My presentation will envisage the following points as listed beneath.

The concept of “mother tongue” is ARCHAIC and must be replaced by “first language as opposed to all others that
are for any person foreign languages. The objectives of education: mastering one’s first language FIRST; the right to
receive one’s education in one’s first language; the duty to learn the vernacular official language of the country.

What is culture? Is culture dependent on its language? The phylogeny of culture? What is a multicultural world? The
concept of POST TRAUMATIC DECULTURATION STRESS SYNDROME.

CONCLUSION
Literacy versus illiteracy. Total versus partial illiteracy. Full versus partial literacy. What is European culture? A
patchwork, a meta-culture, or a systematic or partial hybridized mix?

Five elements to take into account
1. VACCINATION HAS TO BECOME QUASI MANDATARY.
2. BARRIER GESTURES HAVE TO REMAIN ACTIVE IN SOME SITUATIONS.
3. TESTING HAS TO BE SYSTEMATIC.
4. THE POST-PANDEMIC PERIOD SHOULD BE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP A COMPLETELY NEW WAY OF LEARNING AND TEACHING.
5. THAT IMPLIES ALL TEACHERS HAVE TO BE RETRAINED TO COPE WITH THIS SITUATION IN THEIR CLASSES.

They were a tremendous experience. They were able to make music speak and laugh and they moved Carmen, the opera, of course, dumb ass! Picmuche and Poupinou were for me the perfect extraterrestrial neighborly pair if not a couple of clowns. Now that Gilles Defacques is gone, are they still going to wait for the coming of some God? Probably because clowns always stick to their antics. And they have, had, and will always have plenty of tricks in their pockets, and if not in their pockets probably in their shoes, socks, but beware the hats: they always hide some deadly weapons of general laughter there, laughing louse that is ready to jump onto you just like fleas on a famished dog.

1- Benoit Poelvoorde, Dany Boon, Rien à Déclarer. Customs officers are playing carnival.
2- Jeremy Brett, David Burke, Sherlock Holmes, a series and a handful of films.
3- Basil Rathbone, Tribute to Sherlock Holmes with four films, Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapons, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Woman in Green, and Dressed to Kill.
4- Stephen King's Dark Tower, The Gunslinger, the full omnibus edition of the comic book.

The series with Jeremy Brett and David Burke is probably not a masterpiece but they tried to keep the proper environment for the stories that take place at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The acting is good though it becomes slightly routine-minded towards the end.

The four films with Basil Rathbone are from just before WW2 to just after it. No color, no real special effects, and small budgets. One is mediocre war propaganda. The others are banal with no real plot or suspense. Maybe the fourth one might be slightly in Holmes’ line.

Plus a small magazine with some simple data about Sir Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes, the various stories written for the character, and the various films. But today that’s a little bit meager with the Internet. Google Sherlock Holmes and you’ll see the myriad of pages you will get. So, it is a little bit disappointing.

I kept Stephen King for the end because the comic book is absolutely phenomenal and marvelous. Creative art, multi-layer narrator, piled up universes revealing what humanity is doing to the cosmos. Nothing good at all. The art is by far outstanding. We could discuss a lot the idea that in this phantasmagorical universe, the principle you can achieve nothing good if you do not sacrifice a human being before getting on the road is barbaric, and feudal, but deeply ingrained in all religions in this world, apart from Theravada Buddhism.

So, enjoy these series, films, and comic books in the weeks leading to Twelfth Night, Mardi Gras, and the Carnival.

More music and more video too. Only one book for children by the grand-master of horror and fantastic surreal nightmares. But Stephen King for once caresses the sweet and mellow nostalgia of children, for and from the past that is just what they can maybe imagine or desire from the ranting and raving of their old grandparents who are living entirely in those distant days in their dementia.

The video Legacies is in a softened fantastic style that makes all these mutants or paranormal beings like vampires, werewolves, witches, and wizards nothing but ordinary passers-by in the street, except they will cast a curse of some and any sort on your flesh and body because that’s the only thing they want, to take possession of your body and do with it what they want, even if it is crazy for you and because it is deliciously mellow for them. And be happy that’s one essential inspiration that comes from northern Europe, I mean Scandinavia with two old populations, that arrived in Europe around 50,000 BCE. That’s a long time ago, indeed. They were arriving directly from Black Africa on some kind of underground railroad of immigration and they brought their languages and cultures along.

