The study analyzes the acoustic values of the voiced labiodental fricative consonant [v] realizations in two- and three-component clusters and the degree of its assimilation. The results show that the acoustic identification of [v] depends on the pattern of the previous consonant. The consonant [v] after sibilants is realized by variants which are acoustically closer to [f], and in some cases complete assimilation is reached, ie [v]> [f], while in most cases it retain its voice after stop consonants [v].

The spectral values of the consonants ш, ж, ч and Џ in the Bulgarian language and ş, j, č and ğ in the Romanian language are analyzed. Bulgarian consonants according to their place of articulation are considered to be postalveolar (palato-alveolar) consonants ʃ, ʒ, t ͡ ʃ and d ͡ ʒ, and the Romanian consonants are determined to be prepalatals (alveolo-palatal) ɕ, ʑ, t ͡ ɕ and d. The changed place of articulation affects the acoustic characteristics of the Romanian consonants, which are defined by Bulgarians to be softer than the Bulgarian consonants. In the spectrograms combinations of palato-alveolar / alveolo-palatal consonants + vocals are outlined characteristics that coincide with the peculiarities of the soft consonant + vocal combinations in the Bulgarian language.

BREAD IN BULGARIAN AND ROMANIAN PHRASEOLOGY The study examines idioms with a component of "bread" in the Bulgarian and Romanian languages, which presents the linguistic picture of the world of Bulgarians and Romanians. The conclusions are that for Bulgarians and Romanians bread is associated not only with food but also with the opportunity to work and earn an income. In both languages, idioms has preserved the positive attitude of Bulgarians and Romanians towards bread.

The conclusion reached as a result of the comparative analysis is that the texts of the bills have quite a lot in common rather than having differences in terms of both the main ideological positions and the weak points that prevented the adoption of such a law over the years. In addition to this, the conclusions impose the idea that a qualitatively new approach is needed in the drafting of the normative act – the law on the Bulgarian language should regulate a unified state language policy to protect the language as the basis of national identity and thus to encourage the development of education, science and culture in the Republic of Bulgaria.

Six acoustic parameters follow the CVC syllable structure. The results show that there is a notable difference in the consonant duration and the F 2 transition duration between the Eastern and Western types of articulation. The paper confirms that consonant duration, F 2 onset, F 2 offset and F 2 transition duration are informative enough to differentiate between Eastern and Western types of soft consonants on the one hand, and soft consonants and non-palatalized consonants on the other hand.

The introduction deals with the definition of the object, goals, tasks and methods of the research. The object of this sociolinguistic work is the Bulgarian language situation in the endmost north-western region of Bulgaria, taking into account the results of Vlach influence. This problem is crucial and is being reviewed by Bulgarian linguistics for the first time.
The idiolect material was gathered from five villages in the Municipality of Bregovo (Брегово) – Baley, Bregovo, Vrav, Deleyna and Kosovo. The sociolinguistic methods were the most appropriate to follow, because the local residents are bilingual, i.e. in an unofficial environment they use formations of more than one language (in this particular case – Bulgarian language and Vlach dialect). The term "Vlach dialect" refers to the non-Bulgarian colloquial code which bilinguals use in the sphere of everyday life. Its base could be classified as a transitional type of muntenian subdialect (kind of Romanian dialect) whose features have developed on Bulgarian territory and have been strongly influenced by the Bulgarian language.
