In the context of public sector innovation, the questions posed, often concern the factors that lead public organisations to innovate. In this work, the two approaches will be applied to the case of innovation in the Coast Guard Command during the Syrian humanitarian crisis, examining which approach explains the adoption of strategic planning in times of crisis better.

At least that is what we would expect from them. In this work, I am examining whether expert knowledge played a role in shaping the European Union ́s economic policy within the framework of the Turkey – European Union Customs Union.

A European settler community established a state on a foreign territory with the help of other states. This event in history has received a great deal of attention in both the academic and the public sphere. This work is looking at this establishment process again, but from a different angle. It is argued that the Jewish settlers founded their state, because of the different racialisation of Arabs and Jews by the British, which led them to favour the Jews over the Arabs.

This work examines the treaty in its historic context and difficulties.

Many states have achieved considerable success with the application of democracy and were able to effectively enhance the well-being of their people. With this I mind (and maybe also other considerations), democratic states, especially the United States of America, promote their democratic understanding in the world and try to influence people´s perception of democracy. However, I think this is in direct conflict with the core democratic principles of public sovereignty and freedom. This work takes a closer look at the promotion of democracy and whether it contradicts the normative underpinnings of that very system.

Due to recent developments in the Middle East and the EU’s involvement there, Turkey’s political significance has increased severely, as its geographical position and economic and military capabilities have made Turkey a central actor within the region. However, this paper does not seek to clarify Turkey’s exact role within the current situation in the Middle East, but rather utilises the developments to gain a clearer picture of the current status of how close Turkish foreign policy has come to the EU-style outputs of decision-making. In the light of this work, we will solely focus on the outcomes of the decision-making process, in order to limit the scope of application and to research if EU values truly show themselves as the result of decision-making.

Actions in politics influence the society in more ways than they used to. This means that politicians and other decision-makers on the political stage have more options to achieve their political goals. One important tool is the economic treaty and in this case free trade zones.