The Vikings are their indirect heirs since they had to wait for the Germanic tribes to arrive after 8,000 BCE not directly from Black Africa because they stopped on the Iranian Plateau for something like 40,000 years. And they collected there some fire-spitting flying animals, generally called dragons, and the taste for human sacrifice and dying on the battlefield to honor and magnify their many gods born inside a fighting armor, and sucking their milk from the spear, arrows, and axes of their mother/father Ymir, that hermaphrodite being, the ancestors of all humans and all gods who grew from the various parts of its body, like the Hindi castes out of Brahma’s body.

We are thus, all of us, the descendants of Ymir’s hermaphrodite self-fornication. And that’s a consolation. Ymir had a moment of bliss in his creational orgasm from its own onanism. Lutherism came later on top of this old mythology after the Vikings had sacrificed hundreds of human volunteers (maybe if you want to believe that: at least the Mayas and Aztecs did not pretend that absurdity) in Uppsala.

And we finish this batch with two disks of music from these Scandinavian countries, both Indo-Eruropean and agglutinative Turkic. Enjoy the trip.

4- Pier Paolo Pasolini, Edipo Re
5- Dune Part 1 & Part 2, with Timothée Chalamet
6- De l’Origine du Monde, a scatological reflection on parenthood by two women in Ambert, France

You might find it difficult to get to the last show: they do not travel too far and they do not believe in videos because their theatrical performance has to be “alive” as they say in French otherwise it is dead. Billions of people are deprived of most things produced in the world because artists believe stage arts have to be seen on the stage and not on a screen. Of course, the big names in the profession know it is wrong, but all the little ones in local little companies don’t even condescend to film their work with a smartphone and then provide it to anyone who wants to see what they did via email and an app like “Gros Fichiers” that can transfer to your email address giga-big files or folders.

All the others are interesting even if not what we could expect from them, from King, from Chalamet, from Pasolini, from Morricone, and even from any karateka. But they were sure important in their own periods. Some artists are aging and getting more cautious with their stories. Some are still young and do not yet know how to impose their dreams and desires Pasolini went very far in his career. King has his best books behind him not necessarily very far behind but his recent productions are not at the same level. It is strange how films and works from the old 1970s and 1980s are coming back. That was a time when we were trying to survive the big chaotic mess of 1968 and then the defeat of the US in Vietnam. It seems some people believe Trump 2.0 is starting a new four years of absolute messy crap… If it is only FOUR years. Does the constitutional limit to two terms have to apply to two consecutive terms or can it be understood as as many terms possible provided only two have to be consecutive to cancel all new opportunities? Imagine Trump in a third term, and even maybe another defeat and then another victory. President at the age of 92, or maybe even with modern medicine and all sorts of chips everywhere at the young age of 104.

Enache and see the ailing city of Bucharest that had not yet been reconstructed since the 1977 Vrancea earthquake (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_earthquakes_in_Romania)

And that is when and how I discovered IFIASA. What attracted me to them?

First of all, their spirituality, in their case their Orthodox Christianity. […]

Second, the emphasis they set on science, technology, and knowledge as constructs of humanity, human beings in their daily life. […]

Third, this last fact or competency opens the door to communication. We are at least 300,000 BCE. The road will be long but this communicational competency will make Homo Sapiens literate in the languages they speak, literate in technology, science, and other knowledge, and literate in spirituality. […]

Any “invention” is nothing but the extension of something that existed before and evolves into what emerges from it.

Who were these people who went through the Peak of the Ice Age? What were their relations with the pre-Sapiens Hominins who had been there for some hundred thousand years? What language did they speak, both the pre-Sapiens and the Sapiens? When did the Indo-Europeans arrive in Europe? What linguistic, genetic, and cultural mixing did they invent with their predecessors?
This should help people centered on Proto Indo-European north of the Black Sea or in some place between Europe and Asia, to take into account, first, the Balkanic corridor, and second, what was in Europe before. The Indo-Europeans came later after millennia of contact with other populations speaking all sorts of PRE-Indo-European languages, languages from the previous migrations out of Black Africa, and of course, the mixture, meaning sexual and genetic mixing, with pre-Sapiens populations that also spoke some kind of probably limited lexical language. Even if the Biblical reference to "beginning" and "end" is absurd in our fields: it is always a constant and continuous evolution and emergence.

