Modern tourism, closely linked to sustainable development encompasses a growing number of new traveller profiles focused on social responsibility and the positive impacts of travel. These dynamics, when properly harnessed, have the ability to turn tourism into a key driver for socio-economic progress.
Against this backdrop, a new shift in traveller profiles is reflected in the emerging number of consumers that are conscious and aware of their social and environmental footprints and power to create positive change. Thus, these travellers demand more sustainable and ethical offers, making responsible choices whereby diversifying the supply. As this trend gains momentum, it will offer a variety of new opportunities for both the public and private sectors in the future.

They are spending less time in major gateway cities and have the inclination to explore more remote destinations.
As part of the Millennial Generation, today´s youth are highly adept at using technology as a seamless part of their travel experience and as a means to communicate to a wider global audience. In addition, student travellers are inspired to pursue educational endeavours in other countries - whether to study, volunteer, engage in part-time work or learn a foreign language – in order to hone their international experience.
Consequently, youth travel has become one of the fastest growing segments of international tourism, representing more than 20% of the over one billion tourists traveling internationally each year. This offers tremendous socioeconomic opportunities for local communities as youth travellers stimulate local tourism businesses, foster closer social interaction with host populations and champion environmental protection. Young people, recognized by the United Nations as a major force for development and social change, carry the great potential to drive sustainable development in the tourism sector.
In recognition of this rapidly growing tourism segment, destinations need to undertake concrete measures to synergize their strategies with organizations that facilitate youth travel overseas, and encourage the participation in trade missions, press tours and activities linking tourism with educational institutions.

These renowned routes are some of the world´s richest and most diverse cultural destinations, building upon unique local heritage and traditions while encouraging the close participation of local communities. Apart from enhancing the visitor experience, cultural routes represent immense opportunities for economic growth and inclusive development by creating employment and small business
ventures, helping to distribute tourism´s socio-economic benefits throughout multiple value chains. In addition, these routes stimulate cultural exchanges that instill local pride, enrich the cultural identity and heritage of destinations and foster closer ties between visitors and
host communities.
The significance of cultural routes in sustainable tourism development has been part of UNWTO’s work for many years now, most notably through the Samarkand Declaration on Silk Road Tourism, which gathers the commitment of 19 countries to promote the “fruitful rebirth of legendary routes as one of the world´s richest cultural tourism destinations”. In 2015, cultural itineraries were highlighted in the very first UNWTO/UNESCO World Conference on Tourism and Culture in Cambodia, which aimed to seal the strong alliance between tourism and
culture towards sustainable development.
Against this backdrop, this Global Report on Cultural Routes and Itineraries presents key information on the current trends, along with case studies highlighting public-private sector cooperation in the development of cultural routes, underscoring the importance of cross-sectorial coordination to guarantee the protection, preservation
and conservation of cultural itineraries and attractions in the framework of tourism development.

PPPs are beyond a developmental tool, but are sometimes essential to stimulate creativity, enhance competitiveness and achieve visionary results which may be difficult if both parties operated in isolation.

Similarly, no research has analysed the effects of access convenience and benefit convenience on perceived relationship investment. Two samples of 257 and 212 national and international visitors to the Conimbriga Monographic Museum were examined, using partial least squares analysis with the recently developed multi-group comparison to identify noteworthy generalizations. The findings show that perceived relationship investment had a positive and significant influence on loyalty. The linkage between access convenience and perceived relationship investment had no significant effect, whereas the impact of benefit convenience on perceived relationship investment was found to be positive and significant.

An online survey detected outcomes and offered insights for enrichment similar tourism areas using AR. The findings are positive, demonstrating significant funding for making use of augmented reality initiatives. This investigation confirms the strength of the Technology Adoption Model (TAM) within the framework of innovative use in a touristic neighbourhood. The study, thus, supports the current use and expansion of the TAM hypothesis by focusing on the less studied shopping tourist's context. The outcomes provide recommendations for the design of AR projects for segmented tourism experiences, comprising the importance of making AR tourism experiences more enjoyable, pleasant, and exciting, and this research demonstrates that AR p...

The outcomes provide recommendations for the design of AR projects for segmented tourism experiences, comprising the importance of making AR tourism experiences more enjoyable, pleasant, and exciting, and this research demonstrates that AR practices can enhance tourists' perceived value. By examining the data collected from 415 tourists in the Gaudí neighbourhood who were willing to enjoy shopping experiences, the outcomes illustrate a correlation between AR tourism experiences and perceived value. Hence, this validated that AR acceptance enables the connection between tourists' perceived value of the Gaudí neighbourhood and AR technology's usability.
