade color. This article analyzes the costs of using different colors on façades and how color variations affect the integration of buildings in the rural landscape. It addresses the context of rural buildings in the Extremadura region of Spain, where large areas of undeveloped land are available to drive economic development. Ten technical projects and photos of buildings were used for the study. The emergence of building information modeling (BIM) methodology requires the training of profess... more The emergence of building information modeling (BIM) methodology requires the training of professionals with both specific and transversal skills. In this paper, a project-based learning experience carried out in the context of a project management course at the University of Extremadura is analyzed. To that end, a questionnaire was designed and given to students who participated in the initiative. Results suggest that BIM can be considered a virtual learning environment, from which students value the competences developed. The emotional performance observed was quite flat. Similarly, students valued the usefulness of the initiative. Students expressed a desire for the methodological change of the university classes, and thought that BIM methodology could be useful for other courses. The results obtained show a line of work to be done to improve the training of students and university teaching.

Poor planning of building projects is observed to definitely increase both time consumption and c... more Poor planning of building projects is observed to definitely increase both time consumption and costs. Limitations of existing studies about contrast between BIM 4D methodology and conventional graphic planning, focus on comparing them from a qualitative point of view, without quantifying their real performance. The present paper is aimed at performing a quantitative analysis on BIM 4D methodology as compared to conventional graphic planning. Provided this novel methodology accounts for building elements including technical and visual information, subsequent construction operations would be carried out in a more controlled and a more accurate environment. In particular, a balance between suitable construction data management included in the BIM model and appropriate use of task planning information was analysed. The results show that the integration of BIM in the project execution planning ensures greater control over the model, thus preventing timeand cost-inefficiencies along the project development. Although traditional planning proves to be 20% shorter than 4D simulation, the latter is observed to be 40% more efficient regarding visual monitoring of time progress and also 40% more efficient in the data update process.

This paper reports on an investigation on vaulted ceilings aimed at seeking connections between t... more This paper reports on an investigation on vaulted ceilings aimed at seeking connections between the geometry of such architectonic elements and their structural behaviour. A search for the balance of forces acting through such elements is put forward, upholding on the Limit Analysis Theory. Graphically, the element's security limits are evaluated according to the forces' trajectory distance through the vault or dome shapes. A simulation of the application of this graphical method on three equally dimensioned square-based types of vaults is presented (namely barrel, groin and dominical vaults). The groin vault is the lightest (1.514 N/m 2) and that with the lowest Concavity Factor (1.14), while the dominical vault stands as the heaviest (2.244 N/m 2) and shows the highest Concavity Factor (2.07). On another note, the barrel type is only supported by its sides (4.610 N horizontal thrust applied on each one), the groin vault on its four corners (horizontal thrust 3.102 N, diagonally directed) and the dominical type on its four sides (1.524 N horizontal thrust on each). Despite stress values on the three vault types are low, a couple of points ought to be accounted for. The maximum stress on the groin vault is 0.03 N/mm 2 with a significant increase up to 0.34 N/mm 2 as the edges are approached. The maximum radial stress-transmitted to the supporting elements-on the dominical vault is 0.03 N/mm 2 , although a parallel-to-the-supports ring stress appears (whose intensity depends on proximity to vertical position as related to the supports) ranging up to 0.17 N/mm 2 , quite higher than the radial stress. Maximum work stress is not the defining value in order to guarantee stability for this element.
Este trabajo se comparo diferentes soluciones constructivas para la integracion de los edificios ... more Este trabajo se comparo diferentes soluciones constructivas para la integracion de los edificios rurales en su entorno, teniendo en cuenta los costos asociados. Los participantes de la encuesta comparan fotografias reales de edificios existentes con imagenes procesadas por ordenador. Los resultados de la encuesta fueron organizados sistematicamente para determinar objetivamente las preferencias. Se ha revelado que las nuevas fachadas rurales del edificio se pueden disenar para una mejor integracion visual con el coste adicional menor. El estudio muestra que solo un promedio de 7,35% de aumento de costos en las fachadas daria un 21,6% de mejora de la integracion visual. Este trabajo puede ayudar a los desarrolladores, arquitectos e ingenieros a mejorar la integracion visual de sus proyectos. El analisis de los costos asociados ha demostrado que una buena integracion de la construccion es beneficiosa y barata, teniendo en cuenta solo un 5% de costo adicional en general puede asegurar ...
