Enogeografie.

The book is the outcome of the work of several experts in the field and offers an analytical framework of the state of the art of the use of Historical GIS in Italy. It explores the methodological and epistemological implications of the application of geographic information systems to a wide range of different areas of research, on the basis of multiple case studies that have been developed throughout decades of experience. By presenting the problems posed by information and digital tools, the cognitive potential for the new “digital historical geographers” and the consequences in the field of public dissemination, the text illustrates how the use of GIS is changing the understanding and analysis of the geographies of the past and how Spatial Humanities are consolidating in Italian academic research.

d’indagine storico–geografico originale.

However, while detective novels are one of the most successful literary genres in the book market, detective fiction-induced literary tourism is still a relatively unexplored phenomenon. This research aims to determine whether and to what extent detective fiction can promote tourism and affect readers’ attitudes and behaviours towards narrated localities. To fulfil this aim, we have carried out empirical research based on a quantitative method, through the analysis of the answers to a questionnaire shared in Facebook groups. Questions aimed to identify the readers, their motivations for reading different types of detective fiction and their interests and expectations, as well as the push and pull factors behind potential detective fiction-induced tourism. We have examined a corpus of 330 answers from Italian readers. The survey has pointed to the existence of various types of reader-tourists, whose choices depend on the settings of the novels they read, which the detective’s gaze is able to mediate. Despite what previous literature has claimed, the analysis of the questionnaire shows that dark and uncanny atmospheres are not major pull factors. Instead, readers of this particular genre declare that they are more interested in visiting the actual places that have inspired fictional ones, and in immersing themselves in the local societies represented. In conclusion, it appears that the preferences of detective fiction readers not only affect their destination choices but also their approaches to those destinations.

For obtaining the latter recognition, the M.D. establishes a series of criteria, including the use of traditional farming methods and existence prior to 1960. As already noted, this legislation opens up new demands for geo-historical and environmental-archaeological research applied to the characterization and enhancement of the Italian’s rural landscape heritage. This paper discusses the potentialities and the limits of historical cartographies for the diachronic study of vineyard landscapes, also by cross-checking with the bio-stratigraphic evidence collected during the archaeological research. In this regard, two case studies are presented, located in Liguria and Trentino (Italy), which allow for the exploration of different documentary series (18th-20th century), due to the diversity of sources available for the territories of the different pre-unification states of the Peninsula. The historical cartography was collected and analyzed in series, according to the cartographic filtering method, to build a “biography” of the vineyard landscapes. In conclusion, the paper highlights the potential of geo-historical analysis and cartographic sources to provide information on the extent, forms of cultivation, and composition of historical vineyards, also in terms of applied historical geography. At the same time, the examination of the two case studies allows to bright to light theoretical and methodological clues for discussing the official categories currently employed

Following the stimuli coming from French social geography, the paper deals with the analysis of the circulation on the national territory of hard copies of some of the major Italian generalist newspapers using a spatial approach. The certified data provided by ADS have been collected and systematized in a geodataset using a GIS software, in order to produce illustrative cartography and elaborate basic geostatistics calculations on the circulation of newspapers from 2004 to 2019; statistics on a provincial scale were compared and correlated with some territorial socio-economic indicators. The analysis highlights the differences in terms of circulating copies between the various provinces of the peninsula, as well as the new areas of prevalence and distribution arisen in recent years; in addition, the existence of a positive spatial correlation between the circulation of copies and factors such as GDP per capita and the presence of local editions is suggested. In conclusion, the quantitative approach allows to trace a framework of the current geographies of the press and demonstrated application as heuristic tool for the monitoring of the present and future trend of the phenomenon.

The work has been possible thank to the availabity of new archival sources in the Ente Maremma historical archive. The use of a local scale case study, the Cecina Valley in Southern Tuscany, allows to reveal negotiations and conflicts which raised during the Reform application, as well as the different role of social actors.
