Roberta Palla graduated with a degree in Biotechnology in 2002 and took her PhD degree in Clinical Methodology in 2008 at the University of Milan. During the PhD program she attended a one-year stage at Catholic University of Rome for biochemical studies on the plasmatic metalloprotease ADAMTS13. After 9 years as a research post-doctoral fellowship at University of Milan, and 2 years as research employee at the Luigi Villa Foundation of Milan, she is currently a graduate technician at the Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation, University of Milan and she carries out research at the Angelo Bianchi Bonomi Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre, Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda, Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan, Italy.

Dr. Palla’s research interests include the characterisation of clinical and laboratory aspects of rare bleeding disorders (RBDs) and the molecular and immunological aspects of patients affected by thrombotic microangiopathies. She is further involved in the implementation of an International Rare Bleeding Disorders Database (RBDD, www.rbdd.org). In the last three years, she started her collaboration with the SIPPET study team for data quality and analysis.

Dr. Palla is author/co-authors of 53 scientific publications published in peer-reviewed scientific journals with a total IF of roughly 218 and a Scopus H-index of 19, as well as co-author of 3 chapters in book. She is author/co-author of more than 60 abstracts presented at National and International scientific congresses.

She is the recipient of the 2017 EAHAD research grant for the project entitled “High throughput analysis of antibody binding profiles in previously untreated patients with severe haemophilia A”. Moreover, she participated as collaborator in many granted projects, funded by Cariplo Foundation, Commission of the European Union (Executive Agency for Health and Consumers, and Public Health Executive Agency), Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and Telethon Foundation.

Since 2002, Dr Palla has received 6 young investigator or travel awards for best abstract at international congresses and 4 research awards from Angelo Bianchi Bonomi Foundation, Milan, Italy and from the Italian Association of Hemophilia Centers

Since 2009, she has been serving as reviewer for scientific journals (Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis – Haemophilia – Thrombosis Research – Journal of Clinical Medicine – Case Reports in Hematology) and since 2013 as guest editor Disease Markers.
Since 2012, she has been participating in the following scientific committees:
- member of the Working Group evaluating Bleeding Assessment Tools. World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH).
- member of the Study Group of the project entitled “Prospective evaluation of the intensity of bleeding episodes in patients with coagulation factors deficiency (PRO-RBDD)” funded by the European Commission via its Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC) and by the industry.
