ZusammenfassungDie folgende Einleitung konturiert zunächst die Begriffe, die leitend für die rahm... more ZusammenfassungDie folgende Einleitung konturiert zunächst die Begriffe, die leitend für die rahmende Thematik des Heftes sind: religiöse Autorschaft und Selbstlegitimation. Es zeigt sich, dass, trotz eines chronologisch zunehmenden Ablösungsprozesses, göttlich inspirierte Autorschaft als Konzept erhalten bleibt, aber der Aushandlung bedarf. Anhand dreier Beispiele aus verschiedenen Zeiteinschnitten (1200 – 1500 – 1800) klärt der einleitende Beitrag, welche Bedingungen und Ausprägungen religiöse Autorschaft haben kann.AbstractThe following introduction first of all outlines the concepts which are guiding for the framing topic of the booklet: religious authorship and self-legitimation of the author as such. In 16 th-century vernacular literature, authorship is not yet as clearly defined as in later cent... more In 16 th-century vernacular literature, authorship is not yet as clearly defined as in later centuries. It is still characterised by the presence of degrees of authorship and makes use of the various concepts of anonymity. Authority and the fictional status of a work are discussed whenever instances of authorship are mentioned in the text. This practice, of course, comes with consequences for the text itself. This chapter will focus on one outstanding example of dealing with authorship: the Historia von D. Johann Fausten (1587). Though it is a work of imaginative literature, it integrates factual sources with literary invention. The text does not explicitly discuss the circumstance that its parts have been taken from somewhere else and transformed into something else. It does, however, try to emphasise its origin with a single author, namely the protagonist himself.

Jörg Wickram’s novel Der Goldtfaden deals with courtly communication in the form of an unusual co... more Jörg Wickram’s novel Der Goldtfaden deals with courtly communication in the form of an unusual constellation of its participants. It is a complex system of norms that is binding for all members of the court and becomes problematic if an outsider joins the act. Communication situations are presented in a variety of media, some of which succeed through fortunate coincidence, while others fail due to existing conventions and their disregard. Above all, the figure of the fool plays an essential role, which is constitutive for the entire text.
