Operational data obtained by an Italian intermediary firm providing transport, logistics and inventory management services to businesses was examined in an attempt to obtain an estimate of how likely information asymmetry conditions are to be present on the third-party logistics market in Italy. Several major players and innovative startups in other markets, characterized by their ability to capitalize on existing information asymmetries and providing solutions for reducing them, were studied. Finally, specific steps for implementing an information asymmetry-reducing business model in third-party logistics were considered.
