Works by famous Muslim scholars from the state of Terengganu, Malaysia are still being inherited ... more Works by famous Muslim scholars from the state of Terengganu, Malaysia are still being inherited in the form of hand written manuscripts. It is worrying and very apparent that inherited knowledge and scholarly proof of past Muslim scholars from Terengganu who have dignified the encompassing system of Islamic learning based on the al-Qur'an will be forgotten and not benefited by future generations. This research have been undertaken to highlight a few manuscripts which are the works of three Muslim scholarly figures from Terengganu during the 19th Century, namely Sayyid Muhammad bin Zayn al-Abidin al-Aydarus (Tok Ku Tuan Besar), Sayyid Abd al-Rahman bin Muhammad al-Aydarus (Tok Ku Paloh), and Sayyid Ahmad bin Muhammad al-Aydarus (Tok Ku Melaka), as proof of their personification and scholarliness in dignifying teaching based on the al-Qur'an. We have listed, catalogued, digitally documented the works we have found and made Romanized transliterated copies. The research have identified and ascertained that Tok Ku Tuan Besar as having contributed 11 forms of work in various fields of teaching based on the al-Qur'an, such as faith (aqida), Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), teaching on the Life of the Prophet (sira) and daily prayers (wird). While Tok Ku Paloh's contributions were focused on the aspect of in violating monotheism (tawhid) to Allah The Almighty and a manual on specific practices aimed at achieving that particular purpose in a famous work. Tok Ku Melaka had contributed in the field of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and daily prayers (wird) in three works of his own.

This study aims to determine the role as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors of BMT KUBE Sejahtera 036 in empowering the community's economy in Maccini Gusung. The research method used is a qualitative method with data analysis techniques from Miles and Hubberman which consists of reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that BMT KUBE Sejahtera 036 played a role in empowering the community's economy through increasing customer income, enhancing the entrepreneurial spirit of the surrounding community through training and improving skills as well as providing the capital needs of MSMEs. The position and status of illegitimate children have often become a discussion in society, inclu... more The position and status of illegitimate children have often become a discussion in society, including associating the legality of their acts, especially in the matter of worship. This article aims to explain the Islamic views on the status of an illegitimate child and the legality of congregational prayer led by them. Some writings and fatwas issued by authorities at the national and international level were analyzed. The results showed that an illegitimate child must be respected and treated as an independent human being. However, his status cannot be attributed to his biological father. The jurists also have consensus opinion that an illegitimate child can become an imam in a prayer if all the conditions and criteria have been met and if there is no other person who is eligible to lead the prayer. However, they have different views in situations where there is an illegitimate child with the other persons who is eligible to become an imam. Based on a comparative analysis on the jur...
Religious pluralism is a belief that often gives rise to disputes and debates among various quart... more Religious pluralism is a belief that often gives rise to disputes and debates among various quarters, either for or against the motion. The Islamic society in Malaysia seems to be in a dilemma when it comes to taking a firm stand on this matter. This study intends to discuss and display the facts concerning religious pluralistic beliefs while explaining its danger towards the value of religiosity in Malaysia. The methodology used will be library research and hermeneutic methods. This study concludes that this belief can confuse the beliefs of the muslims and distance them from the true practices of Islam. This situation demands that all quarters must play a role in controlling the spread of religious pluralistic beliefs within the society.

This article aims to examine the issue of the use of new media as a medium of religious learning and the proposed solution due to problems from its use in accordance with Islamic perspective. Di samping itu pekerja hendaklah melaksanakan tanggungjawab mereka terhadap majikan dengan mematuhi arahannya yang tidak berbentuk maksiat dan menunaikan janji serta amanah kerja mereka dengan baik. Modul ini disusun khas untuk kegunaan pelajar Program Pensiswazahan Guru (PPG), di bawah Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia yang dikendalikan oleh Pusat Pengajian Tamadun Arab dan Pendidikan Islam, Fakulti Pengajian Kontemporari Islam. Modul ini mengandungi perbincangan tentang tajuk-tajuk berkaitan ibadat, iaitu: toharah, solat, puasa, zakat, haji dan umrah, korban dan aqiqah, serta sembelihan dan perburuan. Perbincangan adalah berdasarkan pendekatan mazhab Shafie. Namun demikian pendapat-pendapat dalam mazhab lain (Hanafi, Maliki dan Hanbali) turut disentuh, terutama melibatkan isu-isu semasa yang berlaku dalam masyaraka.

The patterns of interactions between drug addicts and their respective family members can potenti... more The patterns of interactions between drug addicts and their respective family members can potentially affect their physical and emotional status. Interactions can either function as stimulus or inhibitors for addicts to fully recover from their negative behaviour. Data for this study was obtained from interview session conducted with 10 families who had members within the unit with drug addictive or abusive problems ongoing rehabilitative process in Besut, Terengganu. Malaysia. This study finds that families with healthier interactions often communicate better with drug addicted member of the family. Conclusion: This positive form of interaction helps drug addicts to react better towards their environment thus helping them with the recovery process.

