One of the language principles in pragmatic studies is the cooperative principle or Grice's cooperative maxims which divide the principles in question namely, 1) maxim of quantity, 2) maxim of quality, 3) maxim of relevance ( maxim of relevance), and 4) maxim of manner. This research was conducted to find out the application of Grice's cooperation maxims in speech events in the market. The population of this study are all traders and buyers who are transacting within the market scope. Whereas, Sampling was determined using random sampling technique or random sampling by taking as many as 10 to 15 conversational samples in trader and buyer transactions. In the modern world, people who have the ability to speak other languages beside mother language are no longer taboo. Learning the second language, probably will find some dynamics, including interesting things in the foreign language. Researcher's mother language is Bahasa, and Chinese language is another language that has been studied as the second language, found the interest in idioms. China as a country that has a variety of cultures and traditions and also socio-cultural conditions, has a distinctive culture of trust in the 12chinese zodiac animals. The existence of the 12 chinese zodiac animals in the proverbs in Mandarin and Indonesian, raises the idea to explore how the comparison of both in terms of socio-cultural elements contained in the meaning of 12 chinese zodiac animals proverbs. The purpose of this article is to compare the cultural viewpoints that form the idioms of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals. The result is the use of the twelve elements of this Chinese zodiac animals in the proverb represents the character represented in the element, the existence of the similarity of nature and circumstances possessed. However, not all the idioms of the twelve zodiac animals are related to the social and cultural background of their lives.
