Because business practices have the propensity to generate both positive and negative outcomes, a careful review of the social compromises that may underlie gac is necessary. It is important to assert that, “the gac ethic is a cosmopolitan perspective that presupposes civic universalism” (Rivera 2012). I will identify the key components of the proposed critical business ethics education and will indicate how these differ from standard business ethics education. I will also demonstrate how the proposed form of business ethics education is tied to gac. It is the purpose of this article to consider how business ethics educators and curricula should incorporate proactive approaches to economic justice and strive to avoid the reactive nature of past business ethics literature, the primary goal of which has been to repair unethical business behavior.

Three of these historical phases are considered in this document. The first two, Stoic cosmopolitanism (SC) and Kantian cosmopolitanism (KC) are primarily philosophical. The third, global age cosmopolitanism (GAC), is primarily socioeconomic and political, although it includes philosophical elements. Throughout this paper, the theoretical principles concerned with GAC will be discussed, however, it is important to first review its historical roots in SC and KC. The analysis also considers the relation of GAC to business ethics practice and business ethics education. Cosmopolitanism in the global age is different from the Stoic and Kantian cosmopolitanisms that have been endorsed by history. Although early business ethics literature and practice implied a lax or limited cosmopolitanism, today they must account for global institutions and rules that did not exist even 50 years ago, but which now regulate the international economy.

A large number of professionals were trained in different fields. This at the same time created better opportunities and higher quality for the national education system at all levels due to academic mobility at all levels. To think about the term ‘revolution’ in Cuba, one must believe in a movement of ideas that promote progress. However, most of us in the Western world come to believe that progress has an equivalency of economic gain.

Given that the fact of pluralism is among the salient features of these circumstances, how does contemporary thinking on cosmopolitanism suggest that we resolve the ethical dilemmas that cultural differences presents? As early as 308bc the Stoics taught on the use of reason and autonomy in the individual. Self control was believed to be a method to achieve virtue, wisdom, and unbiased character. The Stoics believed in the development of clear judgment through logic and experience.

However, the Aztec Empire can be traced back to 1428, when they consumed octli, now commonly known as pulque, an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of the maguey cactus. Back in the period of Mesoamerica, it was exclusively for certain classes of people. However, the popularity of this drink has had a significant decline. It is estimated that pulque only represents 10 percent of all alcohol consumption in Mexico today. Some other traditional drinks used during pre-Columbian America were balché, used by the Mayans; tepache, fermented pineapple; and tejuino, which was maize based. Furthermore, indigenous people for centuries have used alcohol for religious purposes. Tarahumaras in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua use tesguino, a harsh beer-tasting drink, for highly spiritual rituals. The use of this drink allows the individual to be liberated from the “large souls” of the body, and the inebriation process allows for the “little souls” to flourish, giving way to childish and joyous behavior.
