Obesity among children is now becoming a global cause of concern covering all aspects such as economical, psychological as well as socio-cultural aspects of life and work. It is already an epidemic in the western world and now encroaching rapidly the developing countries such as India. India and China are old civilizations among eastern countries and share many common practices, food habits and approaches to health and wellbeing. Both the countries have a long and rich history in their indigenous health practices. Therefore, the present article explores the indigenous methods and techniques, lifestyle and food habits, do’s and don’ts related to the cause, effect, and treatment of obesity among children. There are many treatments and techni...

Insulin is one of the major drugs required to keep the glucose level within desired limits in a diabetic patient. Insulin is generally administered to a patient as a subcutaneous injection and consists of two forms namely, basal and bolus. The basal dosage is required to maintain glucose during fasting conditions encountered overnight whereas a bolus dosage is given along with the meal. Usually, a type 1 diabetic patient requires three to four insulin injections throughout a day, leading to adherence issues. Furthermore, there are problems related to estimation of individualized insulin dosages that may lead to undesired outcomes [1]. Therefore, to overcome the above mentioned issues smart drug delivery systems are being developed that can meet the individual requirements of insulin and minimize its dosage. Hydrogels, network of hydrophilic polymers t...

This research was undertaken to determine the efficacy of the intervention to increase the sex proportion at birth (SRB) in Haryana state. Prearranged SRB data (characterized as girls per 1000 boys) have been obtained for the entire state from the civil registration system. Haryana to evaluate the impact of B3P program. The study of time series regression has used to estimation the change in SRB subsequently program B3P. The sex ratio condition in Haryana has also improved over the time from 827(in 2005) to 900 (in 2016). The B3P program has successfully changed the mentally of the people towards the girl children and they also motivated to educate them in rural area. The sex ratio is also improving at various rural area of India.

The sample consisted of 250 adolescents and their Body mass index was measured with the help of BMI machine and criteria for measuring BMI was taken from Indian Academy of Pediatrics. The result were computed with the help of SPSS software using ANOVA and Duncan multiple range test. To assess Psychological well-being of adolescents scale by Birleson, (1990) was used. It was found that adolescents who were obese and underweight scored significantly higher scores on psychological well being scale indicating poor psychological well-being in comparison to normal weight adolescents. It shows that poor psychological well-being can be a cause or effect of obesity or underweight at an early age.

Specially among children and adolescents.Health locus of control concerns the beliefs of individuals about the agents acting on their health. It is concerned with the individual’s beliefs that either they are responsible for their own health status (internal locus of control), or their state of health is due to chance (chance locus of control) or controlled by ‘powerful others’. Therefore, it becomes relevant to study the path from hunger and satiation to an individual's actual behavior that may often be moderated by psychological factors, including locus of control. Since a majority of researches are on the late adolescents and adult population, it would be interesting to know whether the locus of control finds an expression as early as 10-14 years or it expresses only in adulthood. The sample consisted o...

Process dynamics in a bioreactor can be highly non-linear making it difficult to identify phenomenological models with large numbers of model parameters, especially in real time. In the present work, the Gaussian process regression (GPR) algorithm is used to build a fed-batch bioreactor model using a cascade structure. This model predicts the biomass concentration in response to a given substrate feed-rate profile using three cascaded GPR sub-models, each predicting hold-up, dissolved oxygen (DO) and biomass respectively. A mathematical model of an industry fed-batch fermentation process is used to depict the kinetics in a bioreactor. Firstly, open-loop sub-models are trained and tested with data generated using the mathematical model. Later, these fine-tuned open-loop sub-models are integrated sequentially into a closed-loop cascaded GPR structure. The cascaded GPR model is validated in a closed-loop environment with the solution obtained using a mathematical model. Various model performance metrics such as RMSE, MAE and MAPE are calculated to determine the accuracy of each sub-model and final cascaded GPR fed-batch bioreactor model.

It longer no remains a problem of adults and riches of developed countries, but it is rising rapidly among children and poor people of developing and underdeveloped countries as well. India is no exception. This manuscript emphasizes the need for urgent attention of the parents, educators and policy makers towards the rising problem of obesity and other associated health problems including commodities. This paper discusses the gravity of the health and disease burden and economic burden of obesity to the patient, his family and state during childhood and later. It highlights societal burden associated with childhood obesity. Further, this paper tries to bring to notice certain myths and misconceptions associated and explain the causes and correlates of childhood obesity. Finally, the paper suggests some preventive and remedial strategies for parents, communities, and government that would be helpful in arresting the steep rise and controlling this ob...

India shares this problem in massive volume and focuses its future adverse consequences on health, growth, productivity, and well-being. The health risks inherent, with substance abuse, often are linked with other risk behaviors (like early sexual activity, violence, academic failure, school dropout, delinquency) among children. This renders children vulnerable and poses a greater burden in terms of health, performance, and economic cost to the family and the nation. The available literature provides evidence that developed nations have taken cognizance of this problem long ago, and are working towards educating, rehabilitating, protecting children and preventing this problem. India is still oblivious of the concurrent and future threats and consequences. In spite of the gravity of the problem, not many systematic empirical research studies have focused on why children are turning towards alcoholism and substa...

The wings of butterfly shaped monopole antenna is formed by adding two rotated ellipse of same radius symmetrically placed about the centre of feeding line. The proposed antenna exhibits impedance bandwidth of 3.1-11.9 GHz which covers the whole ultra-wideband frequency range from 3.1-10.6 GHz. The performance is characterised in terms of VSWR, radiation patterns, impedance bandwidth and gain. The proposed antenna can be used for various UWB applications like high performance in noisy environment, low transmission power, cost effectiveness and large channel capacity

Multiple RAVs may exist in infected individuals, often below detection limits, at any resistance locus, defining the diversity of accessible resistance pathways. We developed a multiscale mathematical model to estimate the pre-treatment frequencies of the entire spectrum of mutants at chosen loci. Using a codon-level description of amino acids, we performed stochastic simulations of intracellular dynamics with every possible nucleotide variant as the infecting strain and estimated the relative infectivity of each variant and the resulting distribution of variants produced. We employed these quantities in a deterministic multi-strain model of extracellular dynamics and estimated mutant frequencies. Our predictions captured database frequencies of the RAV R155K, resistant to NS3/4A protease inhibitors, presenting a successful test of our formalism. We found that mutational pathway maps, interconnecting all viable mutants, and strong founder effects determined the mutant spectrum. The spectra were vastly different for HCV genotypes 1a and 1b, underlying their differential responses to drugs. Using a fitness landscape determined recently, we estimated that 13 amino acid variants, encoded by 44 codons, exist at the residue 93 of the NS5A protein, illustrating the massive diversity of accessible resistance pathways at specific loci. Accounting for this diversity, which our model enables, would help optimize drug combinations. Our model may be applied to describe the withinhost evolution of other flaviviruses and inform vaccine design strategies.

Those conflicts relate to caste, class aspects however, most importantly, gender. Girls make up a greater proportion of India's deprived child population. This article seeks to understand the intersecting cycle of removing the girl kids from the education system. The methods the government pursued to tackle these problems appeared to be inaccessible and scattered. The simple existence of teenagers in schools is insufficient measure of challenges face in schools or in the gendered world outside. To address their specific vulnerabilities a complete, multi-sectorial expansion needs to be developed. Capitalizing in schooling for girl’s changes relations, nations and the biosphere at large.
