To investigate this study considers secondary data of last 41 years time period (1975-2015). This study implements OLS regression models. GDP growth rate and GDP per capita are the proxies of economic development and for telecommunication proxies are teledensity, investment in telecommunication sector, revenue from telecom industry, revenue percentage of GDP and internet users. This study suggests that investment in telecommunication sector, revenue from telecom industry, revenue percentage of GDP have significant impact on the economic development.

Telecommunication, as gift of modern science is largely different from any other traditional infr... more Telecommunication, as gift of modern science is largely different from any other traditional infrastructure. From international market to domestic market, corporate communication to personnel communication, telecommunication is the prime way to maintain the continuous and instantaneous flow of sharing information. From business perspective of economic activities of modern world, through the communication channel telecommunication not only has significant influences over the economy in term of GDP per capita but also serve many people by creating job opportunities. Hence increasing employment rate may also another significant factor to enhance economic development. Investment in infrastructural development and earned revenue may have strong impact on the GDP per capita in an economy. As a result, for the potential role of the telecommunication, a modern world as well as economy without telecommunication cannot be thought for one moment. This paper is a devoted best effort to find the relationship between telecommunication and Bangladesh economic development. To analyze this context more extensively and reliably, this paper fundamentally focuses on the relationship between various variables under the construct of telecommunication and the economic development. To define this construct into more concrete way several multiple simpler variables are implemented such as teledensity, investment in telecommunication industry, revenue contribution percentage of GDP, GDP per capita, employment rate etc through OLS regression models associated with least square method. This paper indicates telecommunication industry has a significant and positive impact over the economic development of Bangladesh.

To investigate, this study considers various important determinants of socioeconomic status such as gender, religion, occupation, income, education, wealth class, child marriage rate and health. The study finds that the socioeconomic status of the rural area of Rangpur is far more lagging behind than the urban area. By the conduction of the survey it is closely observed that the socioeconomic factors are so close to one another that hindrance in one factors pulling behind the others factors which may consequence a serious undeveloped socioeconomic condition. It is evident that, in term of women empowerment, literacy rate, heath consciousness, and employment these rural areas are facing serious dilemma. Based on the survey the socioeconomic status of Rangpur is not satisfactory as the majority of the population live in the village so that without promoting these rural areas the overall condition will not be able to meet the desired better condition. As a result, based on the findings of this study it is urged to take essential steps in order to improve the rural socioeconomic factors, hence promoting the overall socioeconomic condition.

This paper is prepared with an intention to examine the impact of major macroeconomic variables w... more This paper is prepared with an intention to examine the impact of major macroeconomic variables which includes real interest rate, inflation rate, unemployment rate, GDP per capita, foreign direct investment inflows, export and import over the exchange rate of the countries who are the member of SAARC. To investigate extensively this research paper considers the economic data from 1971-2015 for the selected 5 members of SAARC which includes Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal. The findings from the OLS regression model indicates interest rate, inflation rate and unemployment rate is negatively and significantly related with exchange rate while GDP per capita and foreign direct investment net inflows have positive significant relationship with exchange rate. The results of this paper approve the null hypothesis for export and import which exhibits that import and export has no significant relationship with exchange rate.

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there is any statistically significant relati... more The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there is any statistically significant relationship between capital structure and stock return for the selected firms of pharmaceutical and chemical sector which are listed in Dhaka Stock Exchange of Bangladesh. To examine the relationship this study selects twenty one firms of pharmaceutical and chemical sector. The data collected for the time period from 2010 to 2018. This study considers Hausman specification test to select the appropriate model in order to analyze the balanced panel data. According to the results of Hausman specification test the fixed effect model becomes appropriate in order to determine the relationship between capital structure and stock return. This study considers debt to equity ratio as independent variable and stock return as dependent variable. The control variables are the return on equity, earnings per share, firm size, times interest earned and price-to earnings ratio. The result of this study suggests that debt to equity ratio has statistically significant negative relationship with stock return. Furthermore, from the control variables return on equity, earnings per share and firm size has statistically significant positive relationship with stock return. But times interest earned and price-to-earnings ratio has no statistically significant relationship with stock return.
