A feature point extraction method based on scale-interaction of Mexican-hat wavelets is proposed. This feature point extractor can handle images of different scales by using a range of scaling factors for the Mexican-hat wavelet leading to feature points for different scaling factors. Experimental results show that the extracted feature points are invariant to image rotation and translation, and are robust to image degradations such as blurring, noise contamination, brightness change, etc. Further, the proposed feature extractor can handle images with scale change efficiently.

The coverage is improved in random deployment regions by employing some mobile nodes, which can actively move to desired locations. Coverage improvement is attained by incorporating Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm tomaximize the sensing coverage area by finding the optimal placement for the mobile sensors that minimizes the overlap between the coverage regions of sensors. The continuous redeployment of the mobile sensor will decrease the uncovered regions and consequently improve the Quality of Service (QoS) of the network. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in increasing the coverage area. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with that of the exhaustive search gird based algorithm and results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is competent for the dynamic deployment in WSNs and has better performance with respect to computation time and effectiveness than the grid quorum based node mobility algorithm.

Rotation, translation, and scaling (RTS) transformations are considered in the registration process. The proposed algorithm consists of three main steps: extraction of some feature points using a robust feature points extractor based on scale-interaction of Mexican-hat wavelets, obtaining the correspondence between the features points of the reference and distorted images based on using Zernike moments of neighbourhoods centered on feature points, and estimating the transformation parameters mapping the distorted image to the reference one. Experimental results illustrate the registration accuracy of the proposed technique and its robustness against several common image-processing operations.

The algorithm is based on locating features on faces and finding the correspondence of these features between faces using an algorithm which is adopted from the works of Yasein and Agathoklis. The algorithm is using feature extraction through filtering with Mexican-hat wavelets and detection of correspondence of the feature points through comparison of Zernike moments. The transformation of the feature points between images is obtained using an iterative weighted least-squares algorithm which allows to eliminate outliers. The face recognition is based on the residual error between the feature points after transformation. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated using experiments with a face database and compared against existing techniques for face recognition. The results of experiments with varying pose and illumination conditions show that the proposed method performs well compared to existing feature based face recognition techniques.

The technique relies on geometric properties of image feature points, which are extracted using a feature point extractor based on scale-interaction of Mexican-hat wavelets. These feature points are used to obtain geometric normalization parameters during the embedding process which are used to compensate for geometric distortions during the watermark detection process. Experimental results illustrate the robustness of the proposed technique to geometric attacks in addition to several common image-processing operations.

The objective of this algorithm is to register aerial images having only partial overlap, which are also geometrically distorted due to the different sensing conditions and in addition they may be contaminated with noise, may be blurred, etc. The geometric distortions considered in the registration process are rotation, translation and scaling. The proposed algorithm consists of three main steps: feature point extraction using a feature point extractor based on scale-interaction of Mexican-hat wavelets, obtaining the correspondence between the feature points of the first (reference) and the second image based on Zernike moments of neighborhoods centered on the feature points, and estimating the transformation parameters between the first and the second images using an iterative weighted least squares algorithm. Experimental results illustrate the accuracy of image registration for images with partial overlap in the presence of additional image distortions, such as noise contamination and image blurring.

The technique is based on transforming the image into a standard form with the objective to achieve invariance with respect to geometric distortions. The locations of such points are used to estimate the normalization parameters needed to normalize the image. Experimental results illustrate the accuracy of normalization and the robustness against several common image-processing operations.

The proposed technique consists of two main steps, the feature point extraction and the estimation of the normalization parameters. The feature point extraction is carried out using an extractor that based on scale-interaction of Mexican-hat wavelets. The locations of the feature points extracted in the first step are used to estimate the normalization parameters needed for normalizing the image. The proposed technique can be used to normalize input images in a rotation, translation and scale invariant manner. Experimental results illustrate the accuracy of normalization and the robustness against several geometric distortions, image degradations and common image-processing operations.

The algorithm is based on three main steps: extraction of some feature points, obtaining the correspondence between the features points of the reference and distorted images, and estimating the transformation parameters that map the distorted image to the reference one. The proposed algorithm uses an efficient feature points extractor which is based on scale-interaction of Mexican-hat wavelets. The correspondence between feature points of the two images is evaluated using the singular value decomposition (SVD) of circular neighbourhoods centered on feature points. The transformation parameters, transforming the distorted image into the reference one, are obtained as the solution of a least-squares minimization problem using the two sets of feature points. Experimental results illustrate the accuracy of registration and the robustness against several common image-processing operations

In this paper, we present a comprehensive study of the NFC technology and its security requirements for healthcare applications. We also introduce a new classification of NFC system attacks using a novel multi-dimensional representation. The proposed classification considers three main perspectives to categorize attacks on NFC systems for healthcare applications. These perspectives are: mode of operation, programmability level, and life cycle. Using the proposed classification, we explore the possible threats to NFC systems in healthcare applications and discuss possible vulnerabilities and challenges related to NFC security in the healthcare field.

The algorithm is based on using the Discrete Wavelet Transform domain to embed digital data into images. In order to increase the algorithm robustness and ensure the authentication of the data extracted, error detection/correction coding techniques are used to encode the embedded data. The proposed algorithm is blind, i.e., the embedded data are extracted and authenticated without any reference to the original image or data. Experimental results demonstrate the low perceptibility of distortions caused by the data embedding and the high algorithm robustness against several common image-processing operations.
