Charalampos is Assistant Professor of Economic Geology in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He had been working as a researcher in the Faculty of Geology and Geoenvrinonment of the University of Athens since 1993. From 2014to 2019 he had been serving as Teaching Fellow in the Department of Economic Geology and Geochemistry.

His scientific interests include:
* High temperature geochemistry applied to the petrogenesis of igneous and metamorphic rocks and geochemical evidences for the formation of ore deposits,
* Low temperature geochemistry including environmental amd applied geochemistry,
* Prediction of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes according to geochemical parameters changes.
* Methods of environmental remediation,
* Raw materials exploration and exploitation,
* New and innovative applications for raw materials and industrial by-products in environmental uses.
* Material Science.

He has dealt professionally with the Information Technology and its applications in Geosciences.
He is a certified trainer on issues of Geology and Information Technology in the Registration of the National Accreditation Centre for Continuing Vocational Training (EKEPIS).

He has a long laboratory experience in Greece (University Athens, Institute of Geological and Mineral Research, NCSR DEMOKRITOS) as much as in abroad (University of Leicester, UK), in modern methods for chemical and mineralogical analyses (X.R.D., X.R.F., A.A.S., I.N.A.A., S.E.M., E.P.M.A., etc.)
He also has a long-time experience in the adaptation, development and application of new methods of environmental geochemical research.

He has participated in more the 14 national and international projects of basic and applied research.
He has published more than 50 research papers, in referred international journals and referred scientific conferences proceedings. His work has more than 400 citations.
He has also participated in the writing of books and educational material.