The Carolingian Reform of Charlemagne, a reform that we still live on: the 52 Sundays and some holidays such as Christmas, Easter, the Assumption, and All Saints' Day. It is about understanding the transition from the slave society before the Carolingians to the feudal society which for our Livradois-Forez introduced an unprecedented green revolution, water management in drainage and irrigation without any equivalent except in Babylon, Sri Lanka, India, China, and some other Asian countries. The Benedictines largely contributed to this evolution.

The Casadean Benedictines introduced water mills that could supply mechanical energy to grain, tan and oil mills, plus fulling mills for hemp and later paper. They were also able to help set up and operate the braiding machines that made Livradois the homeland of rope and therefore cable, a technology that the Omerin company still develops and today spreads worldwide, the Olliergues factory (now closed but maintained) running on the hydraulic energy of the Repote, a gentle Forézienne river, a tributary of the Dore. The Benedictines also built many Romanesque churches, rich in historiated capitals, frescoes, stained glass windows, and underground water circulations, statues of the Virgin, represented standing or in majesty, always carrying the baby Jesus, all statues we can admire today...

In our modern digital and GenAI world, we need to become literate, autonomous, and endowed with self-learning sustainability in three domains, autonomous yet articulated together.

SYMBOLERACY is the symbolic value of images, hence imageracy, then, the symbolic value of words, semantic references, and syntactic constructions, in one single word, utterancy, and finally, the symbolic value of sounds, hence sounderacy for music, intonation, and tempo, and LITERACY for the symbolism of language. NUMERACY is numbers and numerical operations, thus counting, percentages, fractions, and mathematical operational numeracy. TECHNERACY was using a stone to chip marks on a durable medium at the beginning, and tools to write down data, long before writing systems made it simpler from stylus/brush inscriptions to the printing press. Then came machines transmitting oral messages like telephone, telegram, morse code, radio, and television, before the machine had its self-managed processing way. Now, we are developing deep human learning and enhanced human intelligence.

WHAT COMES NEXT? Pascal Bornet slams on our desk his three humics, genuine creativity, critical thinking, and social authenticity. We are not dispossessed of our intelligence or creativity, mind or empathy. We are yet challenged to make this GenAI a tool that we must use symbiotically to develop both communication and collaboration to learn and teach, which implies, in tomorrow’s no-work world, moving from traditional routine or submissive work to self-development, self-learning, and self-implementing our enhanced, augmented, and upgraded human intelligence to work with the GenAI tools so many people fear. The target is a new type of not yet specified symbolic literacy that would enable us to differentiate true human contact and exchange from deep-fake (the faker, the funnier) or even not-so-deep-fake controlling manipulation. And the ethical challenge of good and evil has never been so profound and awesomely frightening. What will we do, split as we are between adoption and rejection?

They have to be self-learners first. This means they have to choose by themselves the topic they want to study, even if – and even though – within a vast range of knowledge set as the object of the class. Then, the children must have all the necessary means available without any limits, and by “necessary” I do not mean that “unnecessary means” can be expelled or banned: banning anything is the negation of the self-learning process itself. Then, all production has to be shared with the other members of the class, and this sharing has to be done orally and with only sketchy notes if any. Finally, this means all tests, all testing has to be done individually and orally. This last requirement is the only way to avoid simple copy-and-paste from some AI-managed site directly into the test, at best from memory, and at worst from some spying hearing device. And such devices can be bought by practically everyone. They are not guns, but they are very good prompters.

Then, yes, all students are capable of learning, at times a lot, about any subject they are interested in and have selected as their goal, hoping this goal does not become a fenced-in to be precise. The main danger of self-learning is for the self-learner to become locked up in his personal interest and this becomes at least self-centered if not narcissistic and egotistic. How can we make sure the self-learners do not run this risk? A lot more in my recent article “Review of the Trikirion of Communication: Symboleracy, Numeracy and Techneracy,” in Progress in Language, literature and Education Research, Volume 7 [Reference 19, 2024]

Only one way to do it, and to know: sustained practice of group work, and round-the-clock oral debating.

