This study aims to analyze the style of language, the language style criticize, efficient use of ... more This study aims to analyze the style of language, the language style criticize, efficient use of vocabulary, and persuasive speech delivered in a series of speeches Jeffrie Geovanie a tribute to West Sumatra. The method used is descriptive method and the object of this research is a series of speeches Jeffrie Geovanie a tribute to West Sumatra Padang Ekspres and Singgalang. Based on the analysis we can conclude that the style of language used in the serial Geovanie Jeffrie speech is stylistic hyperbole, personification, epithet, sarcasm, and irony. The author is more inclined to criticize realist style, symbolic, gothic, allegory, and proletarian. In the utilization of the vocabulary used by the author in the form of utilization of scientific vocabulary, popular words, greeting words and idioms. Writers tend to be able to convince and can touch the reader in his speech (speech persuasive).

Folklore found in Indonesia has a moral value that is beneficial for its readers or listeners. Th... more Folklore found in Indonesia has a moral value that is beneficial for its readers or listeners. The folklores occasionally have similarities with folklores from other regions both in terms of the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of the works. For example, folklores Bawang Merah Bawang Putih from Indonesia and the story of Putri Arabella from Malaysia share similarities in terms of intrinsic elements and moral values. This study attempts to investigate the comparison of these folklores using a comparative literary theory. Three main intrinsic elements that are compared include characters and characterizations, settings, and plot. Meanwhile, the comparison of the moral values between the two folklores is focused on individual moral, social moral, and religious moral. The study shows that the intrinsic elements of Bawang Merah Bawang Putih stories have several connections with Putri Arabella from Malaysia, other than the moral values of the two stories. However, there is also a difference found between the two stories especially in the ending part of the story.

This study is motivated by several reasons, and one of them is the lack of ecofeminist studies of... more This study is motivated by several reasons, and one of them is the lack of ecofeminist studies of Indonesian novels. The previous studies focus on novels written by women. Ecofeminist studies of Indonesian novels written by men have not been available so far. The analysis in this study is descriptive with hermeneutic technique of interpretation. This is part of a collective research project in this area. The study leads to a conclusion that Tere Liye’s novel, Si Anak Pemberani, contains some ecofeminist values. The most represented ones in the text are the natural ecofeminist values because there is essential relationship between women and nature. The least represented ones are the spiritualist ecofeminist values because the relationship between spirituality and nature is considered a mystical belief that is no longer relevant in modern society. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan citra tokoh wanita muslimah dalam novel-novel Surg... more Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan citra tokoh wanita muslimah dalam novel-novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, dan Jilbab in Love karya Asma Nadia, ditinjau dari dua aspek, yaitu citra wanita muslimah sebagai pribadi dan citra wanita muslimah sebagai anggota masyarakat. Citra merupakan gambaran yang dimiliki orang banyak mengenai sebuah pribadi, bermakna bahwa kepribadian seseorang dapat dilihat melalui tindakan, ucapan, cara bergaul, berpakaian, dan pola pikir yang ia kembangkan dalam menyelesaikan setiap persoalan yang ia hadapi baik yang berat maupun yang ringan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif berdasarkan analisis isi, yaitu memaparkan fakta-fakta yang ditemukan dalam objek penelitian berdasarkan isi. Objek penelitian ini adalah novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, dan Jilbab in Love karya Asma Nadia. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan membaca novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, dan Jilbab in Love, mengadakan studi kepustakaan, dan mengumpulkan serta mengidentifikasi data mengenai data citra tokoh wanita muslimah di dalam novel-novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, danJilbab in Love karya Asma Nadia. Analisis data dilakukan dengan (1) mengidentifikasi data yang sudah dikumpulkan, apakah menggambarkan aspek yang diteliti atau tidak, (2) mengklasifikasi atau menganalisis data yang dapat diabtraksikan sebagai data citra tokoh wanita muslimah dengan menggunakan format, (3) menginterpretasi data, yaitu menafsirkan data yang telah terkumpul, dan (4) menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa citra tokoh wanita muslimah sebagai pribadi di dalam novel-novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, dan Jilbab in Love karya Asma Nadia, yaitu meliputi sifat wanita muslimah yang jujur dan menjaga lisannya, wanita penyabar dan ikhlas, wanita yang berpuasa dan menjaga sholatnya, wanita yang memelihara kehormatan dan pandangannya, dan wanita yang mengingat Allah atau berzikir kepada Allah, dan citra tokoh wanita muslimah sebagai anggota masyarakat yaitu citra wanita muslimah yang qonitaat (wanita yang taat) tergambar dalam tokoh utama Arini, Asmara, dan Aisyah.

