The aim of the study was to analyze the differences in degree of self-determination between stude... more The aim of the study was to analyze the differences in degree of self-determination between students with and without disabilities and to relate these differences to grade point average and gender in both groups. Students in both groups were equalized in pairs by age, gender and school program (n = 122; 61 pairs). Results indicate that students with disabilities have a lower level of self-determination than their peers without disabilities. With regards to gender, girls with disabilities have the lowest level of self-determination. An analysis of differences in self-determination by grade point average (GPA) showed that students with and without disabilities who had high GPAs have higher levels of self-determination than students with low GPAs. Results of this study reveal important fields of intervention, especially for students with disabilities.

Th e purpose of the study was to analyse diff erences in speech, language and communication skill... more Th e purpose of the study was to analyse diff erences in speech, language and communication skills between students with mild intellectual disabilities using a narrative text written in easy-to-read text (experimental group), and students with mild intellectual disabilities using a book containing the same content but written in ordinary text (control group). Th e results indicate that students with mild intellectual disabilities who listen to the easy-to-read text exhibit superior communication skills in individual conversations with the teacher. Signifi cant diff erences occur in all three measured variables. Th e research is important contribution in understanding of benefi ts of easy-to-read texts.

V prispevku je predstavljen pomen uporabe dobrih praks za spodbujanje socialno-emocionalnega razv... more V prispevku je predstavljen pomen uporabe dobrih praks za spodbujanje socialno-emocionalnega razvoja pri otrocih starosti od enega do treh let. Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti, kakšna je ocena strokovnih delavcev glede pomembnosti socialno-emocionalnega področja v primerjavi z drugimi področji razvoja (npr. estetski razvoj, moralno-etični razvoj, kognitivni razvoj, motorika), kakšna je ocena pomembnosti področja družba v primerjavi z drugimi področji dejavnosti v kurikulumu (umetnost, naravoslovje, jezik, gibanje, matematika) ter ali pri uporabi dobrih praks za to področje obstajajo razlike med homogenimi in heterogenimi skupinami. Rezultati kažejo, da strokovni delavci, ki delajo z otroki v prvem starostnem obdobju, socialno-emocionalno področje uvrščajo med najpomembnejša področja razvoja. Rezultati kažejo tudi, da se v homogenih skupinah dobre prakse za otrokov socialno-emocionalni razvoj uporabljajo pogosteje kot v heterogenih skupinah prvega starostnega obdobja ter da strokovni delavci najpogosteje uporabljajo tiste prakse, ki so del vsakodnevnih interakcij, manj pogosto pa uporabljajo prakse, za katere je potrebno vsaj delno načrtovanje ali poznavanje specifičnih strategij. Povzetek Zbornik dobrih praks z naslovom Kako razvijati družinsko pismenost v predšolskem obdobju... more Povzetek Zbornik dobrih praks z naslovom Kako razvijati družinsko pismenost v predšolskem obdobju je nastal v okviru projekta (Univerza v Mariboru, Filozofska fakulteta), ki sta ga izvajali Pedagoška fakulteta in Filozofska fakulteta Univerze v Mariboru med letoma 2016 in 2017. V zborniku predstavljamo dobre prakse, ki so se izvajale v vrtcih, vključenih v projekt, ter tudi nekaj primerov iz drugih vrtcev. Predstavljene dobre prakse vključujejo vodene dejavnosti za otroke obeh starostnih obdobij ter njihove starše. V večini primerov gre za integracijo različnih kurikularnih področij. Poudarek je na primerih, ki so pri otrocih in starših povečali zanimanje za uporabo slikanic, za spodbujanje branja, poslušanja, pripovedovanja ter vključujejo različne priredbe in dramatizacije. Iz primerov dobrih praks je mogoče razbrati, na kakšen način razvijati družinsko pismenost in voditi dejavnosti, ki pripomorejo k spoznavanju novih pojmov, razvoju jezika, predopismenjevalnih veščin in bralne pismenosti v predšolskem in zgodnjem šolskem obdobju. Zbornik je namenjen vsem pedagoškim delavcem v vrtcih in prvem triletju osnovne šole ter staršem, ki imajo otroke v tem razvojnem obdobju. V poglavju je predstavljeno kritično branje kot eden od gradnikov bralne pismenosti, ki smo ga pr... more V poglavju je predstavljeno kritično branje kot eden od gradnikov bralne pismenosti, ki smo ga predstavili za predšolsko obdobje, za 1., 2. in 3. VIO osnovne šole ter za srednjo šolo. Kritično branje razumemo kot veščino uporabe različnih strategij za odkrivanje informacij in idej v besedilu, kamor sodita vrednotenje in vzpostavljanje kritičnega odnosa do prebranega skozi kritično razmišljanje. Analiza ciljev učnih načrtov za slovenski jezik po celotni vertikali je pokazala, da se cilji, povezani s kritičnim branjem, pojavljajo v različnih sklopih, vendar je eksplicitna raba termina kritično branje zelo redka. Operativnih ciljev, ki vključujejo ta gradnik, je malo. Ugotavljamo, da bi v učnem načrtu za slovenščino v osnovni šoli bilo smiselno dati več poudarka na cilje, vezane na razvoj kritičnega branja in kritičnega razmišljanja v 1., 2. in 3. Razvijanje družinske pismenosti V objemu besed: prirocnik za starse je nastal v okviru istoimensk... more Razvijanje družinske pismenosti V objemu besed: prirocnik za starse je nastal v okviru istoimenskega raziskovalno-razvojnega projekta, ki ga je financiralo Ministrstvo za kulturo RS (od oktobra 2016 do novembra 2017). Gre za projekt na podrocju spodbujanja družinskega branja oz. družinske pismenosti, ki je del bralne pismenosti (ta pa je nujni pogoj za delovanje cloveka v družbi) in vkljucuje medgeneracijsko branje na vseh podrocjih dejavnosti v vrtcu (jezik, umetnost, družba, narava, matematika, gibanje) ter na vseh podrocjih otrokovega razvoja (kognitivnem, socialnem, custvenem, estetskem, moralno-eticnem in motivacijskem). Najprej je bila izdana monografija V objemu besed, na podlagi katere smo pripravili strokovni prirocnik za starse. V prirocniku na poljuden nacin prispevamo k dvigu ozavescenosti o pomenu branja kot vseživljenjskega procesa. The values of undergraduate students who study early childhood education are very important for professional development and practice. The purpose of this study is to determine, if their values change during their study programme; which values are more important to the students; and what are the differences in the students’ values in terms of the type of study (full time/part time), years of study, age, work experience and work status. Results indicate that employed students have higher scores on other-centred values than unemployed students, older students express more others-centred values than younger students, while in self-centred values there are no age differences. The presented scientific research includes various themes in the field of pedagogy, didactics, special didactics and psychology. The results of the research reveal important conclusions regarding relationships between children and preschool teachers, children’s relationships with peers, important practices for social-emotional learning, problems that occur in students’ mathematics knowledge and the possibilities of promoting family literacy. The purpose of this study is to analyse which ecological conditions (professional background and ... more The purpose of this study is to analyse which ecological conditions (professional background and support from the environment) and interpersonal skills (values, attitudes and emotional competences) predict ECE teacher competences in working with immigrant children. The results of the hierarchical regression analysis revealed that interpersonal skills are stronger predictors of teachers' competences than ecological conditions. The results of network analysis indicate specific in-depth relations among teachers' competences and the analysed variables. The study is important as it combines ecological conditions as contextual factors and interpersonal skills to better understand how to support ECE teachers in a multicultural environment.

