Its key risk factors are dynamic knee valgus (DKV) and abnormal alignment during jump landing. One of the successful protocols regarding the prevention of knee injuries in female volleyball players is professional sportsmetrics volleyball training. In the present study, the effect of this protocol on DKV correction and landing error scoring system (LESS) was investigated. Methods The current research is quasi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design. The statistical sample included 30 female volleyball players (Mean±SD age: 20.83±2.22 years, Mean±SD height: 168.16±6.47 cm, Mean±SD weight: 59.13±7.4 kg, Mean±SD body mass index (BMI): 20.83±1.52 kg/ m 2 , and Mean±SD sports experience: 5.46±1.8 years) who were randomly divided into the training (15 people) and control (15 people) groups. Double leg squat and LESS tests were used to evaluate DKV and landing error. The exercise group participated in the present protocol for 6 weeks, three sessions per week. Each session was approximately 90 minutes, including warm-up exercises, sportsmetrics volleyball training, and cool-down. The analyses of covariance were used to evaluate the data at a significant level of P=0.05. Results The results of covariance analysis showed that performing these exercises significantly reduced (P=0.01) DKV (from 23.13 to 7.86) and landing error (from 17.46 to 7.6). In other words, the training group experienced a 66% decrease in DKV and a 56% decrease in landing error after performing six weeks of sportsmetrics volleyball training. Conclusion Sportsmetrics volleyball training has successfully improved performance and prevented ACL injury in female volleyball players. According to the present study results, performing these exercises leads to correct DKV and improves lower extremity alignment and landing technique. Therefore, performing sportsmetrics volleyball training is strongly recommended for female volleyball players with DKV.

The Tuck Jump Assessment (TJA) is a screening instrument designed to recognize neuromuscular deficits related to Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The current study investigated the prevalence rate of neuromuscular deficits during tuck jump in female and male physical education and sports sciences collegiate students. Methods: The study subjects included all undergraduate students of physical education and sports science at the University of Kurdistan in 2018-2019 academic year (male/female =55-77, Mean±SD age: 21.3±1.7 y, weight: 63.4±12.3 kg, height: 169.4±9.5 cm, body mass index: 21.97±2.94 kg/ m2, and sports experience: 4.95±3.38 y). All study subjects conducted the TJA, which consisted of continuous maximal height tuck jumps for 10 seconds. Tuck jump performance was recorded by two cameras in sagittal and frontal planes and was evaluated using the Kinovea software. The performance was scored across 10 criteria using the modified scale (0-2). Results: One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) results revealed a significant difference between the tuck jump scores in male and female athletes (P<0.01). The difference between male and female athletes was not significant in neuromuscular fatigue and quadriceps dominance; in both groups, the prevalence of these defects was <15%. However, there was a significant difference between the ligament dominance, trunk dominance, and leg dominance of male and female athletes (P<0.01). The prevalence of leg dominance in males (65.5%: 49.1% grade 1, 16.4% grade 2) was higher than that of the females (45.5%: 40.30% grade 1, 5.2% grade 2). But the prevalence of ligament dominance in females (81.8%: 51.9% grade 1, 29.9% grade 2) was higher than that of the males (40%: 34.5% grade 1, 5.5% grade 2). Besides, the prevalence of trunk dominance in females (72.7%: 57.1% grade 1, 15.6% grade 2) was higher than that of the males (26.3%: 25.5% grade 1, 1.8% grade 2). Conclusion: The mean score of incidence of the ligament dominance, trunk dominance, and leg dominance was ˃50% in the study subjects. Thus, it is recommended that preventive exercise programs emphasize on the correction of these defects. The correction of leg dominance deficiency is a priority among males; however, the correction of ligament dominance and trunk dominance is the priority among females.

