Research paper thumbnail of A Comparison Of Grey Model And Fuzzy Predictive Model For Time Series

A firstorder linear dynamic model GM(1,1) is the main component of the grey system theory. The grey model requires only a few previous data points in order to make a real-time forecast. In this paper, we consider the daily average ambient temperature as a time series and the grey model GM(1,1) applied to local prediction (short-term prediction) of the temperature. In the same case study we use a fuzzy predictive model for global prediction. We conclude the paper with a comparison between local and global prediction schemes.

A DC/DC buck converter to regulate the output power of the photovoltaic system is considered. The Fuzzy-PID scheme operates on MPP and improves the performance of solar energy conversion efficiency. The offline optimization algorithm of Big Bang - Big Crunch (BB-BC) is applied on the parameters of the proposed controller and upgrades the overall performance of the controller. The prime contribution of this study is a simple and effective solution for MPPT. The optimized fuzzy-PID controller is compared with a fuzzy-PID controller set up by the trial and error method in order to highlight the contribution of the offline algorithm in the overall performance of the system. The tuned controller is also compared to the conventional perturbation and observation (P&O) method, with a Fuzzy-PID optimized by Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (PSO).

Essentially, they provide hospitality goods and services to travelers, individuals with different profiles and interests, and thus play a very important role in the tourism sector. Therefore, the purpose of the article is to point out the theoretical approach of innovation in the context of its utilization in hotels for individuals with disabilities. We have reviewed the existing theoretical approaches to innovation and then analysed their applicability in the tourism sector. Based on the findings, we developed theoretical approaches, such as the coupling theory and the innovation diffusion theory, that can be applied to the target sectors and provide valuable insights to the relevant actors. Research shows that innovation, whether it concerns technological applications or processes, affects the enrichment of hotel services provided for people with disabilities and influences the technical-functional and organizational processes of hospitality. On this basis, innovation is a key factor of growth for any hotel, as it increases its competitiveness and sustainability through the utilization of the potential provided by the use of new innovative technological applications or processes for people with disabilities.

Research paper thumbnail of Classical electrical circuitry to support modern control methods

2015 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems (ICECS), 2015

Pneumatic positioning systems have always been attractive for robotics and automation application... more Pneumatic positioning systems have always been attractive for robotics and automation applications due to their high power-to-weight ratio and low cost. On the other hand, achieving fast and accurate control of their position have been known as a complex control problem and in fact it has not been solved yet in a 100% percentage of position accuracy and repeatability. A smart way to implement the three term classical control approach (PID) to such a system is presented in this paper. The I-Term was selected to be "switched" on and off, dynamically and automatically, according to the system control requirements. Although the task sounds challenging for an engineer, the primary aim of this research project is to design and implement an advanced electrical board which will be the embedded interface between an engineer and a pneumatic positioning plant. The interface board will include a microcontroller and all necessary peripheral circuitry as well as the software environment where the control code will be composed. Low cost, easy to pick-up from a local store electrical equipment will be used that can operate under non up to date computer connection thus minimizing the cost of the whole system further. Reliability, low cost and ease of use of the board are critical design factors. The feedback data of the pneumatic system performance will be monitored in a computer monitor via the board's data acquisition operation in real time.

As a result, house confinement measures were taken. Universities, due to their offering either directly or via their lifelong education centers, were partially prepared to offer distant learning solutions for their students during the pandemic. The lessons, in the general case, were delivered in an ad hoc manner utilizing teachers' personal experiences and preferences creating some pressure on existing infrastructures. In the case of the Department of Industrial Design & Production Engineering at the University of West Attica, things were more organized than in the general case: there was a, more or less, uniform practice of preferring synchronous lessons and some monitoring was planned in order to evaluate the application for future reference. There are plenty of sensor types that are used in industry for various purposes. One type of the sensors is position sensors which are divided into Linear and Rotational sensors. This report is dedicated to the rotational sensors by specifying several different types of them. These types are Incremental rotary encoders, Absolute encoders and Inductive rotary sensors. Incremental rotary encoders measure or record length, angles, thickness and speed. They are often combined with counting, visualizing and control systems in order to achieve programmed positions, preset step shifts or to display measured values. Absolute rotary encoders are ideal to control motions and to determine position on industrial controls of operating robots and machines. Inductive rotary sensors are contactless sensors used to measure position, rotation, or speed. They work using transformer principles where current carrying coils induce a current in a metal disk.

The related research investigates new phosphors and nanophosphors for modern systems in combination with different optical sensors, and yields to novel computational Monte Carlo codes targeted to the applicability of phosphor and nanophosphor sensory material in medical imaging.

Research paper thumbnail of Classical electrical circuitry to support modern control methods

At the same time, the digital divide has disadvantaged many in developing economies as well as the disabled population. It is interesting to observe, however, that the emerging computer technologies, especially mobile computing, are offering significant opportunities to this disadvantaged population. This chapter discusses these opportunities that increase the participation in and reaping of benefits from tourism.

While data collected in the process are still going throug...
