We examined their accountability and disclosure practices on sustainable development goals (SDGs) using the drivers, pressures, state, welfare, and response accounting framework. Based on their 2019 sustainability reports, just 7% of the companies assessed disclosed on SDG14. However, 51% of these companies can be considered as aware, albeit to varying degrees, of the pressures their industries place on the oceans, 44% deploy mitigating activities, and 26% are aware and actively lead business responses to ocean challenges. Although we have seen just early responses in addressing ocean challenges, companies’ awareness and activation must converge to achieve ocean sustainability and move businesses in...

All of this serves in the analysis for the correct data necessary for the determination of values such as the economic and financial flows to discount, the timeframe of analysis and the discount rate. Without a correct contextualisation, it is not possible to reach a correct measurement of the company value in accordance with the studies on the “theory of value”. After observing that “contextualisation” has not been widely studied till now for the theory of value, the present work analyses the incidence on the measurement of the company value, showing with an empirical case the different results that may be reached on the basis of the contextualisation of data. Hence, a ...

The paper delves into this industry, revealing its characteristics, models, processes and mechanisms. It relies on the assumption that SBs differ in the ways they pursue social innovation and social change. We suggest that the basic ingredients across which SBs vary can be grouped into two main groups: the ‘organisational set’ – composed of three dimensions: a cause-driven vision, a scalable innovation and economic robustness; and the ‘environmental set’ – concerned with those features that affect an SB’s success but that are hardly controllable by organisations directly. VP is included in this set in that it affects SBs’ growth capacity

These concepts go beyond the traditional nonprofit sector organizations because they also embrace for-profit legal forms that have a social mission. This blend of business and nonprofit features has also been discussed under the term hybrid organizations (Billis,
