Data were collected in a four year old plantation on clay soil in the town of Butiá, Rio Grande do Sul. A regression equation (lnY = a + b* lnX), was used to estimate biomass production whose

Pizzato Industries Inc., located in General Carneiro, PR. Sampling units of different sizes were evaluated to estimate arboreal and arbustive vegetation biomass (subwood), dead biomass (accumulated litter) and underground biomass (roots). Total biomass average production (above and below the soil) was

The selected Australian provenances were Lake George, Bodalla and Batemans Bay. A large variation was found in

The provenance was established in soils of low fertility, with high acidity, at Fazenda Menezes, District of Capão Comprido, County of Butiá/RS. Nine trees were selected to form a sample. The destructive sampling comprised the individualization of

The work was carried out in a 9-year-old stand of Eucalyptus grandis on a sandy site with low fertility near the village of Alegrete in the federal state of Rio Grande

Objective: To compare and analyze the immediate outcomes of using the left internal thoracic artery in among people aged <70 years and ≥70 years. Methods: 131 patients were analyzed, of whom 48 (39.98%) were aged ≥70 years

Objective: To assess the immediate results for elderly patients undergoing heart surgery. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of 101 patients aged ≥70 years, undergoing heart surgery at the Álvaro Alvim Teaching Hospital between 2004 and 2008, analyzing the immediate results, whose ages varied between 70 and 85 years, with 32 (33.6%) female and 69 (66.4%) male. The most common symptoms were: angina in 75 patients (74.2%) and syncope in 8 (7.9%). The patients were grouped as Class I − 59 (58.4%); Class II − 22 (21.8%); Class III − 15 (14.8%); and Class IV − 5 (4.9%) of NYHA, with 55 (54.4%) of them being hypertensive; 42 (41.6%) smokers and 21 (20.8%) diabetics. A total of 73 (72.3%) myocardial revascularizations were performed, and 12 (11.9%) aortic valve replacements. The main cardiovascular complications were: superventricular arrhythmia n=16 (15.8%) a...

of communication, mainly due to its efficiency
and low cost. In order to explore potential in-
formations in emailing, various data mining tech-
niques have been applied on email data. Cluster-
ing emails into smaller groups according to their
inherent similarity, facilitates discovering discrim-
inant informations in order to analyze the emails
distributions. In this work, we explore some ideas
of data mining using a variation of K-means clus-
tering approach on emails. We use a dataset of
19,924 emails to evaluate our performance. A
study about PCA approach for this task is also pre-
sented, in order to reduce the dimensionality of the
feature vectors.

The challenge is to build a model that are able to predict the correct class of a given image, with low level of error. In this work, we explore some ideas of models to deal with this task. These models are based on variations of two main methods: Logistic Regression and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). With the best parame- ters, our 2-layer Neural Network achieve ≈63.0% accuracy on test set.
