The value and cost are two tight ropes the companies have to walk and keep their balance throughout. The customer expectations are rising and companies are experiencing competitive pressure to keep their supply chains agile. This paper aims at dissecting the inventory categories at every stage of value chain and propose a Theory of Constraints (TOC) based solution. Pull based replenishment systems across the channel ensure optimum levels of channel inventory with highest degree of on-time delivery performance. The model integrates with a production scheduling model for make-to-assemble products. The uniqueness of this paper lies in the integrated solution for the entire channel and not only the manufacturers. The solutions provided are based on actual study of successful implementation of TOC in a large-scale engineering company.

There is several research papers already published on Sustainability Reporting trends. Limited research available on the quality of the reports. Overall the trend is encouraging however; a lot has to be done in terms of the quality of the information disclosed in these reports. This research paper studies Sustainability Reports of top 100 (BSE Top 100) companies. A critical analysis is done on the data reporting practices and the gaps therein. Since one of the major reasons for the disclosure being the investor education, the information disclosed should be comprehended easily for making the decisions. Several gaps are seen in the way the data is presented in the Sustainability Reports by the companies. It gives a feeling that companies are more interested in the compliance rather than being proactive leaders of Sustainable development. Equal responsibility lies on the agencies that help in preparing the Sustainability Reports for the companies.

Companies will slowly exhaust all low hanging efforts to show the improvements in achieving the sustainability goals and the time will come when companies will have to adopt some structured and disciplined methodologies to achieve the stringent sustainable development targets and demonstrate consistent results to all the stake holders. The study of sustainability reports of select Indian companies reveals a need for a structured methodology for analysis and improvement actions such that significant improvements are seen and sustained over a long period of time. Lean Six Sigma is a proven methodology used by several organizations to achieve sustainable improvement results. This research paper suggests use of Lean Six Sigma as a strategic framework for Sustainability. The Sustainability objectives are required to be part of organizational goal tree. Six Sigma tools also help in prioritizing the projects along with other business initiatives with equal weightage to social and environmental initiatives. Lean Six Sigma improves the process efficiency, eliminates waste, making the Sustainability initiatives profitable for the organization.
