This study aims to find out the types of communication strategies used by EFL students when learn... more This study aims to find out the types of communication strategies used by EFL students when learning English in the 12th grade English Cross Interest class at SMAN 5 Bantaeng. This study used descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observation and interviews conducted with 4 students. Data came from three sources: namely audio recordings of naturally occurring classroom interactions; interviews with students and observation notes taken in the classroom. Data from the interaction transcripts were examined using Dorney & Scott's (1997) taxonomy of communication strategies. The results of this study show that there are five types of communication strategies that most often appear when students communicate with their interlocutors as well as towards their teachers during learning activities, namely; Message Abandonment, Non-Linguistic Means, Filler, Appeal For Help and Asking For Clarification. The students used L1 because the students found it difficult to understand L2. This is due to the fact that students lack knowledge of English. Students experience these types of communication strategies due to thinking time, anxiety, lack of focus, nervousness, doubt, lack of knowledge, lack of vocabulary, grammatical errors and self-confidence. This study aimed to find out whether or not Task-Based Language Teaching method improve the writi... more This study aimed to find out whether or not Task-Based Language Teaching method improve the writing skills of class X AP students at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Bontoala in terms of grammar and mechanics. The research method used was quantitative with a pre-experimental design. The population in this study were students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Bontoala. The number of samples used was 20 students and the sample class were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Based on the results, the pre-test score of students' writing skills in terms of grammar was 65.8 and the post-test score was 81.4. While the Pre-test score of students' skills in terms of mechanics was 64.0 and post-test is 83.0. After analyzed the results of the pre-test and post-test data, the researcher found that in writing skills, p-value (0.000) less than α (0.05), this indicates that the null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis is accepted. The researcher concluded that Task-Based Language Teaching through descriptive text at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Bontoala improved students' writing skills. There is a significant difference in students' writing skills in terms of grammar and mechanics with the use of Task-Based Language Teaching methods.

Akibatnya, masyarakat yang berusia diatas dari 50 tahun terlihat kesulitan dalam berbahasa Indonesia. Hal ini dapat dilihat secara jelas ketika sholat jumat sedang berlangsung. Pada saat berkhutbah, sebagian besar khatib menggunakan bahasa bugis dalam menyampaikan khutbahnya. Ini bertujuan agar para jamaah yang hadir memahami secara jelas apa yang sedang disampaikan. Dengan kondisi yang demikian kehadiran kami selaku peserta Program Pemantapan Profesi Keguruan menyebabkan terjadinya fenomena alih kode dan campur kode. Berdasarkan hal tersebut penulis melakukan penelitian studi kasus terkait fenomena ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis gaya bahasa yang digunakan oleh siswa SMAN 13 Pangkep. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif, menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Penulis berusaha mendeskripsikan gaya bahasa perbandingan pada antalogi puisi siswa-siwi SMAN 13 Pangkep dalam pembelajaran sastra di Sekolah. Hasil penelitian ini terdapat gaya bahasa perbandingan jenis Gaya bahasa perbandingan dalam penelitian ini yaitu alegori, alusio, hiperbola, metafora, personifikasi, simile, dan sinekdoke Pembelajaran sastra di SMA bahwa antalogi puisi tersebut dapat dijadikan media pembelajaran.Simpulan dalam penelitian ini, pengajaran mengenai gaya bahasa dalam antalogi puisi tersebut dapat mengembangkan kreativitas siswa dalam memilih kata dan merangkai kata-kata sampai menghasilkan karya sastra yang memiliki nilai estetika Kata kunci : Analisis, Gaya bahasa, Puisi

This research was descriptive qualitative. The population were 20 students at the third semester. The instrument used observation and interview.As a result on the findings, the students gave the positive perception toward the implementation of speaking for intermediate subject to measure the effectiveness of speaking for intermediate subject to support their speaking skill. However, the students claimed that they have got many advantages during the implementation of speaking for intermediate subject. This research also found out that this strategy also needed to be improved by the lecturers in terms of giving instruction, observing the class and evaluating the implementation of speaking for intermediate subject.

The researcher used a purposive sampling method and took only class XII the sample of the research which consisted of 37 students. In addition the researcher applied an instrument of the research namely oral test. In pre-test and post-tes the researcher gave topics through digital storytelling to stimulate the students to speak in front of the class. This research was in quantitative design. The population of this research was 100 students in MTS Muhammadiyah Lempangan Gowa at VII grade. By applying simple random sampling technique, the sample of this research was 30 students of class VII-A. Research instruments used for collecting the data were pretests and posttest. The research was done in two cycles. The pretest consisted of six questions. The post test 1 consisted of one question with theme “school”. The post test 2 consisted of the similar instruction as the prior test but modified with pictures. The results of the research showed that the students' vocabulary mastery in speaking skill increased significantly. In pretest, there were only 14 students fulfill the KKM which was 70. The mean score of pretest was 68.3. In cycle 1, the mean score kept improving to 73.05 came from 21 students....

This research was in quantitative design. The population of this research was 100 students in MTS Muhammadiyah Lempangan Gowa at VII grade. By applying simple random sampling technique, the sample of this research was 30 students of class VII-A. Research instruments used for collecting the data were pretests and posttest. The research was done in two cycles. The pretest consisted of six questions. The post test 1 consisted of one question with theme “school”. The post test 2 consisted of the similar instruction as the prior test but modified with pictures. The results of the research showed that the students' vocabulary mastery in speaking skill increased significantly. In pretest, there were only 14 students fulfill the KKM which was 70. The mean score of pretest was 68.3. In cycle 1, the mean score kept improving to 73.05 came from 21 students....

The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. Meanwhile, the respondents involved in this study include culturist, linguists, and the Toraja community. The research instruments used in this study were document files, interviews with the subjects, and observations using a video recorder that recorded the ritual process of Bulangan Londong Sembangan Suke Barata.
