In this article, the object of research is the ESMA memorial Museum, organized in the former unde... more In this article, the object of research is the ESMA memorial Museum, organized in the former underground detention center, one of many belonging to the period of the "last" dictatorship in Argentina (1975-1983). The subject of study, in turn, were the properties of ESMA that evoke a response in the historical consciousness of society. As a theoretical basis, the article uses the concept of "hot" memory, proposed by the German researcher J. Assman. To answer the question of what makes the ESMA museum a place of "hot" memory, the author turns to the context of the transformation of ESMA into a museum space, analyzes its content, as well as the status of the object of memory policy. In addition to studying the basic techniques of working with memory used in ESMA, the author also examines the current assessments given by a number of other authors regarding the official policy of memory reflected in the activities of the museum. This article focuses on the history of the Mexican Catholic Youth Association (MCYA), one of a fe... more This article focuses on the history of the Mexican Catholic Youth Association (MCYA), one of a few Catholic organiza-tions that emerged in Mexico in the early twentieth century. By examining the ideological foundations and activities of MCYA, the author identifies the reasons why this youth or-ganization became the major social force in the conflict be-tween the state and the church in Mexico in the second half of the 1920s. According to the author, the conflict was based on ideological confrontation: the idea of the Christian social or-der as an ideal type of social structure of the state collided with the new political course pursued by the Mexican gov-ernment. In this situation, MCYA, which was conceived as a non-political organization, quickly shifted from participants' joint religious practices and social assistance to civil rights activism in response to anti-clerical state policies. The object of this research is the postcolonial theory, while the subject is its impact upon the ... more The object of this research is the postcolonial theory, while the subject is its impact upon the historical, and namely, historical-anthropological research of Latin America. The author examines such peculiarities of post-colonialism as the problem of identification, the “oppressed”, the importance of linguistic component of scientific description, as well as the political bias of this direction. Attention is turned to the process of adaptation of postcolonial theory to Latin American scientific foundation; emphasis is placed on the fact that the region has its own tradition of interpretation of the colonial past that results in occurrence of the so-called phenomenon of decolonial turn within the Latin American humanities. Based on the comparative method and qualitative content analysis of the works dedicated to postcolonial theory, the author demonstrates the presence of a wide range of opinions of Latin American researchers on such concepts as “colonialism: and “Latin Americanism”...

Citation constitutes one of the most important components of text in all mass media, allowing for... more Citation constitutes one of the most important components of text in all mass media, allowing for the concreti-zation of events and serving to enhance media authenticity. The aim of this work is to study the structural features of the citation technique across headlines in the electronic editions of five leading Spanish mass media outlets between 2010 and 2018. Determined for the purpose of the study were the forms and frequency of three types of citation-direct, indirect and mixed-along with the structural features of the methods by which citation is integrated into a newspaper text. The conducted content analysis demonstrates that citation-driven headlines account for 15% of the total processed corpus and also clarifies the prevalence of direct citation (53%) among the three types. The division of source texts into two groups enables us to distinguish implicit citation as a special type tasked with citing the precedent text. In addition, three primary predicate groups are singled out: declarative, explicative and evaluative. These serve to introduce direct and indirect citations. The analysis of the narrating remark highlights the importance of the pragmatic function of citation in a newspaper text. The study confirms the significance and relevance of employing citation in headlines in the Spanish press and provides insight into the phenomenon of reported speech and the function of citation in mass media.

В данной статье рассматриваются проявления основных аспектов креольского патриотизма Новой Испани... more В данной статье рассматриваются проявления основных аспектов креольского патриотизма Новой Испании в работах мексиканского мыслителя Франсиско Хавьера Клавихеро. К этим аспектам относятся национальные символы, интерес к природе и географии региона, а также исследования доколумбового прошлого. Для понимания замыслов Клавихеро автор статьи обратился к историческому контексту. В статье были проанализированы некоторые факторы, повлиявшие на формирование национального самосознания в мексиканском обществе. Среди них автор выделил расцвет мексиканской науки во второй половине XVIII в., положение креолов в колониальной иерархии и отношение европейцев к Новому Свету и его жителям. Собранная информация позволила автору выявить почву, на которой сформировались патриотические взгляды мексиканского мыслителя. В связи с этим в статье также затрагиваются вопросы о национальном самосознании Клавихеро, о его восприятии Новой Испании как родины и его связи с мексиканским обществом. Автор отметил, что основной заслугой Клавихеро стало развенчание мифов о Новом Свете, и в частности о Мексике, а также помещение древних индейских культур в один ряд с культурами Античности.

The subject of this article is the research activity of Joaquín García Icazbalceta (1825-1894) – ... more The subject of this article is the research activity of Joaquín García Icazbalceta (1825-1894) – a historian, linguist and bibliographer who published a large number of documents on the history of Mexico, namely records on Spanish colonization of the Americas and establishment of the colonial system. Analysis is conducted the formation of scientific views of the Mexican scholar in the context of the impact of external factors, such as the political and socioeconomic situation, as well as public thought. This author reveals the historiographical and methodological foundation of the indicated concept, as well as assesses the degree of influence of the external factors upon the movement of Mexican historical science in late XIX century. Joaquín García Icazbalceta was a persevering scholar, who dedicated most of his life to collecting and publishing of the rare historical writings and documents. The subject of this research is scientific activity of the Mexican philologist and historian Ánge... more The subject of this research is scientific activity of the Mexican philologist and historian Ángel María Garibay (1892-1967), who dedicated his life to accumulation, translation and analysis of various types of texts written in the Nahuatl language during the pre-colonial period and Spanish colonization of the Americas. The goal consists in clarification of schoolar’s contribution to the development of Mexican historical science, namely the ancient history of Mexico. The article analyzes the key stages in scientific career of A. M. Garibay, as well as examines his major works. The persona of this scholar and his writings unfortunately did not receive due attention in the Russian Latin American Studies. The conclusion is made that the works of A. M. Garibay predetermined the vector of research in the area of culture of pre-Columbian period of Mexico for decades ahead. One of the priority issues of the modern higher education is the development of international pro... more One of the priority issues of the modern higher education is the development of international programs of student and teacher mobility. Such programs enable Russian higher education institutions to demonstrate their competitiveness at the market of educational services not only in their country but also elsewhere in the world. In many developed countries, universities are engaged not only in training; moreover, they are centers for advanced scientific researches. Modern Russian universities have chosen a similar development strategy; they tend to move away gradually from the Soviet model, according to which most scientific researches were to be conducted by research institutes which were not affiliated with higher education institutions. The article examines the experience of cooperation between the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN, Russia) and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB, Spain) in training highly qualified academic specialists. The Peoples' Friendship University of Russia is one of the modern Russian universities seeking to become a full-fledged research institution. In this context, particular attention is given to the training of international-level academic specialists. The key problem in this area is the inconsistency of academic degrees in the Russian and Western education systems. In the West, after receiving Master's degree one can enter a PhD program, whereas in Russia there remains a two-stage system of postgraduate education: Candidate and Doctor of Sciences (PhD degree and doctor's degree). This complicates the cooperation between Russian universities and their foreign partners. One of the possible solutions to the problem is the signing of a special agreement between universities, which was developed by representatives of RUDN and UIB. The agreement was signed in 2015; and in October 2018, under the agreement there took place the first successful PhD defense. The article analyzes the positive aspects and difficulties of implementing this agreement. Furthermore, there are outlined the further prospects for cooperation in this area. The program can also be a positive example for other Russian universities and their foreign partners.
