Since each word consists of a signifier and a signified, two fundamental parts of a sign, it represents an image and a concept that a word. Considering this view, this paper underlies the basic theoretical principles of Saussurean aspects of sign, sign formation, and its signification to society.

Since, in Tagore's view, existing Bengali grammar books explain the structures of Bangla grammar from the perspective of Sanskrit grammar, these books do not reflect the underlying structure of Bengali. So, this paper states that Tagore emphasizes Bangla dialects to construct a pragmatic Bangla grammar.

It provides the logical arguments that necessitate this branch of linguistics in Bangladesh. It also concludes that since many Bangladeshi are regularly suffering from various forms of speech, language, and communication disorders, studying clinical linguistics and establishing an independent department at the university is a must.

It includes all sorts of words, for example, simple, complex, and compound, that poet Nazrul included in his poems at different times. It ultimately extracts the underlying structure of his words from the perspective of Bangla traditional grammar.

It logically interprets the underlying structures of Das's simile that make his poems significant, creative and poetic. It also concludes that Das's creativity symbolizes the making more simile to depict the poetic diction and narratives.

People all over the world frequently use postures in various forms and sizes, following the given cultural norms to perform their bodily activities and as a form of visual communication. This paper provides a descriptive study of postures used in Bengali linguistic culture from time immemorial. In addition, it reflects a significant tradition of Bengali nonverbal communication used in the daily activities of Bengali people living in both Bangladesh and India.

It logically interprets how 1971, the historical year when Bengali people sacrificed their lives to establish their political rights as well as to create a new country, Bangladesh, has been turned into a linguistic sign from the point of view of Barthes's Mythology.

It also explains a bunch of terminology practically used in collecting linguistic data in the research field, with relevant examples. So, this outline should be an essential guideline for researchers engaged in gathering the data of Bengali dialects.

Data from a group of healthy Bengali participants who were instructed to write a dictation of a selected Bengali text with various ligatures. The result indicates that in writing words with ligatures, Bengali participants used the transparent forms more than the opaque ones. Thus, it states that Bengali readers use a bypass route to read the words with ligatures in the brain processing.

This study, based on the data of CHILDES, applies the CLAN techniques to measure the TTR and D values of these two children to identify the nature of their lexical diversity.

This paper aims to suggest such an effective method called 'students' self-correction' to be followed by the learners of English in Bangladesh.

This study, based on data collected from parents and teachers of Bengali children studying in English medium schools, concludes that Bangladeshi parents and L2 teachers unconsciously follow the Input Hypothesis as well as the cognitive approach to teach L2 vocabulary. The activity of L2 classroom observation also supports this finding.

Since semantics and pragmatics investigate the nature of the meanings of various linguistic constituents such as words, phrases, and sentences, the readers usually get confused in differentiating these two human sciences. So, this paper depicts the definitions, features, and characteristics of semantics and pragmatics with examples from real-life situations.

The tool is developed in the native language (Bangla) and can be conveniently applied by junior clinicians or speech and language pathologists. Methods: A retrospective quantitative study was conducted among 131 post-stroke patients with aphasia. Initially, aphasia was assessed by the new novel tool, then validated by neuroimaging findings. Severity grading was done according to linguistic data and was presented to show that it was a reliable, valid assessment. Results: 100% Wernicke’s Aphasia and 54.2% global aphasia were assessed by “Hakim-Sadia’s smart aphasia assessment tool” (H-SSAAT 19) coincides with the Neuroimaging interpretation with a significant p value of 0.000. Less severe Broca’s aphasia showed more lacunar lesions and vice versa. Conclusion: This tool can be applied routinely for the quick and easy assessment of aphasia at the onset of cerebrovascular accident.

Although pragmatics is now identified as one of the core branches of linguistics, it originally derives from a special branch of philosophy of language. This paper provides a brief sketch of the origin of pragmatics, isolating not only its philosophical tradition but also the nature of interaction with semiotics and linguistics. Finally, it describes how pragmatics assimilated with two prominent knowledge traditions of the world, maintaining two different names and identities as well.

However, due to the highly inflected nature and morphological richness, lemmatization in Bangla text poses a complex challenge. In this study, we propose linguistic rules for lemmatization and utilize a dictionary along with the rules to design a lemmatizer specifically for Bangla. Our system aims to lemmatize words based on their parts of speech class within a given sentence. Unlike previous rule-based approaches, we analyzed the suffix marker occurrence according to the morpho-syntactic values and then utilized sequences of suffix markers instead of entire suffixes. To develop our rules, we analyze a large corpus of Bangla text from various domains, sources, and time periods to observe the word formation of inflected words. The lemmatizer achieves an accuracy of 96.36% when tested against a manually annotated test dataset by trained linguists and demonstrates competitive performance on three previously published Bangla lemmatization datasets. We are making the code and datasets publicly available at 1 in order to contribute to the further advancement of Bangla NLP.

The study of FOXP2-a potential human gene responsible for the degeneration of half of the members of famous KE family's speech and language performances, starts an epoch-making initiative in this regard. This paper provides a brief description of the research projects dedicated to explore POXP2 gene, including identifying speech and language behaviour of human beings with particular reference to this gene.

Searle's theory helps identify the underlying communicative intentions of these hand gestures a Bengali sender regularly performs to communicate with the receiver in Bengali linguistic culture. Finally, this dissertation arguably extracts the linguistic structures of the above symbolic hand gestures.
