This paper reports the interaction of presenters and visitors on 15 minutes poster presentation o... more This paper reports the interaction of presenters and visitors on 15 minutes poster presentation of an EFL classroom in an Indonesian university. Video was used to record the entire poster presentation. The video recording was analyzed using (1) micro interactional analysis (2) selective verbatim transcript and (3) Seating Chart Observation REcord (SCORE). The paper presents how nature an interaction among presenters, visitors and visitors-presenters occurred on poster presentation. It includes the activities of presenters in negotiating the material that will be explained and also the activities of visitors in ensuring their understanding about the material given. In other word, it showed the role of interaction to reinforce their understanding in delivering and receiving material. Further, the paper emerges the issues on how all of the poster presentation activities analyzed were integrated to the social development theory (SD). This micro interactional analysis report has pedagogical implications for the implementation of poster presentation in an Indonesian higher education. INTRODUCTION Poster presentations, which are given repeatedly to small groups, seem to have several advantages, including increased speaking opportunities, more interaction between the speaker and the audience, and less anxiety for the speaker (Prichard and Ferreira, 2014). Prichard and Ferreira reported that poster presentation adequate evolves interaction between the presenters (speakers) and the visitors (audiences) in classroom activities. The presenters were divided into passage master or enricher and summarizer. They reveal the material repeatedly to different pairs or small group rather than whole class. From repeating the equal tasks, hence the students might be able to improve what they have already done in order to take time not only to do mental work on what they have explained but also to access and reorganize words and grammatical structures more efficiently, effectively, and accurately (Ahmadian, 2012). The visitors were divided into three roles that are information seeker, questioner and note maker or reporter. They move to one poster to another. From the video recording, the nature of presenters, visitors and visitors-presenters interaction that cooperate in doing poster presentation as a medium to acquire knowledge in classroom activity can be seen explicitly.