The birth of a literary work cannot be separated from the existence of literary works that preceded it, which have been absorbed by writers. Each region has folklore. Folklore has its own place in an area. One of them is the Padang area and Malaysia, namely Malin Kundang and Si Tatang. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research method of comparative analysis description with a structural objective approach to the literary work itself. By using this approach, we get a description of the similarities and differences from the two data sources.

Humans have a close relationship with nature either as guardians, explorers, or even nature waste... more Humans have a close relationship with nature either as guardians, explorers, or even nature waster. The relationship between humans and nature is also manifested in literary works, especially folklore. In folklore, the relationship between humans and nature is described as very intimate. However, this relationship is not only beneficial for nature itself. In the Minangkabau folklore Ikan Sakti, it is illustrated that the relationship is not too good between humans and nature which ultimately causes harm to nature and humans. This shows a criticism of the destructive attitude of humans towards nature and the environment in which humans live. In the folklore Ikan Sakti depicted local wisdom about how to maintain nature and the environment so that there is a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. In addition, the folklore of Ikan Sakti also voices the cultural aspects as well as the ecological aspects of the community behind the folklore.

Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, yaitu dengan mengumpulkan kata-kata dan kemudian diinterpretasikan dalam pembahasan. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik baca dan catat. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kepustakaan. Objek penelitian adalah citra ibu dalam kumpulan cerpen Surga di Tangan Ibu seri Kecil-Kecil Punya Karya (KKPK). Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori kritik sastra feminisme. The type of this research was qualitative research by using analysis of descriptive method. The data of this research was novel Kenanga by Oka Rusmini. The technique of data collection was done through four stages: (1) read and understood the novel as a whole, (2) determined the character, (3) identified data related to the kinds of gender inequality, the factors of gender inequality, the impacts of gender inequality, and (4) inventorized of data based format inventory data. The research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. Background or where the study was conducted in Kenagarian Toboh Sikaladi Sintuk Toboh Tower District of Padang Pariaman district. The informants consist of one main informant and two supportive informants. Data were collected through three stages, namely observation, interview and recording techniques. This pleasures the children and helps them in self-improvement. In depicting women’s world, an Indonesian writer tends to focus on their domestic than public life. This is because domestic life is considered safer for women, and women are considered best settled in the domestic life. There are six images closely associated with women; a mother, a loyal woman, a successful woman, a second woman, an ideal woman, and a bad woman. Mother image is the most found, 14 of 15 fictions examined in this research. Folklore has its own place in an area. One of them is the Padang area and Malaysia, namely Malin Kundang and Si Tatang. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research method of comparative analysis description with a structural objective approach to the literary work itself. By using this approach, we get a description of the similarities and differences from the two data sources.

Humans have a close relationship with nature either as guardians, explorers, or even nature waste... more Humans have a close relationship with nature either as guardians, explorers, or even nature waster. The relationship between humans and nature is also manifested in literary works, especially folklore. In folklore, the relationship between humans and nature is described as very intimate. However, this relationship is not only beneficial for nature itself. In the Minangkabau folklore Ikan Sakti, it is illustrated that the relationship is not too good between humans and nature which ultimately causes harm to nature and humans. This shows a criticism of the destructive attitude of humans towards nature and the environment in which humans live. In the folklore Ikan Sakti depicted local wisdom about how to maintain nature and the environment so that there is a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. In addition, the folklore of Ikan Sakti also voices the cultural aspects as well as the ecological aspects of the community behind the folklore.

Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik baca dan catat. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kepustakaan. The type of this research was qualitative research by using analysis of descriptive method. The data of this research was novel Kenanga by Oka Rusmini. The technique of data collection was done through four stages: (1) read and understood the novel as a whole, (2) determined the character, (3) identified data related to the kinds of gender inequality, the factors of gender inequality, the impacts of gender inequality, and (4) inventorized of data based format inventory data. The research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. Background or where the study was conducted in Kenagarian Toboh Sikaladi Sintuk Toboh Tower District of Padang Pariaman district. The informants consist of one main informant and two supportive informants. Data were collected through three stages, namely observation, interview and recording techniques. In depicting women’s world, an Indonesian writer tends to focus on their domestic than public life. This is because domestic life is considered safer for women, and women are considered best settled in the domestic life. There are six images closely associated with women; a mother, a loyal woman, a successful woman, a second woman, an ideal woman, and a bad woman. Mother image is the most found, 14 of 15 fictions examined in this research.
