Over the years a variation of tests has been conducted within the various international surveys, ... more Over the years a variation of tests has been conducted within the various international surveys, as ESS, EVS and ISSP. Both at the international and national level tests regarding the wording of the questions and the response categories have been conducted. This study provides on overview of these language tests. Very often multiple tests are conducted on the same main question (versions A, B, etc), which are all included. More information on these variables is provided in the word document "Methodological data - Test variables_version 4".

The survey focuses on work values, work-life balance, worker flexibility and job search. Issues such as satisfaction at work, occupational commitment, relations at workplace, (temporary) unemployment, discrimination at work and personal economic situation are also covered. This pilot has been realized in Switzerland, Czech Republic, South-Korea, Venezuela, Germany and Israel with the scope to pretest and finalize the questionnaire for the main survey in 2015. In Switzerland, the pilot has surveyed several hundred residents of the German speaking part of Switzerland (several people from Lichtenstein were included too), between the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014 through web and paper questionnaires. The survey focuses on social resources and support, contact frequency with family and friends and diversity and hierarchy of personal network. Issues such as access and mobilization of social relations, perception and justification of social inequalities, perceived integration, norms of obligation and reciprocity and social strain are also covered. This pilot has been realized in Switzerland, Germany, China, Venezuela, Taiwan, Turkey and the Unites States of America with the scope to pretest and finalize the questionnaire for the main survey in 2017. In Switzerland, the pilot has surveyed just over a thousand residents, between the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016 through a paper questionnaire. It integrates several international repeated surveys, with Swiss data going back as far as 1987. In practice, a minimum of 1,200 people answer a 1-hour face-to-face interview, with the survey being conducted every two years. The data offer valuable information about attitudes and behaviours of the resident population of Switzerland, with strong analytical power for sociological research. The questionnaire is structured in five parts: (1+2) At the heart of MOSAiCH stands the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP). This longstanding survey includes today 45 countries all over the world. As the fieldwork of MOSAiCH takes place every two years, two modules of the ISSP are included in each survey. The thematic focus of the 2020 edition lies on "Environment IV", the current module of the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) which is repeated for the 4th time. This international part is supplemented by selected socio-demographic questions, as well as a module composed of Switzerland specific questions and a COVID-19 supplement. The questions of this Swiss part are determined by means of a public call and either expand the ISSP module thematically or measure other dimensions that are of special interest to Switzerland.

MOSAiCH stands for "Measurement and Observation of Social Attitudes in Switzerland" and... more MOSAiCH stands for "Measurement and Observation of Social Attitudes in Switzerland" and is a survey conducted under this name since 2005. It integrates several international repeated surveys, with Swiss data going back as far as 1987. In practice, a minimum of 1,200 people answer a 1-hour face-to-face interview, with the survey being conducted every two years. The data offer valuable information about attitudes and behaviours of the resident population of Switzerland, with strong analytical power for sociological research. The questionnaire is structured in five parts: (1+2) At the heart of MOSAiCH stands the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP). This longstanding survey includes today 45 countries all over the world. As the fieldwork of MOSAiCH takes place every two years, two modules of the ISSP are included in each survey. The ESS is a study introduced in 2002 and replicated every two years. This is the fifth edition of the study in Switzerland. The ESS provides indicators on the practices and representations of the Swiss population, making it possible to compare them with European countries and to observe the evolution over time. The 2010 edition focuses on the image of police and justice as well as the relationship between work and family.
