It is integrated with cloud computing technology, Internet of Things, and high-performance computing. Through cloud manufacturing, manufacturing resources (such as manufacturing software tools, manufacturing equipment, and manufacturing capabilities) are “virtualized” and offered as consumable in the same way as electricity, gas, and water. The manufacturing resources are provided to users as services over the Internet (cloud) in a pay-as-you-go manner. This paper presents a brief introduction to cloud manufacturing.

This review assessed different techniques of drying food and optimization of drying parameters to obtain good and acceptable quality food products. Among the useful processes used in preserving food products reviewed is minimal processing, dehydration or drying. The authors explored the available literature from journals, textbooks and search engines to develop this review paper. Food dehydration or drying is used to reduce losses and improving food commercial value. The use of artificial dryers has been found to reduce drying time when compared with natural drying method although at higher consumption level. Upon enzymatic hydrolysis, preferable to other means of hydrolysis like fermentation or physico-chemical methods, beneficial bioactive peptides are generated. The use of whey protein in diverse sectors of the food manufacturing industry does not stifle the production of its novel multiple products such as whey peptides, reported to confer multifarious biological activities based on wide ranges of research and in-depth investigations. The present review considers an overview of whey peptide production, and their popularly reported bioactivities. Some precautions to be taken amongst other recommendations were also discussed.

Food fraud is the deliberate alteration of food. It is widely accepted in the food industry as illegal deception for economic gain using food. The most common types of food fraud include deliberate substitution, misrepresentation or mislabeling, adulteration, stolen goods, tampering, diversion, smuggling, and concealment. The Internet of things (IoT) is essentially making “dumb” things “smart” by connecting them to each other and to the Internet. Farmers are turning to IoT solutions to increase efficiencies and yields and reduce loss and waste. In an agricultural context, IoT refers to the use of sensors, cameras, and other devices to turn every element and action involved in farming into data. IoT is poised to push the future of agriculture to the next level. In this paper, we will explore various applications of IoT in agriculture and examine their benefits and challenges.

Although great advances have been made on large-scale manufacturing of vaccines and antiviral-bas... more Although great advances have been made on large-scale manufacturing of vaccines and antiviral-based drugs, viruses persist as the major cause of human diseases nowadays. The recent pandemic of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) mounts a lot of stress on the healthcare sector and the scientific society to search continuously for novel components with antiviral possibility. Herein, we narrated the different tactics of using biopeptides as antiviral molecules that could be used as an interesting alternative to treat COVID-19 patients. The number of peptides with antiviral effects is still low, but such peptides already displayed huge potentials to become pharmaceutically obtainable as antiviral medications. Studies showed that animal venoms, mammals, plant, and artificial sources are the main sources of antiviral peptides, when bioinformatics tools are used. This review spotlights bioactive peptides with antiviral activities against human viruses, especially the coronaviruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) virus, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) virus, and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2 or SARS-nCOV19). We also showed the data about well-recognized peptides that are still under investigations, while presenting the most potent ones that may become medications for clinical use.
