Our research question was : How to improve the IT investments strategic evaluation process at the Banque Mutuelle ? The resulting solutions borrow from the strategy, IT, innovation and Information Economics literature. The experiment mobilized both the top managers and 30 middle managers and professionals. The article describes the new IT investments evaluation process

However, there is almost no research in the construction industry about developing clients' capabilities to manage their requirements. The research objective is to propose a systematic planning, management and tracking of client requirements to improve the efficiency of the project team and construction suppliers' ability to generate best value for money. A constructive approach based on three case studies is used to develop and test a client-driven integrated requirement management framework. Such a framework could drastically leverage project contributions to business strategy using far fewer resources, while reducing cost and schedule.

Particularly, we investigate the type of IT affordances (i.e., collaborative, organizational memory, or process management) that are more prone to support certain types of identities (i.e., superordinate collective identity, intergroup relational identity, or intergroup ambivalent identity) when groups need to collaborate towards the accomplishment of a common goal. We suggest three hypotheses which we plan to test via a field study within the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

Each country has its own vision towards its implementation. In this article, the BIM implementation has been discussed in Quebec, in comparison with Finland. A theoretical understanding of technological use, as technology-in-use, has been adopted to conduct this study, from the multi-dimensional way. The main problems of the constructions industry were described as rooted in the long-established work-practice and traditional managerial approaches in this specific industry. Further more, a concept of knowledge-of-use has been emphasized by actors’ users of BIM, considering the technology as one thing, and knowledge acquisition in using technology in order to incorporate the use as another thing. In addition, managerial implications are discussed.

Despite the industry's far-reaching technological capabilities, BIM has primarily assumed productivity improvement by individual firms, which has not lead to a systemic change in the Finnish architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) business ecosystem. A field study of the Finnish AEC industry has resulted in a critical understanding of why successful and intensive R&D at a national level and wide adoption of BIM technology in Finland has not led to the expected systemic evolution of its AEC business ecosystem. Additionally, a methodology based on inductive grounded theory and historical analysis has been used to capture and identify the evolving and dynamic relationships between various events and actors between 1965 and 2015, which, in turn, has aided in the identification and characterisation of the knowledge and innovation ecosystems. The research findings provide insights for BIM researchers and governments in terms of establishing new policies that will better align BIM adoption with the systemic evolution of business practices in the AEC business ecosystem.

Geographic clusters are characterized by several dimensions: agglomeration economies, institutional forces and a manager's mental models create the environment within the cluster. Therefore, to develop the research propositions, which were tested on a sample of US biotechnology start-ups, the study specifically analysed cluster size and firm competitive behaviour within the cluster to explain the propensity of a start-up to engage in new international alliances. It also examined the potential moderating effect of cluster evolution. Results show that merely being located in a geographic cluster in itself does not increase the probability of forming a new international alliance. Within clusters, internationalization of start-ups through alliance formation results mainly from mimetic behaviour.

Interestingly, no rigorous effort has yet been made to assess how IS researchers have studied the impact of IT on identity. In this research we are interested in filling this gap. We identified and analyzed 25 Information Systems (IS) empirical articles that adopted an identity frame and were published in 30 leading IS journals between 1997 and 2007. Based on this analysis, we assert that IS researchers have still insufficiently explored the ITidentity linkage. In this paper, we suggest that the identity frame should be brought into the mainstream of the IS discipline. We believe it offers great theoretical promise and provides a fruitful avenue for interesting empirical analyses that should yield a better understanding of the social transformation induced by IT and possibly improve individual...

According to the authors, the process of knowledge creation is an iterative process which continuously cuts four modes of knowledge conversion: socialization (a meeting to share experiences), externalization (a map to formalize a new process), combination (of explicit knowledge in the real setting) and integration (or learning by doing) that is the ultimate goal for each individual willing to be prepared to face an emergency situation. The process of knowledge creation is described in detail by Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) by considering the following steps: 1. Sharing tacit knowledge, 2. Creating concepts, 3. Justifying concepts, 4. Building an archetype and 5. Cross-levelling knowledge in the interorganizational network and its environment. Emergency situations – we are interested in this poster in a possible avian flu ale...

However, recent research demonstrates that socio-cognitive factors related to fragmentation of specialized knowledge may hinder team performance. New methods based on theories of practice are emerging in Computer Supported Collaborative Work and organisational learning to break these knowledge boundaries, facilitating knowledge sharing and the generation of new knowledge through transformational learning. According to these theories, objects used in professional practice play a key role in mediating interactions. Rules and methods related to these practices are also embedded in these objects. Therefore changing collaborative patterns demand reconfiguring objects that are at the boundary between specialized practices, namely boundary objects. This research is unique in presenting an IT strategy in which technology is used as a boundary object to facilitate transformational learning...
