In all the three sources, water was contaminated with eggs, cysts or oocysts of the parasite. The results indicates overall prevalence of 65.5% (295/450) of protozoa, including Giardia spp 14.1% (63/450), Cryptosporidium spp 19.5%(88/450), T. gondii 2.8% (13/450), F. heptica4.8%(22/450), B. coli 5.78% (26/450) and Entamoeba spp. 14.4% (65/450). The result of the study presents a need of an appropriate source of drinking water to identify the threshold of water sources contamination that requires treatment. Preventing waterborne disease and the health effects of water contamination is vital to our nation’s public health due to the fact that access to safe drinking water is required cornerstone of public health .

This parasite is cosmopolitan and frequently found in patients with poor oral hygiene and advanced periodontal disease. By using wet mount smear and giemsa staining to detect the prevalence of oral protozoa in patients with oral diseases and a healthy control group. From October 2009 to April 2010, the subgingival dental plaques of 310 patients with gingivitis or periodontitis and 310 controls who attended to clinics periodontics , dentistry college- Babylon university. 64 (20.6 %) of patients were positive (40.2 % periodontitis ,14.2 % gingivitis) by using wet preparation and Giemsa staining.. The prevalence of oral Trichomonas tenax in our study (20.6%) and Entamoeba gingivalis was (42.9 %) was compatible with many other published reports which mostly has ranged from 12%-32%.The study revealed dependence between the frequency of occurrence of protozoa and the state of periodontitis.the age group (41-50)yr. Have high incidence of T.tenax compared with an other groups,as well as the males have high incidence(24.7 %) than females (16.8 %).

In children who were attended to laboratories maternity and pediatrics general hospital in Babylon province for the period from Septmber 2010 to May 2011. The age of children was ranged from less than 6 months to 5 years old and to show the effect of six medical plants extracts on the parasite in Balb\c mice.
The study was carried out on 605 fecal samples of children, 318 males and 287 females. Detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts was done by modified Ziehl-Neelsen methods.
The results show the rate of Cryptosporidium infection was (9.42 %), it did not vary between males and females. The highest rate of infection was among less than 6 months to less than one year old. The distribution of infection was highest in September (23.75 %) followed by March (13.75 %) and November (10.3 %) and the lowest was in January (4.54 %).
the effect of six medical plant extracts on the shedding of oocysts in mice, decrease the shedding of Cryptosporidium oocysts in mice. Using 250 mg / kg body weight, route it was shown that the efficacy of Peganum harmala (65.9 %) followed by Artemesia herba alba (56.5 %), Ricinus communis (34.3 %).and lowest was Thymus vulgaris (19.1 %). It was also shown that the efficacy of medical plants extracts (500 mg / kg body weight) was higher than (250 mg / kg B.W.) in shedding of the parasite oocysts.

A total of 389 samples (feceses and blood) were examined form patients attended to primary health center in Al-Doullab Village (Babylon Province\ Iraq).Their ages range from 1-55 years . The overall percentage of anaemia was (20.9%) and the highest percentage incidences were in females 59.2% comparison with males (40.8 %). The overall percentage of parasitic infection was 60.15% distributed as 58.7 % for females and 60.9 % for males. The highest percentages were those of Entamoeba histolytica followed by Enterobius vermicularis then Giardia lamblia , then Ancylostoma deudenale, then Ascaris lumbricoides and the lowest Trichuris trichura .The percentage of anaemia is higher in infected persons compared with non infected with parasites, as infection with E.histolytica, then G.lamblia, T.trichura , A.lumbricoides ,while infection with E.vermicularis the percentage of infection is higher in non anemic individuals. Otherwise the highest percentage of infection by E.histolytica appeared in the ages group 31-40 while the lowest was in ages group 41-50 and more. As regard to infection of G.lamblia the highest infection was in age 1-10 while the lowest was in age 31-40 . E.vermicularis was dominant in age 41-50 and less in the age 1-10. The highest infection with A.duedenale was in the age 31-40 while the lowest was in age 11-20. The highest infection rate A.lumbricoides was in the age 1-10 while the lowest was in age 11-20 .