The relationship between Islamic values and foreign languages in the school environment offers a ... more The relationship between Islamic values and foreign languages in the school environment offers a relatively good example of the challenging aspects of Islamic identity formation amongst the students. Via focused group interviews, this study aimed to explore the teachers' perceptions with regard to the influence of English language learning and the environment in the process of Islamic self-identity formation among religious secondary school students in Terengganu, Malaysia. The study employed a qualitative approach in which 15 religious secondary school teachers in the Terengganu State of Malaysia were selected using purposive sampling technique. The study found that the school environment is influential in the process of Islamic self-identity formation among the students, and English language learning does not have a negative influence on the process. Instead, certain virtues, such as respect, self-confidence, diligence, and decency are inculcated in the students' self-identity during the English language teaching and learning process. Teachers and educational administrators should put more effort toward the best educational provisions for the students' religious identity through exposure to the values of self-identity beyond the scope of textbooks.

Drug abuse is a serious problem that has been faced by our country since a long time ago. The fig... more Drug abuse is a serious problem that has been faced by our country since a long time ago. The fight against drug abuse involves not only efforts in putting an end to its trafficking but also the rehabilitation of those who suffer from drug addiction. In order to rehabilitee the drug addicts; there are government agencies that have been organized to handle it. In addition there are also private drug rehabilitation centers run by non-governmental organizations. Unfortunately, these centers often face the problem of shortage of funds for rehabilitation activities. As most drug addicts are the Muslims and most of the private drug rehabilitation centers are run by Muslims, this study attempts to find out whether in case where these centers faced financial problems in carrying out their activities, can they be helped through zakah fund or not? This paper reviews the argument forwarded by Muslim scholars in interpreting the meanings of zakah beneficiaries and try to find the similarity between drug addicts with several types of zakah beneficiaries. It also try to find out ways where drug rehabilitation centers can gain a portion from this fund in order to support their activities. Through the discussions, it is concluded that drug rehabilitation centres can be help through zakah fund with several conditions.

Modul ini disusun khas untuk kegunaan pelajar Program Pensiswazahan Guru (PPG), di bawah Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia yang dikendalikan oleh Pusat Pengajian Tamadun Arab dan Pendidikan Islam, Fakulti Pengajian Kontemporari Islam. Modul ini mengandungi perbincangan tentang tajuk-tajuk berkaitan ibadat, iaitu: toharah, solat, puasa, zakat, haji dan umrah, korban dan aqiqah, serta sembelihan dan perburuan. Perbincangan adalah berdasarkan pendekatan mazhab Shafie. Namun demikian pendapat-pendapat dalam mazhab lain (Hanafi, Maliki dan Hanbali) turut disentuh, terutama melibatkan isu-isu semasa yang berlaku dalam masyaraka.

Interactions can either function as stimulus or inhibitors for addicts to fully recover from their negative behaviour. Data for this study was obtained from interview session conducted with 10 families who had members within the unit with drug addictive or abusive problems ongoing rehabilitative process in Besut, Terengganu. Malaysia. This study finds that families with healthier interactions often communicate better with drug addicted member of the family. Conclusion: This positive form of interaction helps drug addicts to react better towards their environment thus helping them with the recovery process.

The relationship between Islamic values and foreign languages in the school environment offers a ... more The relationship between Islamic values and foreign languages in the school environment offers a relatively good example of the challenging aspects of Islamic identity formation amongst the students. Via focused group interviews, this study aimed to explore the teachers' perceptions with regard to the influence of English language learning and the environment in the process of Islamic self-identity formation among religious secondary school students in Terengganu, Malaysia. The study employed a qualitative approach in which 15 religious secondary school teachers in the Terengganu State of Malaysia were selected using purposive sampling technique. The study found that the school environment is influential in the process of Islamic self-identity formation among the students, and English language learning does not have a negative influence on the process. Instead, certain virtues, such as respect, self-confidence, diligence, and decency are inculcated in the students' self-identity during the English language teaching and learning process. Teachers and educational administrators should put more effort toward the best educational provisions for the students' religious identity through exposure to the values of self-identity beyond the scope of textbooks.

Drug abuse is a serious problem that has been faced by our country since a long time ago. The fig... more Drug abuse is a serious problem that has been faced by our country since a long time ago. The fight against drug abuse involves not only efforts in putting an end to its trafficking but also the rehabilitation of those who suffer from drug addiction. In order to rehabilitee the drug addicts; there are government agencies that have been organized to handle it. In addition there are also private drug rehabilitation centers run by non-governmental organizations. Unfortunately, these centers often face the problem of shortage of funds for rehabilitation activities. As most drug addicts are the Muslims and most of the private drug rehabilitation centers are run by Muslims, this study attempts to find out whether in case where these centers faced financial problems in carrying out their activities, can they be helped through zakah fund or not? This paper reviews the argument forwarded by Muslim scholars in interpreting the meanings of zakah beneficiaries and try to find the similarity between drug addicts with several types of zakah beneficiaries. It also try to find out ways where drug rehabilitation centers can gain a portion from this fund in order to support their activities. Through the discussions, it is concluded that drug rehabilitation centres can be help through zakah fund with several conditions.
