Power regulation of all converter units in a microgrid should not be only determined by load dema... more Power regulation of all converter units in a microgrid should not be only determined by load demand, but also by the available power of each unit, i.e. a converter fed by a battery. Energy management control is essential in order to handle the variety of prime movers which may include different types of renewable energy sources (RES) and energy storage systems (ESS). Specifically, the recharging process of secondary battery, the most prominent ESS, should be done in a specific manner to preserve its lifetime , microgrid line voltage must be kept within the bounds and the energy offered by RES should be utilized as efficiently as possible. This paper proposes a coordinated control strategy based on power-line signaling (PLS), instead of common communications, for a single-phase minigrid in which each unit can operate in different operation modes taking into account the resource limitation. The whole system is explained ahead and finally, simulation results obtained in Simulink are presented to validate the proposed control strategy. On the other hand, the proposed loads are several electromagnetic ballast driving high pressure sodium (HPS) lamps. Although this kind of ballast are not installed nowadays, this paper is proposed for a recent installation where is not worth to change these devices due to lack of amortization.

The main advantages of high efficiency LEDs are their good luminosity, efficiency and long life. Due to these improved behaviour, the number of LED-based applications is increasing. Nowadays, the cost of digital processors is continuously decreasing, and the trend is

The main goal is to perform the complete control of the electronic ballast by maintaining the switching frequency constant and without using other parameters of the power converter, such as input voltage or duty cycle. The magnetic regulator is controlled

The proposed model is particularised for 150 W HPS lamps, providing a powerful tool for simulating the behaviour of such lamps operating with low-frequency electromagnetic ballasts or high-frequency switching electronic ballasts. Simulations and experimental results are provided for verification of the model. The model can be easily extended to other rated wattages and kinds of discharge lamps.

This paper presents a hop-by-hop reliability approach that considerably reduces the latency and jitter of reliable connections. Our approach is feasible and beneficial in overlay networks that do not have the scalability and interoperability requirements of the global Internet. The effects of the hop-by-hop reliability approach are quantified in simulation as well as in practice using a newly developed overlay network system that is fair with the external traffic on the Internet. The experimental results show that the overhead associated with overlay network processing at the application level does not play an important factor compared with the considerable gain of the approach. 2 Hop-by-hop reliable communication in overlay networks An overlay network constructs a user level graph on top of an existing networking infrastructure such as the Internet, using only a subset of the available network links and nodes. An overlay link is a virtual edge in this graph and
