The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of self-focused attention, awareness and ... more The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of self-focused attention, awareness and use of social media on the social well-being of library and information science postgraduate students in universities in Nigeria. The study employed a survey research design of the correlational type. The study population comprised 919 LIS postgraduate students from 16 universities offering library and information science programmes at the postgraduate level. A total enumeration technique was used to cover all the 919 postgraduate students, 742 respondents filled and returned the questionnaire, given a response rate of 81%. The study established that self-focused, awareness and use of social media had a joint effect on the social well-being of the respondents. Also, there was a significant joint effect of self-focused attention, awareness and use of social media on the social well-being of the respondents. Purpose: The study was carried out to examine work-family conflict, job satisfaction and job perf... more Purpose: The study was carried out to examine work-family conflict, job satisfaction and job performance of female librarians in nine selected federal academic libraries in South-West, Nigeria. Design/Method/ Approach: Descriptive survey design using simple random sampling was adopted for the study. The institutions covered include the University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Federal University of Technology, (FUTA), Yaba College of Technology, Federal University, Oye, Ekiti, Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji and Federal Polytechnic, Ede. Ninety-three questionnaires were distributed to female librarians but sixty-seven (67) questionnaires were returned showing a response rate of 72%. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistical tools. Hypotheses formulated in the study were tested using Pearson Product Moment Coefficient and Regression analysis at 0.05 level of significance. Findings: Results showed...
This chapter critically assess digital library functions and services in Nigeria academic librari... more This chapter critically assess digital library functions and services in Nigeria academic libraries. It highlighted the roles of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) that brought about digital libraries. It is a collection of digital contents that is housed electronically and made available to users. The advantages of digital library were also discussed such as improved access, improved information preservation, it improved information sharing, it enhances library functions and services. Nigerian academic libraries has benefited from the enormous benefits of digital library. The chapter stressed that effort should be improved consortium building so as to improve the services Nigerian libraries render to their patrons. The chapter concludes that Digital library has come a long way in Nigeria, and 21st century libraries cannot afford to render services to users without digital contents added to the prints resources. Therefore, Nigeria libraries and information centres must cooperate in a formal consortia building; this will go a long way to reduce the burden of all participating libraries.

This paper examines preservation of indigenous knowledge as a critical resource for the dissemina... more This paper examines preservation of indigenous knowledge as a critical resource for the dissemination of information about Africa through mass media technology. Goge Africa is a Nigerian tourism and cultural television programme which uses media technology to preserve and showcase African heritage to the rest of the world. The reason for studying Goge is that it is currently the only outfit functioning as both a heritage institution and a privately owned fashion, music, and tourism company. It is based on content analysis of primary and secondary data. The primary data was obtained from four in-depth interviews conducted between the researchers and the brand manager and representative of Goge Africa as well as a face-to-face interview with the developers and hosts of Goge Africa, Isaac and Nneka Moses. Secondary data was obtained from relevant documents through an electronic search of databases. The findings reveal the innovative way the outfit has tried to preserve its heritage mat...