His specialty is the scrolls in old Hebrew he found in the caves around the Dead Sea, the famous Dead Sea Scrolls, and today it is accepted that they must have been written and deposited in these caves in the late half of the first century BCE and the first half, a little bit more probably, of the first century AD. The Teacher of this group seemed to be James, Jesus’s own brother, who was assassinated by the High Priest of the Temple in Jerusalem in the most horrible way you could imagine. He was thrown over the walls and obliged to undress completely, which is unacceptable in Jewish ethics. Then he had to dig his own vertical tomb, was set in it, the head over the ground, buried up to the neck, and then stoned and abandoned to die of thirst.

These documents show a perfect continuity with the Old Testament, which is not surprising, but also with the New Testament and the Gospels, which proves the continuity between Judaism and Christianity.

For me, the most surprising element is the presence, and very well developed what’s more, of the zealot ideology, a dogmatic vision of what Jews are supposed to be, absolutely dominated by and submissive to the Torah. Total fundamentalism that goes along with the elimination of those who are not perfect Jews, who are not even Jews at all like the Gentiles and the Arabs. This zealot ideology is very present in Islam, but it is also present in Judaism and even if in more subtle words in the modern world in Christianity. The three Abrahamic religions have inherited this from the old Torah tradition and the three religions have integrated it into their general preaching.

A phenomenal piece of heritage that gives you cold shivers along your spine. We can really be worried about this, about the future of our world.

Hence, breakdancing just in front of The Albert Hall in London is for him more than a Promenade Concert. It is a Manifesto, not the one by Karl Marx who rests in peace in some London cemetery, but his own manifesto that lets him say music is not a code, but it is a spiritual trip to the other end of our world where you can dance the waltz to a Gregorian chant. So why not breakdancing on a baroque Black and Soul voodoo diabolical rhythm?

Yes indeed, why not? I guess in Poland priests dance a polka just before and just after communion. So, you will not be surprised by this CD. You will be enchanted, I mean possessed and haunted forever, because then you will know baroque music is the favorite accompaniment of all mafia crimes and omerta is the rule afterward. It is sure. Orlinski is trying to tell us something, but it is locked between the lines and he did not provide us with the key to this healing chest.

If the facts are true, and not licensed by the freedom or artistic expression, then the top leadership of the Catholic Church is targeted as vicious, lying, perverse and hypocritical. The Peace of God becomes the Crusade of God and the Commerce of Spices and Silk. An enormous proportion of Crusaders do not come back and they kill at least as many as they are, one dead body for one Crusader if it is not more, and probably ten dead Arabs for hardly one dead Crusader.

We are better now. The end of the comic book is exposing George W. Bush and his Secretary of State, Dick Cheney, as liars but, once again, they do not tell us how many people were killed on the middle-eastern side and how many bodies were buried of such victims of the US invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan as compared to the total number of GIs and other military personnel sent to the Middle East by the US and some other countries.

There definitely is another way of reading these events, provided we change points of view and shift from today’s readership to the consciousness of ordinary people in the 13th century. The full contradiction between bigotry and educated critical mind has to be explored, and I am sure it could lead to very interesting pages.

Orlinski is trying to tell us something, but it is locked between the lines and he did not provide us with the key to this healing chest.




How can we translate love betrayed by politics into music, the suffering of love rejected after sharing it because politics makes the man untouchable by non-Romans, at least untouchable maritally? Berenice pays the price but is not simply executed as an unfit or misfit. She is the only Jew to suffer this fate of rejection like Cleopatra, the Egyptian, and we think of course of the Jewish Judith who took home the head of Holofernes, but what could Berenice have expected from the head of Titus?

It proves, doesn’t it, that things have changed a little, but less than one might think. It is as palatable as François Hollande, the President of the French Republic, being transported by his bodyguard on a scooter to the nest of his mistress Julie Gayet. This is perhaps more presentable than Félix Faure dying in the arms of his mistress at the Élysée Palace.