The purpose of the study was to determine on which domain teachers focus most during additional p... more The purpose of the study was to determine on which domain teachers focus most during additional professional support for children with special needs and what differences there are among the groups. A total of 1863 professionals were included in the study, seven different groups of professionals were compared regarding their work on learning, motivational and social-emotional domain. Results reveal that support for students with special needs is mainly focused on the learning domain, moderately on the motivational domain and little on the social-emotional domain, with significant differences between professionals. In the social-emotional domain significant decreases occur among subject teachers, professionals in other job positions and principals.

Oddelek za temeljne pedagoške predmete, Pedagoška fakulteta, Univerza v Mariboru 2 Oddelek za psi... more Oddelek za temeljne pedagoške predmete, Pedagoška fakulteta, Univerza v Mariboru 2 Oddelek za psihologijo, Filozofska fakulteta, Univerza v Mariboru Povzetek: Namen raziskave je bil preveriti napovedno vrednost nekaterih značilnosti delovnega mesta osnovnošolskih učiteljev za doživljanje poklicnega stresa in izgorelosti. Značilnosti delovnega mesta so bile v raziskavi opredeljene kot zahteve in viri, ki smo jih nadalje delile na splošne in na specifične, vezane na delo z učenci s posebnimi potrebami. Preverjale smo, ali spremenljivke, povezane z delom z učenci s posebnimi potrebami, pojasnijo dodaten delež variance v doživljanju stresa in izgorelosti, ki ga ni mogoče pojasniti s splošnimi značilnostmi delovnega mesta. V raziskavi so sodelovali osnovnošolski učitelji iz vseh dvanajstih regij v Sloveniji; število sodelujočih variira od 439 do 886. Rezultati kažejo, da specifične značilnosti delovnega mesta samostojno napovedujejo pomemben del variance stresa, emocionalne izčrpanosti in depersonalizacije. Splošne delovne obremenitve in specifična delovna obremenjenost z učenci s posebnimi potrebami predstavljata najbolj stabilna napovednika vseh treh proučevanih kriterijev. Na osnovi ugotovitev predlagamo tudi nekatere ukrepe za zmanjšanje stopnje doživljanja stresa ter za učinkovitejše spoprijemanje z njim.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of rumination and reflection in teachers... more The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of rumination and reflection in teachers' classroom stress and burnout, thereby assessing their predictive value per se and their role as moderators between teacher reported job characteristics and stress and burnout. 439 elementary school teachers participated in the study. Dispositional characteristics explained additional variance in teachers' stress and burnout beyond job characteristics. Rumination was a significant predictor of both stress and burnout, whereas reflection was not. However, reflection moderated the relation between job characteristics and stress. These results highlight the importance of simultaneously investigating environmental and dispositional characteristics of teachers' strain.