The purpose of this study was to review the kinesiopathology of thoracolumbar spine injuries in throwing and overhead young athletes. Methods: Articles on the topic in the past two decades were searched in sush databasesas in PubMed Medline and Science Direct and articles with keywords like "Pitchers Spine", "Throwers Spine", "Pitchers Injuries", and "Overhead Throwers Injuries". Finally 24 papers were selected from among 134 papers. Results: Most of elbow and shoulder overuse injuries in throwing occur at preparation phase and deceleration phase. Muscle injuries in throwing and overhead young athletes, often include core muscle strain which includes internal and external oblique, transverse abdominal and in relatively high rates rectus abdominis and the core muscle strain rein jury. The damage to the posterior elements of the spine occur due to the rotation, hyperextension, and flexion during repetitive activities such as swing the bat and hitting. The incidence of scoliosis in throwing and overhead young athletes with asymmetric load distribution on the trunk and shoulders is very common. The discs of these athletes are prone to injury due to axial loading, hyperextension/ flexion and rotation during the preparation exercises and also due to biomechanics of throwing, swing and services. Conclusion: Throwing skills can affect the entire kinetic chain. Force production in each segment of the body increases the load on the adjacent segments and ultimately injuries occurred in the weaker segments and joints of the body. Accordingly, it is recommended in assessing thoracolumbar injuries and development treatment plans for throwing and overhead athletes, dynamic stability of pelvis, lower back and core be evaluated. Following thoracolumbar spine injuries, the athletes should be allowed to return to play after achieving the free pain range of motion, and stability of lumbopelvic-hip complex, and progress in the rehabilitation plane to special sport exercise phase.

On the contrary, weak core stability causes alterations in transferring forces, reduces sport performance, and increases risk for injury, especially in the lower extremities. Therefore, the current study investigated the relationship between core endurance and performance in professional female badminton athletes. Methods: To examine the aforementioned relationship, badminton athletes invited to the 2017 Youth National Team camp (n=16, Mean±SD age=14.9±1.2 y, height=163.0±4.5 cm, weight=57.8±4.3 kg) completed core endurance and performance tests. Badminton athletes performed 5 performance tests (Y balance, vertical jump, 20 m sprint, 4×9 agility, and single-leg triple crossover hop tests), and 4 core endurance tests (trunk flexor, trunk extensor, and bilateral side bridge tests). Results: Data analysis indicated significant correlations between core endurance and balance (r=0.52, P=0.04), as well as between core endurance and triple crossover hop test (r=0.63, P=0.01); however, relations between core endurance and other performance tests (vertical jump, 20 m sprint, agility) were not statistically significant. Conclusion: Considering the significant correlations between core endurance and balance and triple crossover hop test, it is suggested that personal trainers, coaches, and badminton athletes use the core stability exercises to improve balance and single-leg cutting maneuver. As a result, the chance of non-contact lower extremity injuries caused by the loss of balance or those occurring during cutting movement will be reduced.

Methods: In this study, 35 healthy basketball players (with the mean age of 20.98± 1.99, height 183.27 ± 6.64 cm and mass 75.31 ± 9.24 kg), in the control group (n = 18) and dynamic knee valgus group (n = 17) with no lower-extremity injury during the past volunteed to take part in the study. The peak force and the passive range of motion were measured rspecively by a hand-held dynamometer and a goniometer. The Independent samples T-test at the significance level of 0.05 was used to determine the difference of strength and range of motion in the control and dynamic knee valgus groups. Results: BCompared with the control group, the dynamic knee valgus group showed to have a greater strength of the hip external rotation and extension (respectively P=0.000, P=0.004), smaller Plantarflextion strength (P=0.001), smaller dorsiflexion range of motion with knee bent (P=0.021), and greater external rotation of the hip (P=0.002). Conclusion: The results showed that the dynamic knee valgus group exhibited tight and weak ankle musculature, and as appeared, training interventions focused on improving strength and range of motion of the ankle can improve lower extremity kinematics during overhead squat and can modify the dynamic knee valgus.

Sixteen trained males (age: 21.6 ± 7.1 years; height: 179.7 ± 5.6 cm; body mass: 72.15 ± 6.8 kg) participated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo (PLA) controlled crossover design. Participants supplemented with CAF (6 mg/kg of body mass) and an isovolumetric PLA (maltodextrin) in random order and separated by 7 days, before an all-out 30-s anaerobic cycling test to determine peak, average, and minimum power output, and fatigue index. Genomic deoxyribonucleic acid was extracted to identify each participants CYP1A2 genotype. Six participants expressed AA homozygote and 10 expressed C alleles. There was a treatment by genotype interaction for peak power output (p = .041, η2 = .265, observed power = 0.552) with only those expressing AA genotype showing improvement following CAF supplementation compared with PLA (CA...
