Therefore, they should be fostered systematically. The environment and the organisational culture within the enterprise should encourage the individuals as well as groups to create, express and de- velop the ideas into innovative products and services that yield an additional value. Providing support to the desired organisational culture in project oriented company, such as construction contracting company, is a challenging task due to constantly changing working groups and the environment. The paper identi- fies the challenges and drivers of innovation in project oriented companies and discusses measures to be taken in order to facilitate technological and organisational innovations by using literature survey. Select- ed case studies of tehnological and organisational construction innovations are presented and analysed.

As a consequence, the performance of the network is decreasing. Road managers have to ensure that the system provides the required service. Decisions related to maintenance, repair, rehabilitation or demolition of various facilities have to be taken by the network managers. They should be based on data regarding the existing condition, risk of the use, life cycle costs, and age. As road infrastructure is complex; the optimal choice of planned interventions is a delicate task often left to the road managers' subjective judgment. The present research aims at development of a multiple criteria decision support system to a) determine the priority ranking of facility maintenance, repair and rehabilitation projects, and to b) to support the choice between rehabilitation and demolition and replacement option for a single facility. The proposed decision support system takes into the account the budget constraint option, and whole life cycle costs of a single facility subjected to various scenarios. Results are presented for a case study of a group of 27 overpasses on a selected a highway section. The results show the selection of criteria employed in the decision process are crucial in obtaining the targeted goals. The selected criteria should therefore reflect all aspect of sustainable development, namely, social, environmental and economic conditions related to the assets. The calculated life cycle costs of a single facility indicate that when the facility is a reasonably good shape, rehabilitation is strongly preferred to its demolition and replacement with a new one .
