The Unitarian Meeting House (at 50 Bloomfield Ave.) will be holding a special sermon for National Coming Out Day at 9 am and 11 am:

Sunday 8 October - If Homophobia Were Done In, What Then? Rev BJ - National “Coming Out” Day, celebrated on October 11th since 1988 is an occasion for encouraging those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered to ‘come out’ and for reminding those who are heterosexual to continue making it safe for that to happen. How might we UUs, though long supportive of GLBT concerns, maintain our vigilance for fairness for all people?

Coming Out Celebration in the Chapel from 10-11: The Welcoming Congregation presents a panel of volunteers from CT Stonewall Speakers. Our panel, Charlie Kreiner, a gay man, Peg Otto, a lesbian mom and Maryanne Gooder, a male to female transgender woman, will share their personal coming out stories and answer questions about GLBT issues and issues of coming out in their daily lives.

There's a new student faith group on campus, the University of Hartford Unitarian Universalists! (Also known as UHUUs)

The purpose of this liberal religious group is to support the need for personal spiritual growth, inspirational worship, and social justice in a mutually caring community where we can learn from each other. All welcome regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, disability and without requiring adherence to any particular religion, belief, or creed. You do not have to identify as a Unitarian Universalist to attend! We are radically inclusive, spiritually alive, and justice centered!

We meet every Tuesday, 5-7PM on the 3rd floor of Gengras in Room 339 (Farmington). Free dessert is provided!

We would like to invite you to attend these events:

Sunday Drum Circles

Spiritual Gathering

For more information, go to http://uhaweb.hartford.edu/uhuus/ or look at our group profile on facebook. Or you can e-mail any questions you have to uhuus@hartford.edu!

Lia: So let me get this clear. You don't like Cher OR Bette Midler?

Jake: For the last time, NO!

Lia: Wow. How odd. Are you sure you're gay?

Jake: No, I'm just pretending to be gay for all the social benefits it brings.