Povzetek Zbornik dobrih praks z naslovom Kako razvijati družinsko pismenost v predšolskem obdobju... more Povzetek Zbornik dobrih praks z naslovom Kako razvijati družinsko pismenost v predšolskem obdobju je nastal v okviru projekta (Univerza v Mariboru, Filozofska fakulteta), ki sta ga izvajali Pedagoška fakulteta in Filozofska fakulteta Univerze v Mariboru med letoma 2016 in 2017. V zborniku predstavljamo dobre prakse, ki so se izvajale v vrtcih, vključenih v projekt, ter tudi nekaj primerov iz drugih vrtcev. Predstavljene dobre prakse vključujejo vodene dejavnosti za otroke obeh starostnih obdobij ter njihove starše. V večini primerov gre za integracijo različnih kurikularnih področij. The presented scientific research includes various themes in the field of pedagogy, didactics, special didactics and psychology. The results of the research reveal important conclusions regarding relationships between children and preschool teachers, children’s relationships with peers, important practices for social-emotional learning, problems that occur in students’ mathematics knowledge and the possibilities of promoting family literacy. The purpose of this study is to analyse which ecological conditions (professional background and ... more The purpose of this study is to analyse which ecological conditions (professional background and support from the environment) and interpersonal skills (values, attitudes and emotional competences) predict ECE teacher competences in working with immigrant children. The results of the hierarchical regression analysis revealed that interpersonal skills are stronger predictors of teachers' competences than ecological conditions. The results of network analysis indicate specific in-depth relations among teachers' competences and the analysed variables. The study is important as it combines ecological conditions as contextual factors and interpersonal skills to better understand how to support ECE teachers in a multicultural environment.

The purpose of the study was to determine on which domain teachers focus most during additional p... more The purpose of the study was to determine on which domain teachers focus most during additional professional support for children with special needs and what differences there are among the groups. A total of 1863 professionals were included in the study, seven different groups of professionals were compared regarding their work on learning, motivational and social-emotional domain. Results reveal that support for students with special needs is mainly focused on the learning domain, moderately on the motivational domain and little on the social-emotional domain, with significant differences between professionals. In the social-emotional domain significant decreases occur among subject teachers, professionals in other job positions and principals.

Oddelek za temeljne pedagoške predmete, Pedagoška fakulteta, Univerza v Mariboru 2 Oddelek za psi... more Oddelek za temeljne pedagoške predmete, Pedagoška fakulteta, Univerza v Mariboru 2 Oddelek za psihologijo, Filozofska fakulteta, Univerza v Mariboru Povzetek: Namen raziskave je bil preveriti napovedno vrednost nekaterih značilnosti delovnega mesta osnovnošolskih učiteljev za doživljanje poklicnega stresa in izgorelosti. Značilnosti delovnega mesta so bile v raziskavi opredeljene kot zahteve in viri, ki smo jih nadalje delile na splošne in na specifične, vezane na delo z učenci s posebnimi potrebami. Preverjale smo, ali spremenljivke, povezane z delom z učenci s posebnimi potrebami, pojasnijo dodaten delež variance v doživljanju stresa in izgorelosti, ki ga ni mogoče pojasniti s splošnimi značilnostmi delovnega mesta. V raziskavi so sodelovali osnovnošolski učitelji iz vseh dvanajstih regij v Sloveniji; število sodelujočih variira od 439 do 886. Rezultati kažejo, da specifične značilnosti delovnega mesta samostojno napovedujejo pomemben del variance stresa, emocionalne izčrpanosti in depersonalizacije. Splošne delovne obremenitve in specifična delovna obremenjenost z učenci s posebnimi potrebami predstavljata najbolj stabilna napovednika vseh treh proučevanih kriterijev. Na osnovi ugotovitev predlagamo tudi nekatere ukrepe za zmanjšanje stopnje doživljanja stresa ter za učinkovitejše spoprijemanje z njim.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of rumination and reflection in teachers... more The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of rumination and reflection in teachers' classroom stress and burnout, thereby assessing their predictive value per se and their role as moderators between teacher reported job characteristics and stress and burnout. 439 elementary school teachers participated in the study. Dispositional characteristics explained additional variance in teachers' stress and burnout beyond job characteristics. Rumination was a significant predictor of both stress and burnout, whereas reflection was not. However, reflection moderated the relation between job characteristics and stress. These results highlight the importance of simultaneously investigating environmental and dispositional characteristics of teachers' strain.