POTLUCK MEDLEY OF TOO LONG A SUMMER

The summer of 2024 was a monotonous calamity with only a few welcome storms, but even the heat that we are told was 0.7°C higher than the seasonal average, rarely exceeded 35 and remained wisely most of the time between 28°C and 32-33°C and very rarely less than a 10°C difference between day (maximum) and night (minimum). So, no Summer dog days, but rather monotonous weather rather warm/hot but nothing more with a few peaks of heat above 35°C one day here and one day there. I used half as much water – rainwater of course drawn from my large ten-cubic-meter-basin, or huge bucket if you prefer – to water all my gardens than the previous year and almost two and a half times less than the year even before. And yet even though there was a deficit of precipitation in July-August. And I have never harvested so much, except that a garden was the target of an invasion of mole rats that had to be eliminated, contained, and controlled. Apparently, a pipe player is not enough, and the great means and big guns à la Robert Lamoureux were necessary like in his duck hunt in his kitchen and bathroom, with “dad, mom, the maid, and me,” without forgetting the duck as a surprise subordinate guest. In the other garden, the invasion came from an armada of snails who had taken refuge in the roots of my irises and raided everything green and just out of the soil. And here again, I had to use the big means and the great guns of a Big Upheaval à la Guy Béart.

Here are some notes about what I read and listened to, watched and entertained myself with during this boring and unstylish summer.

The dramatic story of Ilya and Vanya was written in 2013, integrating the lyrics of the songs as part of the story. It is a full homage to a young man who does not like his name to be quoted or uttered. Anonymous he will stay, just the way he likes it, and he likes many things.
The two characters carry endearing shortenings of Russian names. The names are masculine and the two shortenings are built on a feminine ending. I was attracted by this ambiguity for our birds of a feather.

This file gives you the introduction of what is the first part of a long research that has been going on for most of my life and has been progressively intensified since 2005 when I moved to Paris Sorbonne, and other Paris private or public universities.

This first part counts seven chapters.

CHAPTER ONE: The Triple Articulation of Language
CHAPTER TWO: Philogeny and Migrations
CHAPTER THREE: Agglutinative Language
CHAPTER FOUR: Theo Vennemann
CHAPTER FIVE: The Migrations
CHAPTER SIX: Darwinization in Question
CHAPTER SEVEN: Where Gustave Guillaume Meets with Sally McBrearty

This long introduction gives all the concepts and procedures used in the research. I submit this file for discussion before the publication of the whole work (the first part only though, seven chapters). The second part is ready to go through its final proof reading and assessment, which will take at least six months of hard work.

I hope you enjoy reading these pages and I hope you take part in the discussion. I will integrate, in a way or another, all remarks or contributions in the final published work. At the present moment the manuscript counts 372 pages with 347 pages of text and 23 pages of notes (514 notes so far), and 228,379 words at (the) last count.

I have added some pictures in this introduction to make it easier to read. These pictures are all rock face paintings dated, most of them, from before the Ice Age, from all over the world. The oldest are from Indonesia and those from Baja California are undated due so far to the fact that the colors used by the people who painted these rocks do not contain any charcoal or carbon. More advanced dating procedure have not yet been used. The meaning is clear: no matter where these Homo Sapiens migrated they took along with them one or several languages, first, and some other capabilities, abilities and competences that made them do very similar things in very different conditions. Homo Sapiens has always been a communicational being with articulated languages and appetency for spiritual and artistic endeavors.

I consider that was unique with Homo Sapiens though some other Hominins had varying degrees of such tools and potentials, but apparently none equaled Homo Sapiens’ survival capability.

DEATH – MARGINALITY – TRANSCENDANCE – LOVE DENIAL

On the basis of the very first steps in that project for Avignon’s University, I submit to discussion the following notes. Britten sounds to me like a spiritual transcending chant and song of death beyond life in the heart of life itself. That love, that life, that transcendence is like the figure of the boy killed in Curlew River or some other operas, since I will only deal with operas, including of course Death in Venice, the perfect sacred garden and cemetery of Benjamin Britten, the graveyard of his belief that life can only be in death, or if you prefer that death can only exist in life.
Here are the operas I will consider after collecting them. Some are ballets, some are vaudevilles, some are operettas, but all are about that strange foreigner who is the only stranger in our life that counts: death, death our friend, death our lover, death our life partner.
Thinking of it now, just at the beginning of this search and hunt, I feel death is the most beautiful experience man can have, and that is not morbid because any “Danse Macabre” is not a simple ordinary dance. It is a trance that leads us to bliss and full mental orgasmic enjoyment.
One of my starting block is La Chaise Dieu’s Danse Macabre and I add to this first lap my review of two books on this Danse Macabre.
