The school regarded multidisciplinary noninvasive analyses applied on an archaeological site and a monument. Moreover, a reconstruction in virtual reality of the scenario allowed to insert part of the data into their environmental framework, allowing a visualization and a localization quite precise for possible subsequent studies and excavations.

One great advantage over traditional structural health monitoring (SHM) systems is that GNSS technologies will be functional in disaster management situations, when terrestrial communication links become unavailable. In this study, a multi-GNSS system, based on GPS and Galileo constellations and exploiting advanced RTK and PPP-AR technologies with update rate of 100 Hz is tested on two benchmark structures as an SHM system. The first case study served as a baseline to outline the methodology: first, a setup phase of the instrumentation, then a signal processing phase and last, the validation of the results. The methodology was then applied to a real-case scenario, in which the GNSS was tested on a road...

The case study using this methodology was Retrosi, in the municipality of Amatrice (RI), Italy, damaged by earthquakes on August 24th and on October 30th, 2016. Researchers from different disciplines (Representation, Restoration, Building Science), worked together to obtain an analytical understanding of the building criticalities caused by the earthquakes. The method is based on a semantic model linked to a database in which specific building elements, constructive, structural, masonry types etc. are classified as data, that includes instabilities and damages.

We show that the thermalization of e-h distributions produced in scintillators immediately after photon absorption may take longer than the period over which the non-proportional signal forms. The carrier and LO-phonon distributions during this period remain non-degenerate at quasi-equilibrium temperatures far exceeding room temperature. We solve balance equations describing the energy exchange in a hot bipolar plasma of electrons/holes and phonons. Taking into account dynamic screening we calculate the ambipolar diffusion coefficient at all temperatures. The non-proportional light yields calculated for NaI are shown to be consistent with experimental data. We discuss the implications of a non-equilibrium model, comparing its predictions with a model based on the transport of thermalised carriers. Finally, evidence for nonequilibrium effects is suggested by the shape of non-proportionality curve and wide dispersion in data observed in K-dip spectroscopy near the threshold. A comparison of the predicted curves shows good agreement for deformation potential value in the range 7-8 eV.

Patients and methods: A total of 200 patients (120 with RA [21 males, 99 females; mean age 44.83 years; range, 16 to 75 years] and 80 with SSc [13 males, 67 females; mean age 44.3 years; range, 30 to 75 years]) and 120 healthy controls (25 males, 95 females; mean age 46.93 years; range, 30 to 75 years) were recruited in this study. Genotyping was performed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. A set of genotypes was confirmed by sequencing. Results: A statistically significant association was detected between STAT4 rs10181656 polymorphism and RA (p=0.007). No significant correlation was detected between STAT4 rs10181656 polymorphism and SSc (p=0.357). None of the clinical features (anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide, rheumatoid factor) or disease activity parameters (limited cutaneous SSc, diffuse cutaneous SSc) showed any correlation with the genotype distribution of the STAT4 rs10181656 polymorphism in RA or SSc patients. Conclusion: Our findings suggest an association between RA susceptibility and STAT4 rs10181656 polymorphism. However, no significant association was found between the mentioned polymorphism and SSc. Clinical features and disease activity parameters did not show any association with the polymorphism.

In recent times, there has been an upsurge in the number of youths involved in cybercrime. Using Robert Merton's Social Strain Theory as a theoretical premise, the paper posits that socio-cultural pressure on youths to achieve pecuniary success and frustration arising from a sense of discrepancy between individual aspirations and legitimate means to realize these ambitions lead to the emergence of yahoo boys sub-culture in Nigeria. The paper recommends among other things value reorientation , the enactment of appropriate legislation and job creation to cater for the army of frustrated youths who are easily recruited into this criminal enterprise owing to unemployment and structural inequality in the Nation.

surveys conducted from a submarine and guided by knowledge-representation combined with a
logical approach (ontology). Two major issues are discussed in this paper. The first concerns
deep-sea surveys using photogrammetry from a submarine. Here the goal was to obtain a set
of images that completely covered the selected site. Subsequently and based on these images,
a low-resolution 3D model is obtained in real-time, followed by a very high-resolution model
produced back in the laboratory. The second issue involves the extraction of known artefacts present
on the site. This aspect of the research is based on an a priori representation of the knowledge
involved using systematic reasoning. Two parallel processes were developed to represent the
photogrammetric process used for surveying as well as for identifying archaeological artefacts
visible on the sea floor. Mapping involved the use of the CIDOC-CRM system (International
Committee for Documentation (CIDOC)—Conceptual Reference Model)—This is a system that has
been previously utilised to in the heritage sector and is largely available to the established scientific
community. The proposed theoretical representation is based on procedural attachment; moreover, a
strong link is maintained between the ontological description of the modelled concepts and the Java
programming language which permitted 3D structure estimation and modelling based on a set of
oriented images. A very recently discovered shipwreck acted as a testing ground for this project; the
Xelendi Phoenician shipwreck, found off the Maltese coast, is probably the oldest known shipwreck
in the western Mediterranean. The approach presented in this paper was developed in the scope
of the GROPLAN project (Généralisation du Relevé, avec Ontologies et Photogrammétrie, pour
l'Archéologie Navale et Sous-marine). Financed by the French National Research Agency (ANR)
for four years, this project associates two French research laboratories, an industrial partner, the
University of Malta, and Texas A & M University.
