The best structures for Tin+1and FeTin clusters are planar for size n<5, while from n = 5, they showed a compact three dimensional cage structure. For the best structures of the FeTin clusters, the Fe atoms favors the peripheral position with highest coordination with the neighboring Ti atoms. The evolution as a function of the size of the average binding energies (Eb/atom) and HOMO–LUMO gaps of Tin+1 and FeTin (n=1-10) clusters are studied. The stability results show that the Tin+1 clusters have relatively higher stability than the FeTin cluster with the same size. In addition, the vertical ionization potentials and electron affinities, chemical hardness and atomic magnetic moment of Tin+1and FeTin (n=1-10) clusters are also investiga...

Gonarthrosis develops gradually within 10-15 years, interfering with daily activities and capability for work. Aquatic exercises are considered as a potentially effective therapeutic intervention in persons with knee arthrosis. Aim: Assessment of the effectiveness of a 4-week aquatic treadmill exercise programme, with respect to the measurement of pain, balance, function, and mobility. Materials and Methods: The study covered 15 patients with gonarthrosis, using a 4-week cycle of exercises. The results of measurements included a visual-analogue scale for assessing pain, Time Up and Go (TUG) for balance, 6-meter walk test for mobility and Lequesne index for function. The exercise protocol covered an aquatic treadmill using water jets to destabilize while standing, and achieve high ratings of perceived exertion during walking. Results: The comparison of...

Research paper thumbnail of Biomonitoring of air pollution by lichen diversity in the urban area of Setif, Algeria

Biodiversitas Journal of Biological Diversity, 2022

The use of living organisms in air quality monitoring has received increasing attention in recent... more The use of living organisms in air quality monitoring has received increasing attention in recent years. Lichens, pioneer and colonizing organisms, are directly sensitive to environmental changes. This results in a loss of vitality or complete destruction of the thallus. The objective of this study is to assess and map the air quality of the Seti f region, Algeria by lichens, using bio-indication indices. For air quality assessment, lichen species frequency, the Shannon-Wiener index, Atmospheric Purity Index (IAP), and Air Quality Index (IAQ) were used. Sixty stations were sampled across the region, representing the various level of landscape factors and anthropogenic activities. The study recorded 54 lichen species in urban areas of Setif belonged to 29 genera and 19 families, of which crustose and foliose, were the most common in the region. The pollution indicators (IAP, IAQ) showed an important correlation between them and a difference between rural and urban ecosystems. Anthropized urban areas showed very high air pollution. This is probably due to industrial and agricultural activities, but especially to gas emissions from vehicles. The majority of studied stations belonged to an area with very high atmospheric pollution. In addition, the presence of the species Xanthoria parietina in all the stations studied facilitates to use it as a reliable biomonitor of plant tolerance to pollutants in urban ecosystems.
