With the present study we attempt to investigate the level of statistical literacy of pre-service teachers in their first year at the university and after the end of schooling. For the purpose of this study we adapted the framework for statistical literacy of and , while for the assessment of the participants' responses we used a modified model of SOLO taxonomy. Our study findings indicate the low level of statistical literacy among pre-service teachers in their first year at the university.

Besides the detection of the syncretic level as it was described by , analysis of our observations revealed seeds of relational thinking in very early age, which via suitable collaborative tasks designed by teachers may advance preschoolers geometric thinking.

Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, assessment and interview data were analyzed in order to determine the level of comprehension of ten in-service teachers. Given that a new mathematics curriculum with a great emphasis on statistics will be implemented next year, the conclusion is that this implementation will be problematic because of poor knowledge and experience of primary teachers. Implications for teacher preparation through professional development programs are discussed.

This study is part of an ongoing research on elementary teachers' professional development concerning their ability in designing goal oriented activities for mathematics teaching. Through our research, we tried to investigate precise components of teachers' Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching and Pedagogical Content Knowledge. Teachers collaborated as members of a Community of Practice in order to design, comment and reevaluate mathematical activities, concerning mainly their cognitive demand. Κeywords: mathematical task, cognitive demand, professional development

More particularly, we focus on the way pupils experience practices of questioning in the mathematics classroom from an equity perspective.

PwN application aims to enhance students' mathematical thinking, as well as to examine their problem solving strategies when confronted with simple mathematical tasks such as addition and multiplication. The application operates with random numbers that fall in a "box". Individual scores are calculated when the appropriate computation is achieved. PwN development was based on the linear model using prototypes with continuous formative evaluation. Summative evaluation results indicate that the application improved the children's skills both in addition and multiplication tasks.

Interesting findings emerged about issues of equity and democracy in the questioning patterns that Greek teachers use in the mathematics class.

First we explore the large variety of reasoning processes, which appear, categorize them in three approaches (visual, heuristic and theoretical) and look at the language which is used by each one. Then we focus on the weaknesses of students' reasoning and examine their reasons. The analysis of the data intends to support teachers to recognize and understand the relationship between students' reasoning (nature of justification) and theirgeometrical thought.
