Although mandatory for certification, proficiency assessment is still required for parameters that are more objective. Our aim was to assess whether accelerometer sensors might contribute to distinguishing efficiency in therapeutic gesture from experts and novices in the realization of surgical sutures. Material and method: 3 groups of participants: novices (n = 8), intermediaries (n = 14) and experts (n = 7) were enrolled in the study. They had to perform different types of odontological suture. We used 2 wireless wrist sensors to measure objectively the acceleration of both hands and to deduce the economy and the fluidity of the movement. A video recording was also used to complete the assessment. Results: The time and motion criteria were documented to significantly correlate with the experience of the participant. The total time factor has a significant effect with the experience level (p = 0.006). The fluidity of the movement has also been shown to vary significantly between groups. Conclusion: The use of accelerometers coupled with image analysis could make it possible to envisage in the long run an objective evaluation for this type of surgical gesture.

In order to reach this objective, a literature review was carried out for characterizing and identifying the different types of prototypes. Four main features were distinguished for characterizing prototypes: level of fidelity, sustainability, medium and interactivity. After this review, a focus was done on the design phase of a mobile application and the referential framework was proposed by defining eight aspects commonly tested while designing. Then, a case study helped to test the framework in order to validate its usefulness and consistency.

Traditional medical training required to practice procedures in cadavers and animals. New technologies such as virtual reality and additive manufacturing can help surgeons to learn and improve their skills through physical models of the human organ to be intervened. However, shape representation is not enough to have a realistic training experience. Training models need to biomimicry the real organs in other types of properties such as texture, density, mechanical behaviour among other properties. Therefore, different 3Dprocesses materials, textures and densities need to be explored and tested. The goal of this work was the development and validation of a dental dry model system using additive manufacturing. The mechanical profile of the printed models by capturing the force applied by a dental micro motor attached to a CNC machine during a standardized drilling test is measured. This research work was done in collaboration with the Nancy School of Surgery to help develop a new system to guide the training process for dentistry surgical procedures.

New perspectives in the development of museum experiences are being open which impacts the overall functioning of these institutions. To design experiences that are adapted to enhance the visitor experience appropriate methods are required. User experience design and Living labs approach offer tools to support this process. In this paper, we document the experience of the renovation of the Museum-Aquarium in interaction with the Fab Living Lab platform, the academic innovation space of Nancy, France. We present the process of the development of three interactive and digital experiences based on ideation, rapid-prototyping, and test by use. This experience presents the methods and shares the lessons learned in this process. The work performed can serve as references for the development of other museum interactive installations. Furthermore, we identify potential transfer to other domains.

Innovations should not only respond to users' needs, but they also have to meet other technological and contextual factors to be successfully integrated and diffused. Acceptability evaluation should allow designers to anticipate and act accordingly to avoid project risks. However, the current literature lacks of models allowing an earlier awareness of those factors. This paper reports on the development of a method for acceptability evaluation that allows guiding the design of product and services in healthcare. A framework for acceptability evaluation is presented. A home healthcare technology case study is used to illustrate the application of the method.

For these technologies to be used as a support tool researchers and designers need to better understand users' behaviors and experiences in these environments. While most of the existing literature proposes to assess immersive experiences using self-reported assessments such as questionnaires, some alternatives propose the use of physiological data. In this sense, biometric and physiological measures can be useful indicators to study human behavior and performance in immersive virtual environments in order to highlight what physiological data monitoring can bring to the understanding of user experience. Based on an analysis of 1850 papers retrieved from the main bibliographical databases, our paper is aiming to propose a systematic review of the scientific literature interested in the use of biometric evaluation of human behavior interaction in an immersive environment. Through this review, the different uses of the technologies and their perspectives as tools for the assessment of user experience in immersive environments are presented and discussed.
