Submission Guidelines: Reviews [Jul. 29th, 2006|10:46 am]Up The White Road: Subculture Webzine
One of the core aspects of Up The White Road will be reviews. Although my area of expertise is music, I'd also like to contain reviews on Movies, Books, and the Internet, plus recent shows. Below you'll find a list of guidelines I'd like to try and keep to for the reviews that will give everything a fairly cohesive feel.( EligibilityCollapse ) ( Choosing a SubjectCollapse ) ( The ReviewCollapse ) **( Submitting Your ReviewCollapse )**That's basically it. Once again, since this is all very much in the beginning stages, I'd appreciate any input on these guidelines that anyone would have.

Attention Visual Artists! Logo needed! [Jul. 24th, 2006|11:22 am]Up The White Road: Subculture Webzine
First off, we need a logo for Up the White Road. We need something we can use as a banner on the top of each page of the website, icons for LJ and Myspace, link banners, etc. I'm looking for something simple but elegant, slightly dreamy but still firm. The website will be mostly in white, so that's one thing to consider. Also, a picture to use for the wallpaper for the page would also be helpful, though if it ends up just being a white background, so be it.I'm open for any form: photo, "photshopped" photo*, cg art, painting, drawing, you name it. Obviously you'll be credited for the design on the website. Understand that slight changes may be made to your submission, but if such a thing occurs, I'll send the altered version back to you for approval first. If you have any other questions, feel free to post them here. Otherwise, send all logo/picture ideas to submissions(AT)upthewhiteroad(dot)com. Thanks for your time!*Please "photoshop" your own pictures only, or use pictures that you have permission to use. I have no interest in getting into copyright fights this early in the game. Thanks!

Positions available [Jul. 22nd, 2006|01:41 pm]Up The White Road: Subculture Webzine
The first few posts in here are going to be outlining the types of submissions needed for the webzine and the requirements I'm thinking of laying down. Obviously, other opinions and ideas are definitely welcome. But, first and foremost, I need a few positions filled for the zine, which can be held by one or more person, 1) Because it's always good to have a second person off whom I can bounce opinions and 2) Because if we really do get a high influx of submissions, I'm not going to be able to read all of them by myself. It should go without saying that I'm going to attempt to be Editor-In-Chief of this thing, but I'm also looking for some editing help. Your job would be to help me sift through the submissions for your category, point out to the author any mistakes you find, and bring to attention anything within the document you think needs to be changed (and if you're unsure, that's why I'm here, so we can communicate with each other). If submissions are high, you help decide what's going to make the cut that month.Keep in mind that this could end up being a bit of a time commitment and I can't really pay you for the job, so put your name in for the running only if you're serious about doing this.I'm looking for editors in the following areas:Music ReviewsMovie/Book ReviewsNews/InterviewsPoetry/Short StoriesSerial NovelsVisual ArtSubmissions are less of a time-constraint, as you don't have to submit every month. We'll be getting into the details of those in future posts.I'll also be looking for someone to basically be a Myspace Whore. Although I'll take care of running the myspace account, I'll need someone to go through Myspace and add people to the account. It's not pretty, it's not even that much fun, but it's the cheapest form of advertising there is. Anyone willing to do that will be a hero in my eyes.As always, input is appreciated. If you'd like to apply for any of these positions but don't want to do so in the comments section, my email is lastk1ss(AT)yahoo(DOT)com.Thank you for your consideration.
